Supernatural made me love this song ❤
"Dust in the Wind" - Kansas
The greatest song ever written.🇬🇧🇬🇧🏴🏴
Steve Walsh - lead vocals/ keyboards & percussion, Robby Steinhardt (big hair) -lead vocals/ violin , Phil Ehart - drums , Dave Hope -bass , Rick Williams -guitar and Kerry Livgren (blond hair) guitar/ keys. A talented band.
"Kerry Livgren guitar/ keys." it hurts! dude wrote kansas, made em who they are.
Kansas was a great band from the 70's. Their musical style is a fusion of hard rock, southern rock & progressive rock. "Carry On Wayward Son" & "Dust In The Wind" are their 2 biggest hits. But they had other good songs such as "Point Of Know Return", "Hold On", "People Of The South Wind", "Play The Game Tonight", "Fight Fire With Fire", "All I Wanted" etc.
I was gonna mention that "my" isn't in this title.
💯!
@@stevedahlberg8680 Wow
You cannot leave out “The Wall” from their best-of!! Some of the best singing ever 😊
I saw these guys live in '81. Unfortunately many of the great talents that I saw in concert are gone now. RIP Robbie Steinhardt (the big hair and beard)
This studio track made the perfect ending/ending credits for the 1977 movie "Heroes". Sadly, due to licensing issues (legal/money) most versions/edit/reeleases of that film don't use this song. But it HAS to be this song in that movie.
I remember back when I was a kid this was all over the radio, glad to see people still listening to this timeless awesome music.
Kansas was legendary Live back in the late 70s early 80's they sold out concerts all across America
I saw them do their anniversary tour for Point of Know Return a couple years ago. Small venue, but sold out, amazing concert, Their energy is so off the charts.
We call him the Chewbacca of rock n roll 😏(Im just goofing around) Robby Steinhardt certainly stands out in regards to "rock artists". Another song i know of,purely thanks to my ex-hippie uncles and my mom 😁That chorus just gets you instantly, the same goes for that synced guitar riff!
Back in the day when this was hot for some reason Kansas NEVER played in Nebraska. I lived there so a buddy and I had to go to Red Rocks Colorado(God's Cathedral). Very well worth the trip and a nice ride on a couple of Harleys with our girls. 300 miles each way with roughly $1 a gallon for gas on bikes. Hell yeah.😎😎
I've seen them since then with the new band members in Reno (Harrah's former outdoor venue) Still killin' it.
I still have this LP./Album.
"Point of Know Return" and "Dust in the Wind" are two other awesome songs from that era 45 years ago.
They're still played on classic rock radio.
"Surely Heaven waits for you"😇😇😇😇😇😇😇
The best thing about watching these reviews is how people react when it keeps getting better and better.🤩🤩🤩🤩
Great reaction and thanks for sharing. The big Red Haired singer is Robbie Steinhardt (RIP) and he sang lead on some of the songs but he was the violinist on most songs and always sang harmonies with the other lead singer and organ player and composer Steve Walsh who also played bongo drums on this song. Kansas has tons of amazing music. Dust in the Wind will allow you to see Robbie play the violin and is a much softer song. 'The Wall'' is another great song. 'What's on my Mind' 'Curtain of Iron' 'Hold On' 'Point of Know Return' these are all amazing songs. 'Closet Chronicles' 'Lightnings Hand' so many, so many great songs. Enjoy watching. This song was also the unofficial theme song for the TV show 'Supernatural' and Kansas played this song for the cast at Comic Con in San Diego. Chris
Cool
Guitar player with mustaches is the leader of the band.
Other Kansas sings: "Point of Know Return, Nobodies Home, Closet Chronicles, Play the Game Tonight, Hold On, Fight Fire With Fire, All I wanted, Portrait (He Knew). Saw them perform their anniversary tour for Point of Know Return (where they played the whole album, in order, before they started doing all their other hits). They were just as good (this was like 2 years ago, I think. Same energy. Small but classy Venue, Sold out. Perhaps the best concert I have ever seen, and I have seen some great ones (Being a DJ at a college radio station got us a LOT of free or reduced cost tickets.)
