Worked perfectly on my 05 Mustang V6. Thank you dude! We couldn't find a cap to go over the reservoir tank so we took the line out and did it that way. Same process just a little different execution. You saved us hours of trial and error, thanks!
A little late to the party but I just found this. This is awesome info, helped out a lot on my dads '05 Mustang. Subscribed!
Thanks for posting. It worked perfectly. I read a few forums that vaguely explained it, but this video did the job.
Saved mine too. :-) This instructional video was spot on for my 2008 Mustang GT. Thank you kindly for the video!
definitely the only video i saw that helped me bleed my o6 mustang thank you
Made sense! I used a rubber block we use at our machine shop to check valve seats in each port. I pressed the block against the lip of the reservoir with the cap removed , it sucked about 22” of vacuum. I pumped the pedal 20 times, repeated 3 times It’s good now.
Thank you for making this, I appreciate you man. Such a major help.
Thanks for the info bro been looking for a video like this for 4 hours lol
Thank you a bunch for this video! This is the greatest way to bleed all these concentric slave cylinders! I just did this on my 94 Exploder and it has never shifted so smooth.
hey no problem. and thanks for watching and keeping this channel relevant. feel free to contribute to thus channel to make more videos. thanks for watching
Thanks for this. Just finishing a clutch job on my 06GT. Got 220,000km out of the original!
I just did one, and didn’t have to do a bunch of crap.
I had a cab over Mack truck that the slave cylinder would seep, and the parts were unavailable.
To bleed the thing, I would put the cab up so the feed line to the master cylinder would let the air into the reservoir.
Then I would use my hand and “work” the pedal with shortened strokes to make the fluid go down, and the air would get into the master cylinder, and then out.
Put the cab down, test the clutch, and it always worked.
So, when I did the Mustang, an ‘05, I did something similar.
A few good, easy long strokes to flood the slave, then shortened strokes to get the last of the air out.
Top off the master cylinder reservoir, and it was golden.
Went to test drive it, and had zero issues!
The owner was impressed, and I have a customer for life!
AWESOME VID!! Helped so much when i bleed my 07 Mustang clutch! Thanks man
glad it helped out bud. feel free to support this channel by sharing and subscribing
Great solution! I spent all this cash on new drive shaft, flywheel , performance clutch, and was stuck! Thank you, Oz
Just did it on a 06 mustang. Sucked the rubber cup right into the MC three times!!! It still got all the air out and I have a good clutch pedal. THANKS.
The rubber stopper part is genius. Thanks
This worked for me100% thank you thank you thank you 🙏
thanks for the video. awesome work.
Extremely helpful thank you for making this vid!!
Thanks for watching :)
Great Video going down to get the vacuum pump now
Thanks man very helpful been having issues with this
manuel garibay no problem, please feel free to share the video and subscribe
I’m actually going to use the way you had shown I got my 08 and I noticed that clutch pedal was a bit funny as brakes are slightly affected I’ll be doing the bleed soon but thanks for the video I did watch others and none was this way great job bro
Thank you so much Oz very helpful on my engine and trans rebuild.
Thank you for watching Ty. Hope you have a great day
Dude hell yes, wish all how to videos were this explanatory and visual!!
THANKS ALOT. I'VE DONE THAT ON BRAKES TOO. USED AN AC VAC. PUMP W/GAUGE
Thanks for the vib, I normally pump the clutch for a while which is what I read about long ago. Work but man does that shit take a while.
Good video. You really need to dig into the documentation to find this procedure. Yes, it helps to pre-bleed the slave if it's being changed. I did it on the bench by compressing the thing and using a large syringe with a rubber tip to fill the slave as I released it. Some fluid will come out as you install the transmission. Another problem that affects the pedal feel and operation is the pedal itself. There is a pin that the clutch master pushrod connects to that's welded to the main part of the pedal . The weld breaks and allows enough free play to keep the pedal from returning to it's highest normal position and n also doesn't allow full travel of the master piston.
Tj M thansk for the info
Great video!
