very cool! You should upload it as a template on the Cloud eventually, there's a shortage of great bass content on the QC and it may be that the community ourselves will have to provide it if we want more. I'd be curious to see more of your presets. I spend a good bit of time doing something similar, mining for tones outside the norms. Thanks for sharing
@markchristianson31 yea mate I'll pop it up on cortex cloud in a litte bit for sure. I just want to make sure people have a go themselves and learn a bit about the QC while they're at it first 😊
Killer tutorial. I haven't downloaded CoS 3.0 yet so I'm not sure if they have added a sync block yet or it's just something in the plugins, but regardless, I'd love to see how you can mod this preset to add an oscillator at the beginning for those of us who want to click through different pads and play say guitar over them. I've seen some people do it but this explanation was so well explained I bet you could make a killer preset without even needing the bass. -P
@FStoppers yea I think I can make this actually! Good idea 😊 Unfortunately no synth block with CorOS 3.0, but a couple of cool things that I'm excited about which will make some particular synth patches sound better and easier to play! Rabea-X will likely be the first real synth block, but I hope I'm wrong and we get something earlier haha.
Hi Cam! Stumbled across this video in the cortex forums, and I love that someone has finally made this video in the absence of a much needed synth block. I'm commenting because I actually have a tour coming up in December, which I will be playing bass for. I have a dilemma because some of the vital parts I played in the studio, I played using an EXH bass micro synth which is super old and sketchy and it basically freaks out whenever I touch it. Unfortunately I won't be able to use it on the road, so now I'm trying to get a sound that somewhat approximates the record tone, but I'm kind of an idiot when it comes to this stuff (especially the envelope parameters). The tips you gave here certainly help, but what I'm going for is less padsy and funky, but more powerful almost like an envelope triggered synth/fuzz hybrid. Would I be able to pick your brain on discord or something like that? Totally cool if not, I'm just trying to find help where I can get it.
@WaveOfPig hey mate. I'm going to have a bit of a play tonight for you and see what I come up with. I have some ideas, but in my brief experimentation with envelopes, I was only getting envelope follower type behaviour rather than a triggered envelope like a synth. I'll have a bit more of a play and get back to you 😊
@farukcobain if you want that 'cab and amp' sound then go for it. But typically you don't run synths through a cab and amp. Most cabs roll off the high end quite a bit. But by all means, always experiment 😊
@rickdabassman1 thanks mate glad you liked it! The uptown funk just sounds like a regular bass with the vocal "du-dow-du" over the top in perfect unison. So not a synth in this case! Which MJ songs did you have in mind? I can take a listen 😊
Awesome concept. Thanks for sharing!!! I will definitely try it out. More tutorials will definitely appreciated🎉
@@stephanvonwiller8164 awesome! Let me know how you go 😊

@thedeadshallrise666 thanks dude! Appreciated 🙏

This is epic and any fan of Portal is cool in my book! :)
@@astrofreq haha the yellow portal is on the 2nd screen 😄
Mate.. I have been trying to make synth sounds with the QC for almost 2 years now.. your video was the guide I needed.. Thank you so much!
@mikehgmusic dude... So happy to help! More synth shenanigans to come 😊

Much appreciated having you take a look! I also plan to add the detuned root that you showed but I haven’t gotten there yet
Amazing , thank you for that, is it also possible with guitar ?
Absolutely! Just run an octaver 100% wet at the start of the chain and that should do it 😊
@@silentshadowdnb And What about Cab or Amp ? Not at all ?

Very nice! Can you show us how to get that uptown funk Bruno tones or the older Michael Jackson synth bass tones on QC.

I added a Poly Octaver, Flanger Engine, and Ambience Reverb to this and it sounds even more nasty.
Sick! Would love to hear it 😊
