    Watch for a thorough review, plus a few tips such as how to change the brightness, and what the blue light actually looks like in a dark room.

    WHO AM I:
    I’m Daniel, a British fellow that struggles to get to sleep. I like to review sleep-related products and read old non-fiction books in my everyday speaking voice that I’ve been told could make anybody nod off if they listen for long enough.
    WHAT IS THIS?
    As somebody who doesn’t generally sleep well, I’ve decided to start looking into products that may help me.

      Haha it's the only unit of time I use any more - although the Asana and Everhour systems I use in my day job don't seem to approve...

    Hey Daniel, nice video. I found out what was causing me to wake up at night multiple times. I was taking too many vitamin pills. Do you take vitamin and mineral supplements? You might want to reduce or eliminate those pills for about a month to see if you sleep better. I know it sounds counter intuitive, since we all assume that vitamins are good for you, but this is what I have discovered. And it kind of makes sense. If you look at energy drinks, they are all loaded with vitamins, specially B vitamins. It doesn't make any sense that the same ingredients that keep you up during the day would also help you sleep at night. It's like a pill for weight loss that also helps you gain weight if you are too thin.

    I have a question it seems that you have to be a person that sleeps on there back what about people that sleeps on the sides ? Because if I understand the idea is that you have to be looking at the blue light to fall asleep am I correct

    50 seems steep for what seems a simple led and touch switch with some small circuitry but the results are impressive, if it continues to work as effectively is well worth it.
    I'm curious about the science behind it and could you knock up a similar device yourself with an arduino and led.
    Be interested to hear an update down the line, is it still effective ?
    Do you feel better rested with it?
    Is the quality of sleep good, I know sleep trackers aren't necessarily accurate in their readings of light/deep/REM sleep but curious is there a difference in the ratios of them compared to before.

      Thanks for the comment; great points. Yes, it definitely does fit in the category of "can I make this myself for cheaper?" for some people, yes; for others (like me) I'm absolutely not going to attempt that 😅. And yes, so beyond the basic metrics of time taken to get to sleep, and total time asleep; from a qualitative POV I definitely felt more alert when I woke up, and better rested for the day ahead. Good idea, I'd love to undertake a longer period of testing, perhaps with an EEG device in addition to a simple tracker to compare the results. Thanks for watching!

      @@malikrahman8649 ohhh they have a buy one get one free on right now so £25 each (and I know someone who would use the second if it's effective) so your comment is tipping me over to buy it!

    So I have to watch the light, how am I supposed to fall asleep with my eyes open?

  • @rodrigodelprat

    I would see the use of 'old-fashioned' triple As as a definite plus. Built-in battery = built-in obsolescence. So many things become useless once the internal battery inevitably dies.

    • @ChipAndCrinkle
      @ChipAndCrinkle  2 роки тому +2

      Great comment; I wouldn’t disagree with this. Perhaps a bit annoying if you don’t have any spare batteries to hand, but makes it more sustainable over time. That’s why original Game Boy handhelds are still chugging along 30 years later!

    Also, a Mug Coaster! Please move the blue light slightly further to the edge (it's almost there), and my mug of bourbon will fit on the Dodow coaster without blocking the light! Thanks!

    And if you're a side sleeper?

    • @ChipAndCrinkle
      @ChipAndCrinkle  2 роки тому +3

      For me it depends where I sat the unit. If it was close enough to an adjacent wall then I would still see the glow. The breathing felt easier to do on my back though.

      Sometimes you can see it on a wall for side-sleepers, but it's designed for back sleepers, or people with a really bendy neck.

      I thought the same thing, I gues that´s why there are different levels of brightness, so that you could notice it even with your eyes closed.