Thanks brother you save my life 😅😅
Nice video will do when I replace my clutch
good video now time to try it.
Good video bro
Bro you just saved my life hahahah. Thank you for this video
Derek P glad this video helped out
you saved my life
thanks bro oz cuz i was wondering if it self bled i couldnt find slave like u said its internal i just replaced a clutch master cylinder on a 2008 GT today man it was tough but i got it done now i just need to let ut sit over nite wit cap cracked open and in mornin ill start pumping it i dont have the money to buy vacuum pump
Glad I found this video. Some other source said the master cylinder was self bleeding by pumping the pedal alone. My only other question is will I have to bleed the slave cylinder and in your video you said there was no external bleeder nipple. Then what? Otherwise, thanks for sharing your research and expertise.
Nice job
I just replaced my clutch pedal assembly due to the welds on the pedal breaking and the new assembly came with a new clutch master cylinder so decided to use the new one instead of my old one while I was at it. Got the pedal out and In pumped the clutch got pressure and everything works properly however when I’m in WOT my pedal sticks to the floor and locks me out of the next gear. Air in the system maybe? Bad slave?
Good Stuff Bro!...It works. just did a clutch change on 2011 ford Mustang 3.7 Litre V6. all I did was what you did in the video. I just had to do it about 10 times before I got a pedal feel. I guess i had more air in the system than you did. Thanks for the Info.
good to hear brother. thanks for watching
jorsschezz no problem, please feel free to share the video and subscribe
Thanks a lot for this video it was a 1 3/8 size stopper ?
MUST READ. I TRIED EVERYTHING AND ALL ADVICE ON YOU TUBE. BUT I WAS NOT HOLDING 20 lbs. I FIGURED IT OUT WHY. I HAD TOO MUCH BRAKE FLUID IN THE RESERVOIR. AS SOON AS I REMOVED SOME OUT IT HELD 20 LBS.
Awesome lance. Glad you figured it out
Awesome video! Used it twice now on two different clutch changes over a couple years on different cars. Great job.
Russell House glad this video helped out
does the pump line go into actual fluid or no. please step by step for me
If I don't have enough pressure in the clutch could this cause my clutch to not liftoff the flywheel all the way or would that simply be my slave cylinder/throwout bearing ?
Hi, I'm trying to find out weather my clutch master cylinder leaking or slave cylinder leaking,on my 05 mustang gt. It's bone dry on my clutch pedal area, so I guess it's not clutch cylinder leaking. The leak is from under the car, I say near transmission area, so it's slave cylinder?
Hell yeah! About time someone knows their s$&t on these mustangs!
If my mityvac that I bought didn't come with the gauge, can I still use it? I bought the rubber plug and have the mityvac.
Does it matter if you put the cap on the resovour before pumping the pedal?
Nice video... That rubber seal. What area did you find that at the store
Thank you 👍
Does this work if you've replaced the slave cylinder as well and did not bench bleed?
Sweet,thanks.
I Just bought a 05 v6 5 speed manual the previous owner replaced the clitch and master cylinder and I believe he said slave cylinder aswell. I dont drive stick well but from driving other manual cars I can tell the clutch in this thing doesnt feel right. When he explained that he put fluid in it and just pumped the pedal multiple times I though it was kinda weird that it had to be more than that and now I know
I tried your method with no results any ideas that might help me
The goat
Kobeeeee
Do you have to prime the new slave cylinder and if so can you provide any instructions to this. I've installed all new part and my slave cylinder is not engaging the pressure plate but my pedal is firm but it will not go into any gear with the engine running. Any thoughts on how to fix this issue. Thank you
William Almodovar did you put an aftermarket one ? Stage 2 or 3
I forgot to prime my throw out bearing in my 2012 gt the clutch petal drops when shifting at high rpms. Should this fix the problem and help prime and remove any air for the slave in the trans?
I installed mine dry and this worked to clear my air bro. Did you get yours fixed?

Do you have to put in any sort of liquid into the master cylinder after or as you're vacuuming it?
just normal dot 3 brake fluid will do.