For those wondering: The venue was the Rialto theater, Joliet, IL.
This generation of music will never be repeated true music and instruments and no auto tuning. 😊
Kudos to LULU for knowing the full quote!
My friends and I had a band in the 80's and opened up for Kerry Livgren (blond lead guitarist )and AD, a band he and bassist Dave Hope (upturned mustache)had post Kansas. Kerry tried to buy my friends '65 Fender Mustang guitar, but, being born in '65, he wouldn't sell it
Cant wait to see Lulu's reaction to Nicolette Larson doing "Lotta Love" sometime Nicolette's hair is extremely long and absolutely beautiful
And don't forget Crystal Gayle singing "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue".
Kansas - The Wall. (You might shed a tear...or two)
Song for America is also awe-inspiring!
A rocking chair is a perfect chair for listening to music!
I know girls with red hair get stick, but it is perfect, beautiful
The morning after I finished watching the finale of Supernatural, I got a notification on UA-cam that the a capella group, Voiceplay, had just released their cover of this song. And it did not disappoint! I highly recommend checking it out.
Nice reference to Supernatural. Sad to see it go. All the members of Kansas are incredibly talented and this is their best.
I've still got that kind of hair... But I've had it since the 70s, so it's white now!
There is another video of them playing this live that is a lot more intense. Steve Walsh, the singer playing the organ is drenched in sweat and basically climbing the organ.
When they played live he used to do handstands on the keyboards.
Lulu should have lived in the 70's; it was the time of HAIR. Don't forget Dust in the Wind; they're still touring by the way!!
Oh wow
Kansas is still doing concerts I saw them in Jacksonville Fl in January
The two bands with the deepest lyrics on the planet PINK FLOYD AND KANSAS.
I graduated high school in 79' and I think it is so awesome that y'all are exposing Lulu to the music that I grew up on. Great parenting!
Thanks
Several hits in early rock had medieval themes, most likely coming from folk and classical influences. This is one of them. Great song!
Be sure to cover their other hits, "Dust in the Wind" and "Point of Know Return."
This song is awesome 👌 I didn't expect it to make me so emotional, such a beautiful piece of music with great riffs and grooves and the keyboard parts are cool as well 😛
Great reaction! Everybody always wants to cut our long hair! Any more Kansas you can play would be fine with me cuz it's all good! Peace and love!
Kansas were closing recording sessions of their album Leftoverture, when Kerry Livgren (lead guitarist) introduced this idea of his to the band...and it became this song, which was their first breakthrough hit and their career skyrocketed immediately. Great song! Greetings from Finland!
Oh! I recommend the Kansas song from this same album “The Wall”. Its production and the musicianship and lyrics…as well as its message is completely and totally beautiful! I think you gals will love it!
Kansas.."He knew", you ladies might dig this song:))
Dust In The Wind is worth a listen.
Great song, love Kansas!
When I saw the thumbnail I said Lulu's gonna love the hair. 😅
Kansas was actually named after Jonathan Kansas, the man who is credited with inventing the banana split.
Two years after the release of this song all of the band except one became Christian. I can see the searching in this song. "There'll be peace when you are done".
LOL Lulu drooling over the hair-But hey, in the 70's all the rock stars let it flow--Part of the image. But give props to the guitarist with the white Tux...Sharrrp looking dude--Sportin' the afro hair and switched from acoustic to electric in a 4-count! Donna's right--they had a very high-quality and creative sound.. A great example of what Progressive Rock was.
That singer on the bongos and keys is giving me Stan Marsh vibes.
Love Kanas brings me back to my 20tys.
SUPERNATURAL 😁
Great reaction as always, ladies. This came out when I was in junior high and it was such a new sound at the time, and there were so many great bands just dominating the charts and the airwaves, and Kansas was one of them.
It's interesting because they were some what older than me, but they lived or most of them rather came from about 30 minutes away from where my hometown is. In fact, by the time I got to college, when I was a freshman, my roommate was from Topeka Kansas, because he was already 3 years older than me and he was in the music scene there, and had some of their hand-me-down band equipment incorporated into his massive audiophile stereo system. We pretty much won all of the stereo wars, lol.
