    I got mine today! It's fantastic with Gateron greens. There certainly is a learning curve to this 6+ software though. I haven't tried the bluetooth yet but looking forward to trying with my phone. They made some subtle changes, such as grey rubber pads on the fold-out feet, and they included blue arrows esc and del, and spare green switches instead of a variety of switches.

    Quite a few cool things going on here. Always happy to see 96% get a little more mainstream love, and always happy to see bigger form-factors with bluetooth. I've also got to give them credit for the new profile - while I don't think I'd like it myself, it does look like it was thoughtfully designed, maybe somewhere between KAT and DSS. At this point, when someone asks me what they should try for a first mech, I usually point them to a GK.

    I was very close to buying the NYM96 when it was just up on Drop a week or two ago, but $100 for a non-hotswap that I would need to buy a separate YMD96 hotswap PCB for in addition to the switches and keycaps was pretty unattractive to my budget. It's built like a tank with that heavy aluminum case, which I would love, but the price makes sense in that way. But don't get me started on the Drop SHIFT... too expensive, and it's low profile/exposed switch design. So, THANK YOU for making this review and showing us that this board exists, is available right now, and appears to be a quality product. I trust it, just as I trust this video! (Fingers crossed it doesn't sell out by the time my money is ready for it)

    Got mine from the Kickstarter launch. It was really good until it broke down, the 1st row (ESC to F10) stopped working (normal use, no abuse or neglect, just got unlucky probably) It has warranty but the thing is, sending it back to China for replacement is more expensive than the actual keyboard. It would have been great if they could cover the return shipping since they ask you for a video showing what's wrong with the keyboard and they know that it's broken. I just hope that this is an isolated case though. I guess keyboards with local warranty is an option you should consider when getting a new keyboard.

    I bought it from the Epomaker, through Amazon website, and received it last week-end. The shipping is not made by the Amazon...it's from the seller, and I got disappointed since the beginning, looking at the packaging condition.
    Their packaging is terrible: the cardboard case came quite damaged, with corners torn out...
    And the bubble wrap was quite damaged, almost no air in the bubbles...very terrible looking.
    The backlight is weak.
    I chose the brown switch, and the whole typing doesn't feel or sound good. Not sure if that's keycaps problem or the Brown switch.
    I'm returning it, and I've bought the Royal Kludge RK100, 96%, and thanks God, it's shipped by Amazon, which ships in a much better condition.
    And this time, I chose the red switch, and classic color keycaps(Grey/White and a few red).

    Betty, this may be an idea for a video. So I have been unable to find a definitive video really outlining the relative advantage of custom made/off brand keyboards to "off-the-shelf" standard keyboards from the big companies such as Corsair, Logitech, Razer. I get that the keys may be smoother etc., but big-box keyboards are improving all the time and are considered expensive at $200 and above while many custom keyboards are $400 on the low end, so does that mean that the custom is twice or more as smooth and what are the criteria that are used to determine better? Aesthetics, typing speed, finger fatigue, ease of gaming etc. I've even seen the custom keyboard god Taeha make a $3500 custom keyboard for some UA-camr Tfue. What does a keyboard has to offer at that price point?...Talk about pimp my keyboard. This issue really reminds me of my search for understanding custom water-cooling vs aio water cooling vs air cooling in PC building. Inevitably, while custom water-cooling did offer some cooling advantage and major aesthetics uplift, the price to performance ratio is ridiculous and depending on the CPU/GPU combination and the computers application air cooling may even be more advantageous while water cooling is really overkill. Thank you for reading my comment.

      Oooh tough, F96 has a better build quality

      If you do not care about the hot swappable switches, Iqunix F96 is the better keyboard...hands down. That's the only thing that upsets me about the Iqunix keyboard I have had for a few years!!! I have Cherry Browns and would like to change them, but I would have to solder.

    What mods would you recommend to do on this board? Im getting this in the southpaw config soon with gateron black switches. I'm definitely going to lube the switches as well as the stabs, bandaid mods as well. My goal is to make it thockier.

    Hello, Betty! My new Epomaker GK 96 was a brown switch, and I don´t like it. Does the red switch keyboard has a better typing feeling compared to the brown ones?

    • @saramathews6634
      @saramathews6634 3 роки тому

      Gateron red switches are linear which means no bump when you press down which means they are smoother and if you lube them that takes the scratchiness from the springs

    Betty, do you know whether we can have the [Insert] key on this keyboard?
    I bought it because Epomaker had told me we can. But, nobody has told me how to make that function working on this keyboard. If I really can't do that, I'll have to return it.

    Is this a one time production (southpaw)? Would this be available after kicker starter finishes?

      They usually have it available after

    What would you recommend for a 60/65%, slim/low profile mechanical keyboard? I was going to buy the Keychron K6 but it's very thick. Thanks!

    Seems almost like an exact copy of the Keychron K2 Hot-swapable Compact. Which is darker and better looking, at least to me.

    Quick question! Could I custom this keyboard with the durock silent dolphin linear switches along with the octopus keycaps? I wanted to build a keyboard for work so I was looking for something kinda cute but also quiet. Pls help!! Much appreciated!

    Hi, Switch and Click:
    Would you have this with cable? And...can we find it on Amazon?

    I don't know if you have had the chance to use the Keychron K4 V2, but if you have, would you choose it over the Epomaker 96?

    Dose it work through just the cable if that's what you prefer?

    Any chance you can do a teardown/disassembly and see if it might be compatible with other 96 cases? I was saving for a Melody 96 before I found this and jumped ship immediately.
    I don't care for the bluetooth but I really would like to stuff the GK96S aluminum case if possible.

    Hi Betty, do you leave the cable plugged in while switching to bluetooth mode or do you have to unplug it? How many keys do you need to press to do the sawp? I would need to swap between wired mode and bluetooth frequently, so it would be important for me to swap between them without messing with the cable.

    • @SwitchandClickOfficial
      @SwitchandClickOfficial  3 роки тому

      I think you have to unplug, but I haven't tried it. Honestly didn't even know it was BT till I read the manual since to turn on is on a key combo. To swap, there's a turn off BT mode combination

    • @SL-kc3uc
      @SL-kc3uc 3 роки тому

      Can you please give it a try? It really makes a big deal to me. And what is the key combination to turn on/off BT? Thanks alot in advance!

    Numpad but no Home or End buttons? I was gonna almost buy this one but they are very important

  • @jimgd4

    So- I would like to put together a full size keyboard using a separate numpad on the left, since I am left handed. I am a novice to this keyboard stuff, but I would like it to be RGB with keycaps that will allow the light to shine through. I was completely lost on Epomaker's website, and they have no phone # at all, so I emailed them. The email I got from them in response was so far off from what I am looking to do in terms of recommendations, it's actually nonsensical. It doesn't inspire confidence in terms of back end customer support from this company. Very frustrating.

    If you get a black case, does it still have a white back plate to help the rbg shine? (Real question)
    Edit: after watching another video with a black one, it looks like it does

    • @Stargurl180
      @Stargurl180 2 роки тому +1

      Yeah it does. Regardless, the RGB is still pretty dim and personally for me, it bothers me that I can't get a true white backlight (no white LEDs)