Thank you
no problem. did it work out ?
Yeah, I used foot holder for a desk instead of a stopper.
Also have another question....do I need to take any fluid out when I do this process
If the fluid is contaminated with dirt and debris then yes. If it looks clear and has a nice color you should be fine
hey oz . I have a 2010 mazdaspeed3 and I have the same problem . I could still drive The car but when I turn the car on the pedal stays down . will this method help w my car too ?
hey oz just wanted to say that it worked . thanks for the video brother . 💪
I put my car in 1st gear and foot on the clutch and rev the car and my car moves forward ?im lost i bled the system
So, during the part where you pump the clutch, do you take the stopper out of the brake master? Or keep it in
you can keep it in the agitate the air in the clutch
very useful video i noticed my stang didnt have a bleeder was prepaiting to do some mods and clutch is one thanks for the tips
no problem. glad this helped out
hello
so from time to time my clutch will not go in gear, but when i look at my pedal it's all the way down to the floor. i'll use my foot to bring it but up to normal and everything works fine. do you think i need to replace my clutch all together?
You may have found a solution, but on the 2008 mustang gt i worked on, there is a spring that pulls the pedal back up for use again. The spring for the pedal is a golden spring up the pedal and to the right i believe. Its all i can think of for that issue is the spring isnt in place and that the hydraulic pressure is the only thing pushing your pedal back up
I replaced the clutch line and I wasn’t able to get pressure back into the pedal I looked underneath the car and seen fluid leaking
nice video, bad sadly im stuck.. i have being pumping the sytem for a week already and no result, it wont shift into any gear while is on 😢😭. i lift the back of the car and turn on the car and put it into gear and my back wheel spin, does this means i still got air in the system?. by the way i have an 07 gt and any help will be appreciated
Gh0stRep0rt if it has air the system the clutch pedal would go down and not come up
Oz Mechanics so i guess i have to look at a mechanical problem than 🤔
Gh0stRep0rt sounds like it
It will work with a shorter hose? I have a vacuum gun but with a shorter hose
Rene Lopez yes it will
Thanks man.
MrKnucks5150 no problem, please feel free to share the video and subscribe
2010 v6 manual it's not working any other tips?
alan verdugo how did you end up doing it?
is this how you change the fluid as well? i have an 06 , it wont get out of gear while engine is running, but i can shift while its off, everyone suggesting change fluid/bleed it?
how is the clutch ? Is it spongy or does it have some resistance to it ?
not much resistance..and THAT is new as of last year, and so should the Slave, maybe its the Master Cylinder? calling my mechanic today, thank you for response
Dave C look for leaks close to the clutch pedal or around the bell housing
I tried this. And I'm not getting any pressure at all. Gauge is staying at zero. I tested the rig on my finger and it works, but it's not working when I put the stopper in the tank I get nothing. Any advice?
Cory Ganley might have a leak some where
hey, bro how you bay for cap in master clutch cylinder
its a rubber stopper from any hardware store. check out my newest video. the brake one I explain it a lil more
how does this effect the brakes!!
This only effects the clutch on the transmission
My 2014 3.7 mustang clutch feels spongy/soft. As I drive it I'm not able to shift gears with ease. I have to put a lot of force On the joystick just to be able to change gears. The car some times won't let me get into any gear, and what happens is that when I press down on the clutch and try to put it on first gear, the gear won't go in but as I'm putting pressure on the gear the car starts going forward by itself without me letting go of the clutch?
Kevin Henriquez did you figure out what the problem was?
Hey there, I just dropped my transmission to replace the clutch. 08 stang. I tried this procedure over and over and over. the clutch pedal feels good, and I got 2 miles of fantastic driving but then the pedal gave in, and I got a check engine light and a little wrench symbol. does this mean I need to keep bleeding? Do I have a leak? Or is this something way worse. thanks!
You might have a leak. Look at the oil level see if it has dropped. By any chance did you change out the clutch to an aftermarket racing one ?
