These guys always like to put huge turbos on everything, 101mm on a viper swapped supra, 85mm on this celica, bigger isn't always better... When are they gonna learn lmao, it takes a lot of fine tuning to get a setup with so much lag and power shocking the suspension and drivetrain at once, it's not efficient or stable
if the rear was softer and maybe running an automatic she would have launched a lot harder! it could be a high 9sec car or low 10 :)

yes auto transmission can do runs back to back without error. all they would ahve to do is adjust when the car shifts

if they wanted why didn't they go with a 3rz? it's a 2.7l four banger out of a 2003 Toyota Tacoma but is capable of making 1600hp
+jon lalama I'd imagine that it's because the aftermarket support of the 2JZ is 100 times greater than the 3rz. Engine is cheap, parts are easy to get, easy to get power out of.
+John D well the 3rz you can get parts it's reliable power and it's relatively cheap as well and personally I think it's a more efficient power plant then the 2j because it's only a 2.7l yet makes 16-1800 hp and it's a four cylinder

2JZ- maybe my favorite from all Rotary engines, 1JZ, the previous MK3 supra engine and all, the 2JZ is just screaaaming with its 3 liters turbocharged. On one side it is like the small cubic, high-revving Japanese engines, running on crazy boost, but it also goes a bi on the big engines side, with the 3 liters 6 cylinder. The sound all JZ's make, ohh my favorite. The 2.0, the 2,5, and the 3.0 liter. All are screaming perfection, what a noise!

I bought a new 72 one of these fun little car it stopped within 2 ft with the best corvette tested. Last week I found a shell roller. Tempted to make a street driver.. use what I have and enjoy it.... I only have mopar stuff..
But live near a pull your part place.. I've seen many of the inline 6s in more than a few or all the LS engines in so many gm trucks, like the idea of the aluminum block but I don't have a clue which one to get... but my first car was a 52 Chevy Club Coupe then I fell across a 57 Imperial put the motor,trans, and rear in it.... the Celica would work with a narrowed Dana sixty.... and the race 340 ..O heck what's a few pounds on the rear tires..
No title though, be like Bob Gliden when he ran the 340 in a colt.... and won al but one national event.. anyone got a colt or arrow.

I had a 72 with 265rwhp in a 18R it would do 0 60 in 3.4 0 100 in 5.1 it was fucking nuts top speed as around 165ish. Those cars are nuts with the right combo.....better grab one when there still there....have fun with the rust....they all have it
Not trying to hate but that's a pretty bad build if its still in the low 10's. There's an e36 6 speed build that does 8.9 at 167 I think. My brothers 450whp e36 hits 11.5 at 145 at 18psi.
A super small and light 1st gen Celica, one passenger with a 1000hp 2jz, only running 10 second Q miles from a dig? That doesn’t make sense, when a 1000hp 2jz 240 runs high 8s low 9s
Hmm something is not right, that celica with the driver should weight about 2500 lbs, nissan weighs 3800 and has 480-550 hp while celica claimed 1000. There is either something wrong with that 2JZ or transmission/rear end ratios choise was a catastrophic mistake
So, if 1000 HP on relatively small tires can do that, they must be using some far stronger lug nuts for the 2000-3000 HP big wheel cars, right?
Forgot to replace the chopsticks with lugs....... Then you can force that vacuum cleaner motor, to make 10 second runs.

A single turbo might be beneficial for a 2jz in a drag race, although, this is just speculation. A twin turbo seems to be more beneficial in a road course race or endurance, this is also speculation.
I've had that happen my WS sicks own 3 black ones. 1 t/a 1 t/a 1 ws6 all fully loaded low miles 2 6 speeds 1 auto

That was due to metal-fatigue... caused by the constant axle tramp. It would have never broken had he not had that terrible axle tramp.

Unusable lag for a 6 speed and not enough torque to do it alone sans turbo. Fun but not very practical! Beautiful car though.

think the thing has too much grip? drivetrain gets too much torque thrown at it, giving the components too much force to handle?
