Band I seen them when I was younger
The lead guitarist is Gary Richrath-RIP sir. One of the most underrated guitarists in rock history. He was the heart and soul of REO Speedwagon and when he left the band it was never the same again.
Had the record on 7" vinyl.👍

Ridin' the Storm Out. REO
I had tickets to see them on a Friday night in early '85 . Typical Northern Indiana weather struck with a lake effect winter storm that postponed the show until Sunday night as the band's transportation was snowed in . When it came time to play Riding The Storm Out , the band put an extra emphasis on their performance of the song . I took my future wife to that show , now 39 years later she's still hanging around .

My favorite REO Speedwagon songs are: Back on the road again, Golden Country, Ridin the storm out, Roll with the changes, Keep Pushin, and 157 Riverside ave. In that order.
MTV had their first Video on Aug 1, 1981, I remember it well I was 26. All my friends got together to see it was played at bars and parties.
Seen them before they got famous at the Red Lion.

Yes , Hee -Haw , Grand Ole Opry , Ed Sullivan were weekly watches in my house too . Back when you had to get up to change the channel and adjust the rabbit ear antenna. 😂😂

I guess I was about 16 or 17 when this hit the airwaves and I freakin loved it. My all time favorite song of theirs and been a fan ever since. Great review. Good to see the youngster being introduced to great music.

I dated a girl whose mother used to babysit Kevin, the lead singer. This got us backstage a few times.

For me it was about guitarist Gary Richrath, he was very good but underrated and his guitar had one of the best tones. He would take a cheesy song and add some ripping guitar to save the song
