Thanks again for the great content. My son (8) absolutely loves you. We went down to the beach just a ways down from the Scarborough marina and caught a nice sized bream 1 keeper and a bunch of little guys. My son has now asked about squid fishing after seeing one of your videos so now I'm learning from you to teach him. Can't thank you enough mate, really. My boy, beautiful as he is has behavioural issues. He can be very violent and can't focus on anything for more than a few minutes except fishing and its the one thing we really bond over. I'm so grateful for your hand in that. You've taught us both a lot about fishing and we have gotten better and better with your tips and we fish many of the spots you recommend! Thanks so much for your work here!
Emmie Ana Ray thank you so much for your comments. So glad I could help in a small way. I know what it’s looking me to have challenges with your kids. My eldest has ASD and Down syndrome. I understand perfectly how every little bit helps. I wish you both well and tight lines.
Thanks for putting in the huge amount of time and the emense amount of effort it takes into producing what you do for us all, great videos, Cheers Peter
We have the luxury of a 40ft bay cruiser and get our squid under lights at the west coast of Moreton Island. Use blue 3” jigs. Three or four squid in butter and garlic and ONE ink sac..... Taste of the sea... must try 👍🏻
You could add a yamashita adaptor to the 3.5 if you find it sinks too fast. They have a weighted and buoyant adaptor. Gives you the option without shaving
Hey mate, thanks for the video. I've just recently gotten back into fishing after years without it. Is it possible/worth chasing squid land-based outside of the winter months?
First genuine attempt at day time squidding today - Chose the hight at 11am, fished an hour either side. Tried Shorncliffe and Scotts Pt. Not even a nudge. Have you had success in the middle of the day at all Wayne? Was using GSGO and BWT in 2.5 and 3.0
G'day bloke great vids as usual since moving to the gc 2 nearly 3 yrs ago I've honestly found your vids very informative and being a beach fisho chasing silver slabs Off the beach the #1rule is fresh is best now my question for you is in Sydney (port hacking and Port botany I found that by targeting the ribbon weed and seagrass beds for Arrow squid and kelppy areas for Green eyes (southern calamari) does that philosophy and technique work here in Qld as the only squid I've managed to catch have been up Hervey bay off Urangan pier cheers in advance 👍👍🦑🦑🐙
Thanks Wayne - top info and really well put. I thoroughly enjoy watching all your videos. Unfortunately I'm not successful in catching Squid no matter how hard I try.. Do you give on site lessons? Best Regards Franco
Thanks for the great content, it's very informative! I'm just wondering that the good spots for chasing a big bream where are from Shorncliffe to baxters jetty as you've mentioned on the video (8:01), Recently I've tried so many times at the rocky area (The eastern sides of jetty, not on the jetty) but got none, so any tips for fishing on these rocky spots? baits or technics? Thanks in advance
Fresh bait or live bait. Little or no weight. Or google breakaway rigs. If your chasing big bream fish big baits. Nights are better. I like the 3 moons either side of the full or no moon. Good luck.
Hey mate I’ve been all round where your video said they are great!! Keep up the great work it’s so good I really enjoy watching them. Do you have any spare rods and reels that I might be able you buy off you mine recently broke and don’t really wanna buy a one from bcf as they are very expensive.
ilex Wang way better in the cooler months. With western winds. But can catch all year. Particularly if you have a boat. The southern bay islands are definitely worth a look all year long
Ben Grant squid are in Moreton Bay all year round but frequent the western side in the winter due to the better water clarity caused by the Western winds.
not on the Peninsula. If you have a boat then Mud Island and the Sandhills on the southern end of Moreton. Also many of the other bay islands. Just need to find clean water.
LAND & BAY Fishing Those guys at Sutton’s beach , I saw there haul a while back while I was doing my daily walk , I also saw the catch . ALL the fish went to the fish factory in Morningside , they make the money from the “ Roe apparently “

Thanks mate, moving from Melbourne to Caboolture QLD when things open up,love you fishing video
Glad you liked it. Welcome to Qld
Thanks Wayne for making great videos with loads of info. Someday I hope to meet you in Redcliffe or Shorncliffe area. You are a legend.
Definitely not a legend. But always happy for a chat.
Thanks for putting in the huge amount of time and the emense amount of effort it takes into producing what you do for us all, great videos,

