    I still run the Tbi on my 92 Silverado. It’s the same Ecm, same Tbi units used in the trucks and cars. And it’s useable on my 350. 1990 iroc 350 heads, 083 castings, small chamber, milled, gives me 9.7:1 compression, small vortec hydraulic roller cam, rebuilt Tbi, larger cop car injectors, air horn cleaned up and milled off. Custom burned chip. 17 mpg at 80 plus. Moves the 4400 pound shortbed out pretty good. And mine is also a 5 speed. I have gone back and forth with changing the Tbi to carb. Hard to argue with 17 mpg and there is no way I could run 87 octane with my compression and a carb. The timing still controlled by 7477 Ecm. Ran this setup before I got the custom chip and 7477 Ecm and it demanded 93 octane. For me it was worth keeping the Tbi. I have a few big block Tbi units. When I change to those I will get another chip burned for the application. You would have some issues if this was an automatic car swapping to carb.
    You have to have a tps and the TV cable for the 700r4 to shift properly if this was an automatic.
    This car being a 1991 also has the vats system that has been know for issues.
    Cooling issue with these cars. The duct work all behind the grill is designed to route air from the bottom, not the front. If all that ducting is removed you don’t get enough air to the radiator. Make sure the relay is working for the fan for cooling.
    Also the china made rpm air gap intakes from professionals products come with the spacers for the 4 center bolts so you don’t have to grind an intake.
    Tbi pumps are 14 psi pumps. the tuned port efi would have the 43psi pump.

    Is there any fuel pumps that will avoid fuel regulater on display by the motor ?

  • @CS-oe8og

    These are great cars to work on. Not difficult, no special tools. Manual transmission is the most reliable. Just try to limit the rubber fuel line going across the engine, not only can those connections leak, but the hose can melt. The a/c is a very small hard line that should go into the a/c harness, I believe.... Great car! The 5spd V8 cars are much more rare.

    Hi Parker, can you explain what you do with the factory Harness? You can use the same harness for the Distributor?

    • @griffparker1466
      @griffparker1466  Рік тому +1

      Yep, you can use your factory harness. Some people remove the parts that they don't need for a cleaner look under the engine bay, but I didn't do that here. You need the red wire that went to the old coil, and connect that to the new HEI distributor for power. You also need the white wire that went to the old distributor, connect this to the new distributor for the tach signal to the fuel pump.

    2. Stop saying those wheels and tires were on it.
    3. Stop pretending that all the new brake parts were in the hatch.
    4. Admit that you were too lazy to drop the gas tank and cut through the trunk floor
    5. This car was never left outside, it was obviously garage kept for most of its life.

    Sorry but the title ov this video is.. dumb. "how to convert TBI to carb" etc. You didn't show jack. Didn't even explain much of how or what you did. Plus you bought the worlds most generic distributor. THat would scare me. For another 50 bucks could have gotten a Summit.

    • @griffparker1466
      @griffparker1466  Рік тому +1

      Yea, the summit distributor is prob worth the extra cash but it's easy enough to switch out later if I need to. I read reviews and the module is what likes to go out prematurely on the cheap distributor, so swapping that out will prob improve the reliability. Sorry I didn't film myself working, I prefer to do my head scratching off camera and explain later how I solved any issues I come across.
