The Beams Celica GT
1975 Toyota Celica GT TA27
The car had a 2T 1600 GT twin cam engine with 5 speed gearbox. Apparantly this model was only sold in Japan, not the UK.
I bought as a 'non runner' in Japan, although it drove fine and had only done 47,000 kms,
It was complete, nothing missing and all the interior and chrome work was good.
There was the usual rust on the sills, arch, doors and tailgate edges.
It now has the 3SGE Yamaha tuned engine from the Toyota Altezza with matching 6 speed gearbox. Sourced from a customer who damaged her car.
Jap Performance Parts specialise in high performance Japanese cars and spares.

I really don't understand why people dislike this video...... this is amazing! I own a Toyota CELICA 1984 GTS and I wanna do the same swap. beautiful toy!
Men the amount of love hours for building these car is unreal but i'm happy because he din't put 1j in it even though it still a toyota engine he just put the basic 4 banger when the car was design for. The look on his face during the interview is priceless i know he appreciate and love these car so much that he will keep it for long. This body style is my fav over than the coupe because it look like a 67 mustang fast back. When i was first watching these back on dec 2012 until now still my fav youtube vid on this car.
Currently lusting over this model. Such a pretty car.
The most beautiful car I've ever seen. really... And that sound, god....
BEAUTIFUL CELICA, BEAUTIFUL ENGINE!
Is it me or do I love keep coming back to this vid of his car and falling in love again again. It gives constant inspiration.
So coooooooooooool. Dream car for modern day driving. My first car was a 72 celica coupe. Couldnt insure it at 17 but kept it for years. Alawys regret selling it.
Great job. My first three cars were a 74 Celica Fastback ST, a 77 Liftback ST then a 78 GT. I still love the look and the stance of the "Mini Mustang."
This is true inspiration for the rest of us doing it DIY. I have a 90 Celica GT that I'm hoping to restore and turn into a show car. It's awesome to see a car that I've always wanted looking soo good that many years past it's birthday. Thanks Guys!
I miss the old days of car tuners, its full of passion. I remember as a kid playing my ps1 and ps2 about street racing etc. it had that kind of atmosphere, I just dont know how to put it into words, but you can see how the work shop of this guys remind me of the japanese tuners etc.. cars like the evo 5, subaru i miss those old moment, where its manually than machine-like..
Very nicely done. What a classic beauty!
mad respect! this car is well built and beautiful!
Yes! I am all about that car. What a mix of parts, and that thing looks beast!

Very well thought out clean looking car. Has a very strong sex appeal. Great job blending all the technologies with old styling. Flat out. COOL MAN. Fun to design ,fun to build ,fun to drive, great job. and I absolutely love that you stayed with a four-cylinder naturally aspirated Toyoda motor. Wonderful. Mad my day and I will be sharing this with quite a few people. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SHARE. ONE LOVE
You sir, is what I want to be when I grow up!
BEAMS is the correct engine choice IMHO. Great job.

+NP Rally Video thankyou!
Wow that car is beautiful! Too bad cars are not getting made like this anymore
Awesome.
Love it! Nicely done. No complaints from me . . . just wish it was mine.
Awesome car, i wish i could have one! I saw this dude on the nissan skyline episode on wheeler dealers.
So beautiful makes me want to cry
+Jacob Saca did you know some people think this car and brand sucks :(... It is beautiful and now a days everyone wants to have the same damn mustangs. No one puts in the work in the cars. Everyone just reads the pamphlets and regurgitates it back up. More respect for people who work on cars even if its riced out at least they worked hard on it, instead of buying it with mom and dads cash/card.
my dream car + dream engine(3sge beams from altezza)
just realized this bloke was in the Skyline Episode of wheeler dealers...I think the car was in the background too haha
Beautiful car
I've always had celica's. I hope to own one from that year soon
Saw this car yesterday at Japfest!

Really nice looking car, best Celica body. Beams engine is great, I like it alot. I´ve done this swap to my Carina during 2003 / 2004. Thumbs up, your car looks awesome. Mine is in Europe also, I bought Altezza frontcut from Maleysia.
Wow just beautiful, I think that is all that can be said
You know what you need. thanks
I love all but the cooler that should of been tucked away. But hey it's his car and I love that he made it his at the same time...

Nice
What a nice car...
Who else sold their celica and is rewatching this in 2019?
I kept mine and I'm STILL rewatching this in 2020 :D I'm thinking of doing the BEAMS conversion on a 1971 that has a new 8RB 5 speed.
Lovely car, hellish oil cooler location.
Don’t take this as an attack everyone who is too young or too new to the old school import scene. The oil cooler is how old school jdm Tuners built their cars. There wasn’t any room in front of the radiator as crash requirements didn’t require big ass bumpers with huge gaps between roads and bumpers, so the oil coolers were bolted to the bumper or grille. Yes it appears strange to western tastes as we don’t like to have the stuff out in the open, as he said he wanted to give it the original JDM feel, hence the reason it’s on the outside. I can’t even recall how many Datsun 510’s and Z cars and RX7’s I’ve seen through the years with their oil coolers exposed. Ask anybody who was around pre 1995 how many old school tuner cars rocked this style in the American tuner mags. It’s not seen too often on post 1980 vehicles but 70’s Tuners almost require it. On these cars It’s as common as seeing a huge front mount inter cooler behind the main bumper bar. If it’s not your taste then it’s not your taste but to rag on the build because he decided to throw some old school flavor in there is as whack as a welfare pimp.
nice old school design. wish some of the new cars would look like this one.
design is pretty close to some of the most famous US muscle cars...but a kinf of unique too...good job!
It looks like you are the owner of that Celica. If is like that congratulations you have a nice car on it! Greetings from Dominican Republic Celica Team!
Now this I like
Damn, I so want it!!!
"This car is not about racing, this car is not about power; performance, it's purely about being cool."
