    I ordered a $700 pair of boots from Nicks. Totally screwed up! I canceled the order and called Franks. They took care of me with no screw ups and the best customer service ever! I can’t recommend Franks enough. The best boots!

    So it was Frank who led Wranglerstar through Nicks on his tour videos. Very interesting. Good for him setting up his own shop and making something of his own for their family.
    I've bought two sets of Nicks recently, they're still absolutely the best footwear I've ever owned. Not tennis shoes, but support where you really need it.

    Fifty years ago when I got my first pair of Whites I don’t believe Nicks, Franks, JK or Wesco were around. Although I believe ALL are great boots it seems all these boots followed the Whites concept. I believe all are great boots, can’t go wrong with any of them. It boils down to personal preference like Ford or Chevy, Coors or Bud, Pepsi or Coke, Lucky Strike or Camel, blonds or brunettes. Once upon a time Whites were the holy grail in the logging industry, now they have competition, you pick em. If you want some great casual boots get some Role Club Underdogs by a one man shop, “Brian the Boot Maker” today’s Original, like Whites used to be.

    I’m a few years late to this video and conversation, but don’t be so hard on yourself, brother. This was effective and interesting and because of it, I’ve now had two conversations with JR by phone, am about to mail my fit sheets (I’m in Minnesota during Covid, so I’m not able to see the factory or get fit in person. I was nervous about the sheets, emailed JR pictures of a first then requested second effort, got his “looks good!” reply) and am so amped I found your video and thus Frank’s. I read some of the more heated discussion and the reply’s from Frank. I’d seen the Wranglerstar series of Nick’s factory tour videos, not realizing-as others have commented-that they featured Frank, and I was set to buy Nick’s. I could see people’s trepidation with buying from a new company if Frank had set out to, say, found a new brand of automobile or another item where it’s best not to buy the first edition of a new product even from revered companies. But, this is boot-making. I’m with you, I like to spend my money with the underdog, the up-and-comer, and in this case Frank and Co. take all that knowledge and history first honed and mastered at White’s, refined and perfected at Nick’s, now refocused and elevated again at Frank’s. I’ve never known someone to break off from a bigger outfit, start a smaller operation, and intend to build an inferior product, it’s always because standards slipped at the bigger business and new guy wants to bring back the quality or he figured a way to improve the product. So, I’m not worried Frank and Co will close up shop. Besides, even if, sadly, they did, a good cobbler anywhere can resole or rebuild a great boot. Anyway, thanks for the insights and appreciation of excellent craftsmanship and customer service. I think I’ll make my first UA-cam unboxing video when the box from Frank’s arrives. Peace.

    NIcks and White's boots are tough boots to compete with for a start up, but if Frank's boots puts out something unique in way of style or function they may fill a niche. The real test is going to be matching the quality of Nicks. Remember how cool Adam's boots looked but they didn't hold up and he fell by the waist side. I sent a message through the website several weeks ago inquiring about resole and rebuild pricing. I haven't heard back from them yet. It's little things like good communication that are vital to a start up.

    • @NomadicINK
      @NomadicINK  6 років тому +3

      +legalsolutions07 thats true. All these boot makers are making great boots. There are hit and misses with every one it seems. But yes good communication is definitely key. Well that sucks they haven't gotten ahold of you. I'd like to get a pair of casual Franks and I'd also like to maybe get some Hoffman work boots. My Nic seem to still be breaking in. Holding up great but just slightly rough on my feet.
      I like rooting for the underdog hopefully Franks does quite well in that space with the top to boot makers

    • @legalsolutions07
      @legalsolutions07 6 років тому +1

      I hope that Franks Boots does well. I like the video he was in on the Nicks boots factory tour. He seems like a nice guy. One way to get the name out is to rebuild or resole for a better price than White's or Nicks. They may loose money in the short term, but it's a way to immediately get the name out there, and if they do a quality job they will make it up on all the positive exposure.

    USA Made ... Excellent. Government should support USA made by compensating purchasers of such products, the difference between USA sale price and imported Sale price.

    • @NomadicINK
      @NomadicINK  6 років тому +1

      +RemusKingOfRome5 thats a great idea. There's a lot of boot companies that claim to be made in the USA because they are technically put together here or the original company was a United States company. But if you look into a lot of these boot companies most of them are owned by one Japanese company. White's Red Wings Irish Setters danner's lacrosse and a few others are all owned by one company in Japan but they can still say made in America on their boots

    Frank's company got established in 2016. Frank is trying to build his business based on experience that he had at Nick's and there's nothing wrong with that. Until they've been around long enough to prove that they are here to stay I will spend my money wisely and buy from the company that has been here for some time is more likely to still be there down the road when you need them.

    • @NomadicINK
      @NomadicINK  6 років тому +1

      +Denis Zgherea yeah I bought my first pair from Nicks and they are crap. Not very happy with the boots or the service I've gotten from Nicks. I've been to White's Nicks and Franks and JK's. I felt Franks was better overall and you can even see that in the boots screws aren't coming out the bottom like they are on the Nicks. Even the shoes Nicks had on their showroom floor had screws coming out the bottom. They do less stitching around the pieces of leather that overlap your upper.
      Nicks has gone downhill. That's why I bought them thinking they are great but they are not.
      I'm still breaking my pair in the rough on my feet I wish I would have gotten Franks.
      But to each his own

    • @NomadicINK
      @NomadicINK  6 років тому +1

      +Denis Zgherea side note your same remark can be made about Nicks as they copied White's and are making knockoffs of their boots?

    • @DenisZ2023
      @DenisZ2023 6 років тому +1

      Frank maybe making good boots. However you saying that Nick's are crap just shows how new you are at this. Promote Frank all you want but do it professionally. I'm pretty sure if you tell Nick's that you are that unhappy with their boots - they will take care of you.

    • @NomadicINK
      @NomadicINK  6 років тому +2

      Denis Zgherea well I've made a few videos on Nicks boots when I was new and thought that Nicks was an awesome company. And now that I've actually own some boots for a while and have learned quite a bit about boots and the boot world and have also talked to cobblers about my boots from Nicks. I don't feel that they worth the $600 I paid for them.
      This video is obviously just my opinion on boots that I feel are better than the ones I have currently. I went to every boot maker in the area. White's Nicks Franks JK's and Hoffman's.
      Also I've talked to Nicks on the phone. On Facebook. Direct message. And I've also gone into the shop twice to resolve issues with boots and my belt. So when I talk about the customer service it's from my experience. We're not helpful and have not helped me with the concerns about the boots or the belt that I purchased from them.
      And the fact that you say Franks won't be there they've been around since 1991. So maybe you're new to the boot world? Do you only own a pair of Nicks? Have you even been to their store? Take a peek at some other videos I do a nice little tour of Nicks you may enjoy
      But in reality it is just my opinion on the boots and Nick's like you said are not crap so I will take that back but they are not worth the $600 I paid for the boot with the lack of customer service after the fact. Not to mention they built my boot wrong in the first place so strike one right off the bat.

    • @NomadicINK
      @NomadicINK  6 років тому +1

      Denis Zgherea hey I apologize for even arguing with you about these boots or questioning whether or not you're new to the boot world. So I'm sorry about that. This is just my opinion on the boots but for the most part all these boot companies make good boots it just whichever one appeals the most to you. I root for the underdog most the time that's why I went with Nicks in the first place. And then I discovered Franks and I'm rooting for the new underdog now. But that's just me and you're right I should be more professional and not talk down on Nicks cuz they're boots aren't crap and I did enjoy them before I found a few things I didn't care for about them. Hope you have a great day and I do appreciate you commenting on this video