Robby steinhardt is the name of the guy with the huge hair and beard, and here you see him doing backing vocals and tambourine, but he is also capable of doing lead vocals, really they have multiple lead vocalists in the band and they're all great at backing vocals, but he was a signature part of the Kansas sound with his violin.
His song from a slightly Later album which also became a huge hit, and really they had tons of hits, is called Dust in the Wind and I'd be surprised if you have not heard it somewhere. But that is Robbie's song and he does play a lot of violin on it and sings it. And it's beautiful and haunting and humble.
Another huge hit of theirs is called Point of No Return, from their iconic album Point of Know Return, and it also tells a story, just like this song, and it's really amazing.
Always fun watching you guys.❤
Thank you for the information.
You have absolutelly the best listener and requester. For sure!!!!!
Wow, thank you!
Another song that when it comes on you crack it up
Sigh... you guys' accents remind me so much of my family, though my grandparents were from South Carolina, not Texas. My mom had much less of an accent, and my brother and I have none, because we grew up in the Midwest. Anyway, hearing you guys was very sweet, especially reviewing one of my favourite songs of all time! Keep up the great work! ❤
Thanks
Kansas in Dallas Texas 1984 !
Fantastic!!!
I bet it was.
Progressive Rock is the best Rock.
Geology, technically, is the study of time and pressure. lol
I saw this as a child (maybe 1976??) and it became my favourite song. That guy is probably also the reason I have hair down to my butt :D
Lol
A good early 80s song is Ratt-round and round.
Oh my God I can't get rid of this song growing up the '70s this is all I heard was this song but I like it good video
The music choise is incredible!!!!!!!!!!
Hi All, Great group & song from 1976, back when I had longer hair and in a Band
Thanks for listening
I wish that more people would comment on the song that you are reacting to, or your reaction, instead of which song or cover you should react to. Very nice reaction, by the way.
I knew lulu would love the hair😅 another great reaction
Yes! Thank you!
You can still attend a Kansas concert. They just completed the first leg of their 50th Anniversary Tour and will resume it in January. The lineup has changed (as all 70’s groups have) but they continue to create wonderful music and they replace amazing musicians with other top notch musicians and the music is always stellar!
Robby's hair wasn't as red as it appeared here. The lights on the stage were red.
Ditto. Dust in the Wind
Kansas just retired after fifty years.gonna miss them
They haven't retired yet. They are currently doing their 50th anniversary tour, which might be their last but they still have dates scheduled in the summer.
Get ahold of Supertramp's album "Breakfast In America" and give it a listen.. if you like this, you'll like them as well.. the british version.
I like the metal hair bands of 80's, but thanks Kathy for your support of those folically challenged!😅
No problem 😊
You should listen to the Whole Album!!!
Isn't it interesting that many of these bands that came out at around the same time were either named after a state or a city: Chicago; Boston; Kansas.
Imagine at some remote dive in Deleware an anouncer gets on stage: ".... only three of you here, and I can see you all now, will know of this band, but with no further ado....DOVER. Let's hit it", ha.
Anyway, great reaction guys, to a great band!
Thanks
George Thorogood and the Delaware Destroyers came out at that time too.
One of the great 70's band. They are still touring, but not with original members. Unfortunately, Bobby Steinhardt is no longer with us. He was the guy that Lulu loves cause of his long big hair,
Icarus - Borne on Wings of Steel
Mysteries & Mayhem
The Pinnacle
Three of Kansas hits
Great song!!!!!!!
A couple of reaction suggestions. Triumph (band) , Lay it on the Line from the 1983 US Festival . Another , REO Speedwagon, Roll With the Changes from the Midnight Special .
Please react to their DUST IN THE WIND
KISS Destroyer Album
Nice reaction great classic. Reaction to some Chicago too, another great band
Now y’all need to check out their other mega hits……
Dust In The Wind and Point Of Know Return. Dust In The Wind is a mellow vibe.
