So, here is a rebuttal to any comment about banning rifles. If it was not for how many people have guns in our country then mainland America would have been attacked by japan during ww2. The emperor wanted to but it was one of his generals who said if we did that there would be a gun behind every blade of grass. In addition during the cold war russia wanted to conquer America but for the same reason never attacked. We should never give up the rights we have no matter the cost. If that was the case in the interest of Public Safety we need to have Piers Morgan lose his right to speech... see how that works?
and in addition also think about how many millions of people would have been killed by the Japanese or Russians or any other country had they have decided to invade America

I could listen to these two all day. I didn't know Piers Morgan had such an extensive background. I don't watch TV, so I didn't know what shows he was on. I knew him from a documentary or two and the gun argument with Ben.
While I don't agree with him on everything, Piers Morgan has earned a massive amount of respect from me just for agreeing to sit down and talk with someone on the other side of the isle like this. Bravo. Wish we saw more of it in the mainstream.
This is how it used to be. All sides wanted to talk to one another, even when they disagreed. Now, you can be attacked or even lose your job if you talk to the wrong person. It's absolutely ridiculous.

Yeah, Piers on CNN was probably 'told' to act the way he did. It's nice to see him as he really is, normal guy with views.
You can see when Piers first comes on, how wary he is. Then when Ben starts treating him with genuine kindness and respect (the moment when Ben says 'tell us about your background'), he opens up and relaxes. This is a tribute to Ben, more than Piers.
Way to make this partisan.

These two literally couldn't stand each other years ago and had constant screaming matches on the air, but at least now they can articulate their points and find some common ground by actually engaging like adults.

I actually really enjoyed this interview. I don't agree with Piers on his BBC and gun control remarks, but overall he is more reasonable than I envisioned.
He was way off on bbc and sky news being impartial. They're both leftist orgs that censor and aided in getting tommy robinson put in jail for reporting. Sky news embeds with Islamic terrorists to cover libya news so how is that impartial as I thought that was moreso authoritarian...

I’ve watched many interviews where the “left” host is perfectly calm, polite, and lets the guest speak just as Ben does in this video.

I respect Morgan enormously by accepting Shapiro's invitation to do this. Of course, I also respect Shapiro by having guests who don't agree with him on everything he says.
Those make for some of the best conversations.
While I respect both men for the reasons you outlined, I've noticed that Ben is unwilling to talk to anyone to his right. He'd talk to a communist before he talked to someone to his political right. I find that hypocritical and close minded.

I actually like Piers Morgan after this interview. His backstory gained some points with me. He went from an obnoxious and arrogant person, to someone that makes some sense. I'm glad I watched this.

I used to be a liberal, but now I understand that at least in a subconscious level it helps to have a citizenry that can organize a real resistance if the gov go nuts. I think he thinks he can convince Americans that guns are only for recreational purposes and to defend your home. But guns can have a deterrent effect against totalitarian governments. An armed honest populace is a good power check against power hungry federal or local gov institutions. Dishonest actors always find access to guns even if they are illegal for civilians as other countries in Latin am demonstrate.

The gun buyback in Australia was never optional it was mandatory. People always present that argument as if us Aussies had a choice in the matter.
That being said, the vast majority of Australians are eligible to buy guns.
