    Im glad that there is someone who can respect a casual boot for what it is without saying casual boots are for hipsters while also respecting boots used for work.

      I wear Frank’ for work exclusively yet I’m about to order a second weekend boot, really don’t care if anyone says anything, I’m a machinist/fabricator and I work my boots hard during the week so when the weekend comes I have a pair of casual Frank’s. Next up is a pair of Wilshire for when it’s a dressier night on the town.

    Brown domane is a lighter leather hence the easier break in period.
    The natural edge really makes the brown pop. Excellent choice and excellent review!

    I just picked up a pair of White’s as they did 20% off for their Thanksgiving/Christmas sale. I like them, and the Distressed Rough-out is great for a medium work boot/ hiking boot.
    But these Frank’s have way better quality and attention to detail. I’ll have to look into them at some point down the road. They look great!

    Those are awesome boots man! I own a pair of Nicks' Roberts in brown cxl and they look very similar to yours. My size was off as well, I flew up to Spokane this past week and they took care of me and my boots are now perfect! I don't even want to take them off! Yeah, I was getting sucked into all the hype about Nick's boots. So I called them twice about their stock Robert boots. If I guessed the wrong size they'd exchange them for a different size but if for some reason I didn't care for them, returned boots are subject to a 15% re-stocking fee. I couldn't get a straight answer as to what would justify the 15% re-stocking fee or every returned boot is charged the 15%. Added to that they refused to look at my sizing sheet to give me an idea if my guessed-size was off a size or two.
    So just to try on a pair of Robert boots would potentially cost me a $79 re-stocking fee (15% of $529) + $30-plus return shipping cost from Florida. Yikes! I figure I'd better stick with my White's (I want another pair of Packers) or try a pair of Frank's. We'll see.

    I have a question about the T1’s vs the Wilshire’s. I have a fit sheet in the mail to Frank’s and I am going to buy my first pair.
    How does the T1’s vs the Wilshire compare for walking around and doing casual work? Is the extra stiff sole of the T1 a benefit walking/hiking, or is the stiffness a hindrance? If you had to spend an afternoon walking around at a mall/tradeshow/etc, which would you prefer to wear, style aside?

    • @keithjohnson5148
      @keithjohnson5148  3 роки тому +1

      For casual work I would definitely go with the wilshire boot as it’s lighter in weight.but in the same breath the t1 boots once broken in will easy handle casual work all the way to the most extreme work. Also u mentioned hiking,wich me personally when I hike I want a more aggressive sole (better traction)so the t1 would be better than the wilshire. With that said casual work and some light trail hiking willshire boots. Or casual work and extreme hiking the T1 commanders. Really comes down to what your going to be doing in them.I hope this helps bud.

    Do you prefer a heel or a wedge sole? I have 3 pairs of wescos and two of them wedge soles and I barley wear the one with heels. What benefits do heels have. I find them uncomfortable. What’s your take?

    • @keithjohnson5148
      @keithjohnson5148  3 роки тому +1

      In my personal opinion I prefer high stacked heel as it’s made to support you and your foot better, the high arch support offers a more balanced step and relieves pressure off you hips and lower back,but then again the wedge sole feels amazing out of the box and pretty comfy if standing on flat surfaces for a long period of time.I personally work allot in climbing gaffs,ladders,up and down out of bucket truck and uneven terrain so the heel helps for stability. These are only my opinions everyone foot and comfort are different 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

  • @JonathanGrandt
    @JonathanGrandt 3 роки тому

    The issue I run into with Nicks and Whites is that my feet are narrow in the heel and wide in the toes. If my toes are compressed at all, say with a toebox that tapers toward the front, then it will hurt my feet tremendously. Nicks just hooked me up with a size 11.5 and it just hasn’t worked out well. Which is very very heart-breaking and head-aching because I paid $535 for the things. Their website says you can’t return boots that have been broken in, and they say you have to break them in all the way to know if they are correct. So it’s like. 🤦‍♂️

    I would love to order with Frank’s but:
    Recently sent my fit sheet in to Franks, called over a week later to see if they got it and was told yes they got it and they “hoped” to contact me a week and a half later. I’ve since contacted JK boots and I’ll see if they can be a bit more responsive. I’m not unreasonable but I can read between the lines.

    • @keithjohnson5148
      @keithjohnson5148  3 роки тому

      That’s understandable bud.when I sent my sheet in I waited two weeks before I called to verify they had received it and they did then later in the week I got a call and had to re measure one foot as I messed up.I know several months ago COVID had a big affect on production and orders getting out.but since that order I’ve personally spoken to frank and he has mentioned with fire seasons and Christmas all going on the shop is in full throttle with production with I can respect.I personally can’t say anything good on jk boots as I don’t own a pair but I did call them prior to ordering my third pair of custom boots and wasn’t pleased with the phone conversation.but also with that said we all have bad days or are to busy during work to fully answer questions.Not taking anything away from them it seems they make a nice boot as well.wich ever route you take I’m sure you will be pleased beyond belief. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

    • @jeffmitchell72
      @jeffmitchell72 Рік тому

      Looks pretty much the same to me. Same last, same height, same heel, both roll-top.
      If it looks slimmer it would either be an illusion or because of the width size being shown.
      Outsole is v-bar versus 430 mini, but both brands have both soles so thelat could be switched. Very similar soles anyway.
      Pull tab we could have to be added to the Frank's if you wanted it.
      The Frank's is still McKay-Lockstitch'd (Blake) while Nick's has stopped doing that, so that is a major plus for the Frank's.