What song I Love Chicago great band. Baby what a Big Surprise, Hard to say I'm Sorry. Saturday in the Park & many more
❤❤Supernatural brought this to a whole new generation. Love it!!! ❤❤
KANSAS is still touring. My friends saw them in Los Angeles a couple of months ago.
This was one of the first bands I saw at Madison Square Garden in N.Y. fantastic show please check out Bourne on wings of steel by Kansas
A classic! If you want something really 'epic' by them (like "Xanadu" by Rush--something that takes you on a journey and has amazing musicianship) I'd recommend "Journey from Mariabronn" (which is based on a novel, "Narcissus and Goldmund"--the song actually made me go back and re-read the novel, which I hadn't read in decades :D) or "Song for America" (which has a good theme about ecology/conservation). If you want something that just rocks out in a breathtaking Southern rock style, I'd go with "Down the Road" (which features Robby singing lead). There's also a beautiful 'anthem ballad' song called "All the World" which features both Robby and Steve sharing lead vocals.
K & L In The House🎉
Lulu has an amazing sense of high level musical talent, like a Juliard educated musician.
Thank you
Usually on your channel to watch The Warning reactions, saw you were reacting to some great classic rock and decided to mosey on over to listen in with you all.
Cool, thanks!
STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN "TEXAS FLOOD" LIVE at the El Macombo!!!! PLEASE! Greatest guitarist performance on UA-cam!!!
A black 4 doored 67 impala and 2 brothers named Sam and Dean Winchester! Nuff said
Charming. You guys are awesome.
Thanks
So many great songs. The lesser known, "Hold On" has always been my favorite.
Oddly enough, I met Steve Walsh (the original lead singer) back in 1984 or ‘85 when I was about 10 or 11years old. Lived my whole life in Fayetteville or Peachtree City GA. At the time he was (still is as far as I know) living in Peachtree City. The younger of my two older sisters had a best friend there and her family were neighbors. She invited us to visit.
I knew of Kansas. Even though the height of their success was the mid 70s with this song and “Dust in the Wind”, I was familiar.
At that time I imagined it was ‘weird’ that someone like that would be living just a few miles away in GA. Heheh.
He was incredibly cordial and showed us around the house but mostly his home studio. I was a bit star-struck but not really.
I only became so when I later became a huge fan of the band as a teen when I really got into classic rock. Haha!
I met his son, Blu, in the early’00s at a pool hall in Fayetteville when his friend ‘outed’ who’s son he was. He seemed a lil embarrassed. Heheh. I told him how’d I’d met his dad as a kid. He was amused.
(Of course, as a kid, I was unaware Walsh was only recently no longer in the band.)
Big mama! You’re absolutely right! Those talented musicians always make everything look easy!
I say that as someone who’s played bass (and does computer-based music for a couple of decades), since I was 15 in 1989.
Also, lil Momma (I’m just makin up names here lol)…let that gal have some huge, furious 1970’s hair! 😂
And….dont let hair be your guide! I had long hair all the ladies adored in high school. Now it’s mostly gone and the rest is closely shaved….thankfully there are ladies that dig that too! Haha!
Ooo! Yes! Dr. Pepper! Yes! She’s makin a lotta sense! Heh
Wow. Rambling. Thank you, ladies!
Ya’ll all stay lovely!
Love and light to you and yours! ❤🙂
Thank you so much for watchinh.
Just a quick reminder. If you remove the hair between your ears and speakers in the headphones it might even sound good.
You got to listen to kansas do" dust in the wind".it's a Beautiful song.
Great memories from BITD! You may be a bit younger than me Grandma but I'm sure you have memories from the past too! Great job!
Thanks so much
This is my favorite song by them it's definitely a jam
I hope you react to see 80’s hair bands / glam metal. David Lee Roth - Yankee Rose, Poison - Unskinny Bop & Skid Row - Youth Gone Wild.

Great reaction, y'all ❤
Thank you!! 😁
Yes young girl in the middle. This is rock. You would have been rocking back then. You would have loved it. This is tame.
