Justin, I am from CAPE MAY COUNTY NJ, Found your Video's and have been here since. Clean Family Safe Content, Not filled with Equiptment commercials telling about all the Sponsored Stuff. JUST FISHING! New Katak looks Good@ !
It's nice to watch a guy catch fish without complaining all the time. Congratulations on the new rig, being able to stay on course will definitely get you more fish.
Great video as usual! I cannot express my jealousy enough that your kayak has an autopilot motor like that. I'm happy just to have a kayak to get on the water but that motor looks like a game changer
Another great time on the water. Glad to see the new setup is working out. Takes out a bunch of headaches for sure and gives you more time to wet a line 🎣🎣🎣
Fishing the Tennessee River is on my bucket list. Perhaps you might insider having a contest, of course which I would win, to fish with you on the River. Love your videos, humor and information about fishing.
No fishing with him on the river. He has already said its too awkward an experience and I would tend to agree. Many people have offered him money to go fishing with him and he nipped it in the bud. Lol
Glad to see the auto pilot working out well for you... I could tell you were eager to have it working ! We are hoping to come down to the TN River one day (we are in E. TN) and do some fishing... Thank you for the information you provide... I am sure it will come in handy... Thank you so much for sharing !
its all about the fun in catching the fish it sucks to have to reset every time u catch a big one or a boat goes by or fast current takes time away from catching fish so if you have the chance to not have to reset go for it.Its all about the thrill of the catch .Great vid as always
The great think about the ipilot is while you are following that contour if you get into a group of fish you can hit the spot lock and sit then once you take the spot lock of it will resume your original navigation. I love mine on my boat.
I am planning on doing exactly what you just described. I feel like I have missed out on a lot of fish in the past by drifting through a school of active fish too quickly.
@@KayakCatfish it helps so much, I live in north Dakota and use it all the time for walleye. Its also a great feature when you are fighting a big fish or have multiple on at the same time like you do fairly often.
Man you arw SPOILED!!!! 😂😂😂 Glad to see it working for ya bud!!! I'm gonna go hit Taylorsville lake this Saturday. Found a steep ledge close enough to cast from the bank till my boat gets done. I'm seriously considering one of those motors for it. Keep those vids coming. But nedt time use some crappie!!😂😂😂
Things were wild at the office today or I would have watched and commented earlier, Justin! Punished the slab bluegill on the smelt Gulp 2-inch (Fishbrain - Coach Shane) but nothing on the big rig with one of those gills cut up. Lines tight Justin, thumbs up! I’m a certified scuba diver here in AR!
Too many damn "purists" would still have us building houses with wood tools. Technology allows us to have more enjoyment in the things we love. Do the damn thing brother! Great vid as always.
I’ll be real interested to see how u like that kayak compared to the Pa, the pa is just so wide, big and stable..however that spot lock motor on a kayak is a game changer!!!!
Gotta love that bonus fish man. Kinda glad your first motor broke I was interested in how the company would deal with a situation like that thx for the vid
So Jason at 4:32 when that fish hit are you then hitting the spot lock to keep you in place or are you still just limping along while fighting the fish?
I love your videos. Thanks so much for taking the time to put them together and present them to us. A couple of questions: 1) Which model of the power Kayak do you have? 2) Is there a trailer for it? Is it easy to launch and load up? Can an aging fellow like me handle it okay (60+ yo) ??
If you are wanting help with reading a contour map, the Buck Perry structure fishing book series is the best resource I know of. It is geared toward bass but the same concepts apply to cats too.
Spot lock is a great tool when it works. But its useless when it don't just an over priced trolling motor at that point. Had one on my big boat and it was just to much trouble.
a long time ago when i use to work in marina's with my FCC radio lic back in 1979 lic time..i use to know big fishing boats,, using point to point using the Loran system,, it seems even you small can be doing the same system,, a 1 day of fishing is a yr added to you life,, good luck, i too both fishing all my life too, but i technology all the way so far,,, it's all because the sats above your head
@@KayakCatfish that suffix tritanium from academy works wonders, kids use the 12 & 15. Just figured i would ask before all your tourneys start back up. Tight lines brother.
I’m sold on the Autopilot. Unfortunately OldTown is backed up on production. Need to be patient. Good fish. Did you mount your transducer in the designated spot? That was an initial concern of yours.
Frozen bait thaws pretty quick this time of year with our water temps in the high 80’s. I do plan to use the spot lock when I get on a school of fish while drifting. I think I have missed out on a lot of fish in the past by drifting through a school to quickly
No. I had to drill the holes and drop some line through there to snake the backing plates into place. It was a tough project. The wires running down the side of the hull make getting that backing plate into place difficult.
Just curious Justin, do you worry about the noise generated by the motor scaring any fish off? Obviously it wasn't bothering them too much on this trip but we all know how skittish fish can be at times...
@@KayakCatfish That's true. I've seen a lot of the UA-cam fishermen that have been given an OldTown Autopilot and aside from a few technical difficulties, they love them. I've got a 2017 Hobie PA 12 and am planning on upgrading to the PA12 360 as soon as the uncertainty of the current economy settles down. Tight Lines Brother!

