Great review. I just got this TV. Another answer to “who is this for, and why not just use an IPad”. 1. Outdoor terrace use when a projector isn’t feasible. 2. There isn’t a 27” IPad. If there were it would be $5k at least.
what about for $540. It's on sale right now on Amazon. Maybe they might try to flush out the inventory since they aren't selling well. $540 might sound more enticing.
@@itypethetruthnobshere8975 Sorry it's my mistake. The price was only for the StandbyME go. Not the regular StandbyMe, I was lead to the link by the shopping sites and it showed the image of the one on the stand but look at the shopping site the discount is for the portable briefcase version only.
I'd respectfully disagree. On the sole decision of buying this as a small business owner. I was on the edge considering whether to buy a TV for my meeting room and my personal office when the Stanbyme came into the picture. I use this as an android user, Casting my tab ultra onto it allows me to touch the lg screen as if it's a giant samsung android device, so there's no loss of functionality there. It's perfect because when my staff enters my room, instead of pivoting my tablet screen to them, I cast it onto my screen and get my job done. When clients enter I roll it Into the meeting room and do the same thing. So far it's serving my purpose, and I'd say this device maybe better off used for business purposes more than one may think
This is great, I just bought it for my small workshop space for rentals, and to advertise my events in the window afterhours, I'm so excited! Know of any apps or settings that can play a video on loop while I"m away in the window of my shop?
It's a consumer item which you are using in a professional setting. I am sure it works well "for you" but LG did not engineer an entire device for an extremely niche market, hence why it's preloaded with media apps and not powerpoint and excel. You could've bought TWO cheaper bigger TVs for less money than this device and not had to worry about wasting time charging or moving them room to room.
This currently sells for $999 at Best Buy. I love the idea of rolling it into the kitchen to watch tv while I cook, rolling it outside or a spare room to work out, rolling it into our spare room when we have guests. Hoping I can pick it up on a good deal for Black Friday.
I feel like it’s great for people who don’t watch much tv, but want a device that’s bigger than tablets, and easier to move around even in the standing life style - since an i pad can’t stand so high in the middle of the ground. But it is a shame that some accessibility features a little laggy.. and its resolution is a bit short coming 😓
I have an iPad on a stand but still searching for a stand that matches the quality of this, it’s beautifully designed and hopefully others follow with better offers or LG release upgraded versions..
I was seriously thinking of getting one, but I see now why it never got big. The software killed it. I'll get a Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra and just move it closer. Thank you for the review!
I was thinking of getting this too, but I realized LG standbyme is not tv because it doesn't have atsc. That's what I did, I got the s8 ultra tab instead and got 15.6 inch sylvox tv portable battery.
Great review. I am a senior and I love the size thats the reason I bought it. So it is good for a senior citizen customer with poor eyesight thats a good market. I probably would not use the fancier apps anyway. I just got it from best buy 899.00 black Friday …wish me luck.
I really love the idea of this. But after a few frustrating demos at Best Buy and reading up on it. It simply isn’t worth the money. It works pretty badly. If they make an updated version with better specs, I’ll be all over it. Cause it is a convenient device
Use case, this this is amazing for corp show use. If you have a booth at a tradeshow it is so easy to ship this with your booth kit. Especially the version in a suitcase.
So appreciate your review. I was this close to purchasing but was taken back by the price and now the less then optimal ’ features. Presently i am going to search for a stand for my ipad? Do you have a recommendation 😂
I just purchased during Amazon Prime Day, and received the device today. However, the Touch Screen is not working. In the upper right hand corner of the screen there is a pop-up icon with a hand and lock (Touch Lock) whenever I touch the screen.
Can I ask. I have a room where I am unable to put a tv in because of the set up. I am looking for something I can move and my sole purpose for it is to be used as a TV. I am either looking at this, otherwise considering an ipad pro 13’’ and buying a floor stand. But that is obviously half the size of the lg stand buy me. But obviously is a more complete product all in all. How is the sound quality, screen quality etc and can it be used while its on charge. Do you recommend me one of this or would you say its better just the buy an ipad and compromise on size? Basically what I am asking is. Would an ipad pro be better at being a tv than this “tv” 😂
I think I would choose the LG. If it’s going to be full time for watching entertainment the larger display will go a long way. I didnt love the operating system so if I were personally going this route I would also consider plugging in an Apple TV or Google Chromecast to make it better. Also consider the speaker that mounts on the base. Together it would make a more complete entertainment system.
@@VittorTech and the screen quality. Looks like something that light glares off of. Can it be challenging to watch something in brightness or do you think the overall screen quality is adequate for what it is. Also do you think its only worth it for less price than rrp?
Yes there would be some screen glare if it’s directly facing light. It has this sort of matte finish that will pick up light. Still useable but noticeable. Personally I think it’s worth less than MSRP - perhaps if you can find it for a deal somewhere.
@@carlospinoyeven $900 is ridiculous. I didn’t buy it because the price point was never justified, in my opinion. This thing should be $500 max. Luckily, I just won it on an auction for $120 lol.
This is not a TV because it doesn't have an atsc, so you can't watch local shows. I was thinking about buying this myself because it has a big screen but decided against it because of it. It's just a big tablet and not a TV. I bought a 14.6-inch screen s8 ultra tablet and a Sylvox 15.6-inch screen portable battery TV instead.
Has anyone used it for news and games? For example, does the New York Times app work on this device? Considering it for someone with poor eyesight who likes to read and play games but needs a bright screen.
In fact, when you have to replace a TV screen in a guest room and you already have giant screens everywhere, tablets, phones, what else can you buy with a limited budget for individual use...finally, this hybrid that rolls everywhere becomes the ideal object since it can do everything too, and on a large scale and at your fingertips! I would say that it lacks a phone function! Bwahahaha!
