I have a pair of Frank's type 1 commander. Got rough out lower and extra toe cap. They are great. I like them enough that I bought a second pair for a backup to when I have to have one pair repaired. Thanks for recommending Frank. Junior is a great customer service guy by the way.
thanks to you and wranglerstar I took the plunge and went to Frank. I got my boots a week ago, they were waiting for me when I got home from work Friday. Stiff as hell at first, I followed frank's recommendation for break in and suffered through wearing them as hard as I could all weekend. Now they wear like a second skin like you said. I got 10" chocolate rough out 12EE ground pounders with the vibram lug sole that has a molded heel, maybe like 3/4". Frank is awesome! after talking to him on the phone I learned that franks is now basically what nicks was a few years ago down to the man. I guess the former owner of Nicks even came on board out of retirement to do the books. I'd recommend Frank all day long....
@@JayyBird93 From what I've heard Nick's are still good, but have become a bit more corporatized. In done ways this can be a good thing for consumers, but in the end I decided to go with the more mom and pop shop. I'm really happy still with my boots now being 2 months shy of 3 years. I even ordered a second pair to use during resoles
Great video. It sounds weird, but its nice to see a review where someone actually puts them on. My wife and I just made a trip over to Frank's last weekend. We've got, probably about a month or so, until we get them. Pretty excited though.
Thanks for taking the time out for the update! Your channel encouraged me to buy custom boots, and turned me onto franks. My feet/ankles/back have never felt better on the job
Hey man, you're videos are what drove me to try Nicks boots. I had a pair of White's and wasn't happy at all with them. Loved all the details you went into with your videos. If possible, could you do a step by step video showing how to lace up with the false tongue? I know you did one already but one a little more detailed and done slower would be cool. Thanks!
Hey with the flatter sole or lower arched boot; more or less the same, it's the same if not similar sole. Also with the screws, I do this with my hot shots, I take a philip's screw driver and tighten them down till it won't go much further without stripping the screws. Occasionally I might get one backing out but over the last couple years and heavy use, I haven't had much of an issue. My drews rough shots have the same issue. Hope this helps.
Going to have to fly out and hang some rock! Check out the danner gritstone 8” insulated 400g insulate. My feet froze while building Idaho power. Switched to insulated for the winter times - temps and composite toes
What size boot do you wear in off shelf boots cccompared to what sizes Nicks boot your in. Just wondering because I might try to pick up a pair that are preowned
Just the leather insoles that are made with the boots. I haven't added anything and I don't think I need to. The leather insole is hard but it actually feels good once your foot settles into it and breaks it in
Well most pairs are 450 the pair I have is actually $600. A Re sole is only $100 and I think you can get nearly two years out of a sole.that's basically $100 every two years and once the boot is totaled it's $200 for a full rebuild. But I mean you can spend $150 or $200 a year on a new pair of boots and be satisfied. I just prefer the Customs they fit great and they feel great and I feel that they're worth the money. Something you actually have to try yourself before you can have an opinion on it. I know that sounds weird but seriously it's night and day
I nuke through a pair of boots pretty fast, a cheap pair (100 range) will not typically last me 9 months. I have a few 200 range that lasted just over a year, once I get to the 300 range I get 2+ years. This is why I have decided to go custom, others report 5+ years out of a pair, 20+ year of "lifetime" counting resoles, rebuilds, etc. I wouldn't fret 450 if that were the case, but if they only lasted a year? I would be very disappointed.

Ordered my 2nd pair of Franks boots yesterday. Couldn’t be more pleased with their workmanship.

I’m just getting into theses boots so don’t have too much backstory stuff here. What’s going on with Nicks, did they sellout?

@@krishorsley9574 I’m leaning towards Frank’s or JK myself rn

Awesome bro! Keep it up! I just ordered a pair a few weeks ago.
Those boots look great for a year of hard use!
Really great boot video. I always like seeing your boots. And your drywall videos are also very enjoyable. Sending you my best from Montreal
Thanks. Its about time for another boot update here soon.
Some good shots of your boots in one of your recent drywall videos.

Thanks for review just ordered a pair of hot shots cant wait for it but it will be a while 6 weeks a least.
Love the videos, keep em comin'
Keep up the solid work. Framer, hanger, & finisher taper out here in twin falls Idaho. Danners boots all day for me.
Hell yeah man local Idaho guy knows what's up with some good boots!
Thanks for watching the show.
we appreciate you being here

Could you clean that boot off if you wanted to? or is it like cemented on powder?
Like the video in the snow. How much kick back are getting to always promoted Franks in every video. It is getting old!
Nicks warehouse is 30 minute drive away from Coeur D Alene Idaho!
Just got my type 1s so far im happy my size is 10f so off the shelf boots arent an option they are chocolate smooth out steel toe
Thats awesome.
Lace to toe also
I kind of want sone lace to toe. I feel they will snug up even more around your foot. You'll have to let me know how you like them
What model is that boot, when I go to their website that boot doesn’t show up.
Its the homesteader .
Not to bad. Twins right at .25 no papers.
Thats some good money! Ever in the area you'll have to do a special guest hang on a work flow with us
What’s the going rate out their for footage?
Just for hanging. It's .18 to .20 depending on the house location and whether or not you have paperwork like insurance and comp.
How long did you have to wait after you ordered them?
4 months roughly
Do you have the insoles in? Or is it just the leather insole?
Just the leather insoles that are made with the boots. I haven't added anything and I don't think I need to. The leather insole is hard but it actually feels good once your foot settles into it and breaks it in
Hey. How are they in snow or wet?
Just fine for me in snow and water.. The steel toe isnt recommended for snow. Get a comp toe if you needed one.
whats a kicker?
Its a drywall hanging tool that lifts up the drywall. You have to kick it under the sheet to use it
replacing them after about a year isnt a ringing endorsement for a 450 dollar pair of boots....