To each their on about how they want to fish. I like paddling but I don't put anybody down for what they do. Maybe you should start tagging your cats to see how big they are growing and where they go. I notice that you using a different reel, the gray one, what is it?
You should start tagging your fish just to see how many of the same fish that you catch or get a hole punch and punch a tail or fin. Love the kayak
I love that idea!!!
The intro you sounded really excited

Yeah that beeping will get tiresome on the early morning trips when it is really quiet outside.

Man that auto pilot seems to be the bees knees! Pert good captain when it’s working right!
Yet again awesome videos
The new kayak seems to be a lot more stable as you pull fish in
Got to get me one of those fish. Missing being on the water
Justin sound excited in his intro? Never! 😂 I want to catch a gollywhopper.

It is the Old Town Autopilot 136. I haul it on a jet ski trailer. It is heavy. I would definitely recommend a trailer versus car topping.
Do you ever have problems with fish getting gut hooked with circle hooks?
Once or twice per year
Oh. Hey. Can you do a navionics instructional about where to find fish?
If you are wanting help with reading a contour map, the Buck Perry structure fishing book series is the best resource I know of. It is geared toward bass but the same concepts apply to cats too.
@@KayakCatfish I just figured it would give you a good reason to make another video. Also. How deep is too deep?
Amazing video. I watch all of your vids! Thanks Justin! :D
Can’t please everybody Justin . Next thing they will want is “ Huckleberry fin style” a wooden raft and cane poles only. Lol nice video
BTW do you ever keep any for eating? I can see letting the big ones go but some of those dinks would be tastey! LOL
Early on and eary off lets you get a nice Cat nap
Another awesome video, thanks!
You should try some ocean kayak fishin
Great video
Love Boat and Gilligans Island people. Lol 😂 Good one.
I agree 100%, time to needle(not noodle) catfish dave
Nice fish. Can you show a closer view of your fish finder? Hard to see it in this video.
Have you considered using the spot lock when you hookup?
Yes, I plan to do that more often in the future
Also does the new kayak motor help with the wake from bigger boats!
It handles the boat wake pretty well.
Spot lock is a great tool when it works. But its useless when it don't just an over priced trolling motor at that point. Had one on my big boat and it was just to much trouble.
I definitely have some concerns about long term durability with the first one I had tearing up after a few hours.
The one I had worked great for a month or so. I think it was all the constant movement that got it..
I AM STILL WITH YA!!!! KEEP THEM BATTERIES CHARGED AND THE AMPS FLOWIN!!!!
Love your vids man

Probably won’t be any more light tackle catfishing for awhile. I’m still bitter about that monster I lost on light tackle in June lol.

I mounted the transducer on a ram mount over the side of the kayak. I’m just not a fan of the designated transducer spot on this kayak.
Nice videos man
Would frozen solid pieces slow the dinks down? Would hitting Anchor be of any use when a good hookup happens to stay on that spot for a minute longer?

No. I had to drill the holes and drop some line through there to snake the backing plates into place. It was a tough project. The wires running down the side of the hull make getting that backing plate into place difficult.
@@KayakCatfish Hey thanks for the info, thinking I will have to do the same so wondering just how you did it. Thanks and keep the videos coming!
I just have the po man autopilot
Get someone else to work the trolling motor. Great video
Haha! I like your style!
so how did you mount your transducer? on side not should all new kayak have a bad "juju" ?😉
Yes, I mounted the transducer on the side. I am definitely going to blame my poor fishing on the bad juju lol.
Just curious Justin, do you worry about the noise generated by the motor scaring any fish off? Obviously it wasn't bothering them too much on this trip but we all know how skittish fish can be at times...
