I use to watch Daddy Jacks vids all the time. I fell off for awhile and stumbled across this Cheese Steak vid. I usually don't read the comments but this time i did for some reason. I was literally STUNNED to read that Daddy Jack has passed on. I had watched at least 100 of his cooking videos over the years and i felt like i knew him personally although I've never actually met him. I will miss you Jack as will 1000's of others who enjoyed watching you cook all those delicious meals. The earth lost a great man but, heaven has gained an Angel. Heart felt prayers go out to Jacks family & friends! You will be missed by many. R.I.P. Chef!

My dad was a Vietnam veteran and he loved playing the Blues he was good as guitar out all the time throughout the day and just start playing the Blues he passed away in 2015 so maybe he's playing the blues for Jack up in heaven.

I was so use to cooking these steaks with a pile of meat on side and a bucket of pre cooked onions and peppers on the side of the grill. When I use to take people order the line would be out the door and I had to remember like 30 orders at a time. I'd line up like 20 cheese steaks at a time. This is strange watching someone like this awesome chef spend an entire video on one steak. Looks delicious though and though I live in Queens New York now I still remember my Philly days briefly.

I only found out last night that Jack had passed, and was sad and happy to hear the eulogy video from his 2 daughters. You tend to think Legends live forever. As I sat down to a steak and stilton sandwich dinner, this video was offered to me! Thanks Jack for all the great recipes and that one is a classic. Being from Phila, we use rib eye steak sliced very thin and never cheese wiz. That what the tourist traps use. Nice job Jack. The real secret is the Italian rolls. 👍

EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE who is NOT from Philly always say Philly Cheese Steak has peppers & onions automatically and traditionally on the sandwich... Well, they are ALL WRONG!!!!! List of errors: (born and raised)
1. it's just a cheesesteak, adding Philly exposes the tourist in you
2. save the green peppers for cacciatore
3. onions need to be diced roughly before sautéing, not sliced
4. mushrooms are optional
5. italian roll, no french bread
6. bread doesn't get toasted
7. no olive oil, soy or veg oil
8. american cheese ONLY
9. Boars Head london broil is for making a hoagie (cold) sliced ribeye ONLY!!!!
10. don't let smelly bums in the kitchen, especially ones with out of tune guitars LOL
This channel has always been a god send. Jack cooks the old fashioned way. High heat, stove top, deep flavor. Good music, good vibes. Next time I go to block island ferry I’m eating at jack’s!

You know...no matter where I look here on UA-cam or elsewhere like cooking shows on TV... EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE who is NOT from Philly always say Philly Cheese Steak has peppers & onions automatically and traditionally on the sandwich...
Well, they are ALL WRONG!!!!! I am from PHILLY born and raised and they NEVER EVER come with peppers and onions unless you ASK for them...a Philly cheese steak is just that a "steak sandwich with cheese. usually w/ Cheese whiz..which I am not opposed to but I prefer either a good american cheese or provolone. And also I PREFER fried onions...WHICH I then ASK FOR ...Just a bit of education for all of you who THINK a Philly Cheesesteak comes with peppers and onions...

He did day 30 seconds in to his video, "My take on Philly steak". It's like saying a taco isn't a taco if there is no taco sauce. Yea there's defiantly a standard way but who cares. I'm from Philly too, this looks good.

Went through all the effort and diatribe against the wiz to go that route with the beef? My man knows this calls for the rib eye, you can penny pinch and make a cheese steak for 10 dollars or you can take it to the extreme and put it on the menu for 13.
I use Boars Head roast beef as well, although I put the cheese on portioned mounds in the pan, cover to melt the cheese.