Kind words Peter. Thank you
Thanks Wayne for another great video! Very informative. Time to wet a line 👍
Most welcome Jim

very nice
Thanks mate and colder months are best
Daniel Dawes it’s not so much the cold, it’s the water clarity. The winds tend to be more from the west and clears the water.
Great video, thank you
Your welcome

Wasn’t aware. Thanks will check it out
Righto mate thanks this rain is driving me crazy no fishing at the moment
The rain will go away soon enough but the wind looks like it will stay around for a week at least.
Hey mate, thanks for the video. I've just recently gotten back into fishing after years without it. Is it possible/worth chasing squid land-based outside of the winter months?
There is always a chance you’ll pick up the occasional one.
Great vid mate! Also, may I ask whether it's possible to catch squids in summer?
Yes it is possible. Just a lot more plentiful in the cooler months. Should be chasing crab and prawns atm.

I have but it is very hit and miss. Much better first and last light or night.

It sure does. Squid love structure.
@@Wayne.Groomes.Fishing cheers mate when this weather calms down abit I'll have a go at the seaway
Better in the cooler months.

Sorry. I don’t have the permits to guide. Paul Mcguren will though.
@@Wayne.Groomes.Fishing Many thanks
Once again a top presentation Wayne. Are these areas productive during the day? Thank you.
Warren Cox not as good during the day but okay at first and last light.

Love squid fishing
Thanks Joel. I think its awesome as well.
Can you still catch squid now or is it out of season
Still about now

+Flashgt200 sorry F I don’t have any gear for sale at the moment.
Land and Bay Fishing all good keep up the videos!!
Hi Mate can squid be targeted all year around in areas highlighted in your video? thanks
ilex Wang way better in the cooler months. With western winds. But can catch all year. Particularly if you have a boat. The southern bay islands are definitely worth a look all year long
Hi Wayne. Thanks for the video. Have you got any spots on the Sunny Coast worthy of a look? Mooloolaba rock wall? Point Cartwright?
Ben Grant hi Ben. Don’t chase squid up that way very often. Both Arkwright and Cartwright will hold tigers for sure.
Thanks mate- just looking at the other vid you uploaded dated March 16 in preparation for the season. I assume the Winter is the prime time for squid?
Ben Grant squid are in Moreton Bay all year round but frequent the western side in the winter due to the better water clarity caused by the Western winds.
when is the best time of year and tide to catch squid? Always wanted to try.
The cooler months are best. The tide I like is 2 hours either side of high.
@@Wayne.Groomes.Fishing day and night ? I know a spot on the broadwater you could just reach the weed beds in about 1 to 2m of water is that ideal?
Hey Wayne . Just wondering what cheap jig is your favourite to use when you don't know the area your go to colour and jig size
Paul Barnett size 3 in orange. Shave a small amount of weight if you’re fishing in shallow water. Try to get a sink rate of 7 seconds per meter.
Do you use glow stick of redcliffe there in front of the lagoon
no
Is 15lb line to heavy for redcliffe or down near Scarborough park
Great video mate. Am I likely to get much squid this time of year?
not on the Peninsula. If you have a boat then Mud Island and the Sandhills on the southern end of Moreton. Also many of the other bay islands. Just need to find clean water.
Hey mate would you say early morning or late arvo into the night is better for squid?
Daniel Dawes dusk and dawn work well but nights are better.
Cool
thanks
Do you still do the mullet net fishing? I would like to buy if you can let me know where and what day/time?
Puleia Payne sorry Puleia. Not sure what you mean?
@@Wayne.Groomes.Fishing heard about mullet sometime sells at sutton beach redcliffe...thought you might be the one selling them.
Puleia Payne not at all. Sorry can’t help you with that
LAND & BAY Fishing Those guys at Sutton’s beach , I saw there haul a while back while I was doing my daily walk , I also saw the catch . ALL the fish went to the fish factory in Morningside , they make the money from the “ Roe apparently “
I'm not sure I heard right but isn't 10 seconds a metre a faster rate of sink
If something sinks a meter in one second that would be faster than if it sinks the same meter in 10 seconds.
@@Wayne.Groomes.Fishing yep sorry, misheard the first bit, love all your videos, great local information. Keep up the great work
Hey mate, great video. Are you familiar with any spots around Caloundra for squid fishing?
G/day Cjons, don't fish it often for squid but I know the areas around Pt Arkwright and Pt Cartwright both hold squid through the winter.
Fuvkin great vid
+Stewart Mackenzie thanks.
What happened to your eye?
Had a nasty cancer cut out. All good now.