Check for pinched wires in the Bell Housing. We changed the clutch on an 08. Check engine light and wrench light came on. Found a wire loom pinched in the bell housing. We also had a problem with, the car drove fine for 10 miles. Then all of a sudden the car wouldn't go into gear unless the car was off. Changed the master cylinder, tried to vacuum bleed the system. Keeps pulling a few bubbles every so often after 3 to 4 hours of bleeding. We are going to drop the tranny again and check on the slave cylinder we replaced during the clutch installment.
Jacob Smotherman when applying vacuum to the clutch system does it hold pressure or does it slowly drop ? Keep in mind, its a closed system so it should not lose any pressure.
Azael Sepulveda it holds vacuum. Kept it hooked up for 3 hours. No drop from 25. Atleast nothing significant. Possibly one notch.
Azael Sepulveda We replaced Clutch, pressure plate, pilot bearing, slave and clutch master cylinder. The car drove fine for about an hour then stopped going into gear unless the car was off. I noticed that the pedal does not return fully either and when we get it into gear, the clutch engagement is very close to the floor. I can tell that the clutch is not fully disengaging. We are going to drop the tranny again in 2 days and look at the slave. Possibly could be a defective slave i guess. We will also check the o rings on the clutch line itself for possible air being sucked in.
Is there a master clutch cylinder replacement video anywhere?
not at the moment but im actually doing one as we speak
+Oz Mechanics would you be able to video the replacement?
unfortunately im almost done
thanks for the video, can you tell me why do I have to push all the way down the pedal to be able to shift, thanks...
Look up under your dash and check the point where the large pin that comes out of the side of the clutch pedal arm connects to the clutch master cylinder. Check to make sure the round connector from the clutch master cylinder is not cracked and about to fail. Also check the pin welded to the clutch pedal arm. It is also known to fail. Both are located on the top left of the pedal assembly and are not easy to see - use a flashlight.
I bleed the clutch the way you did on the video but it still won't go in to gear replace the clutch replace the throw out bearing what can the problem be?
Is the clutch pedal soft to the touch ?
Yes it very soft
Can you email its easier to replay rodrigodelgado679@gmail.com
Where is the fluid that is replacing the air coming from
The brake master cylinder
is that the brake fluid too
yes clutches normally use brake fluid
I placed the clutch fluid line with Ford Racing High Performance Clutch Fluid Line, and this did not work for me ,is there something i might be doing wrong ,like do you have to have the car on
I just replaced my clutch and changed the line to a braided stainless steel line. I didn't use the vacuum pump, I just pumped the clutch pedal many many times ( 40+ ). It eventually starts to firm up and get to normal. Especially once I started driving it again. The air in the line eventually works it way up into the reservoir by itself. The Vacuum technique just expedites the process.
+NDSPTuba I did the same thing on my 2014 GT.
the reservoir open or close and the car need to be off or on? thank you
?
I bled mine the same same. Still sinks and have to pump at every stop sign..
When you pumped the air out with the vacuum gauge, were you able to hold pressure ?
No my pump had a cap. I saw uours has a plug. I will try that. Ty
What I did is bought a rubber stopper from home depot or lowes. I drilled a hole thru the middle of if. Make sure you get the proper rubber stopper. One that fits right inside the master cylinder
Is there anyway for you to contact me?
PS I'm using Lance phone yeah we all got mustangs
READ LANCE ROBBINS COMMENNT
I got all the same pump and (I guess I am a Idiot) I can not get it to resemble anything the feels like it could maybe be a Clutch. So,,,, I'll keep at it. I have to. Got no choice.
Haha he said nipple
i tryed this hundred times and same chit then i changed clutch system again and same chit
have to make sure the ckutch hydraulic system is completely sealed. no leaks. when operating the vacuum pump does the vacuum stay constant without bleeding out
ya it does im taking master out on monday and see if i can manipulate or replace
Its 20 inches of vacuum not pounds
Robert Gutheridge yea I just messed up when tapin. Good catch
See re 1
Not at all
