Great video, just ordered a Renogy REGO 12V 3000W Pure Sine Wave Inverter Charger, The smart shunt 300 and Core one. Hopefully this was a good choice, I was so close to running a Victron multiplus but cost. Running 4 LiTime 100ah batteries with 2 x 400watt portable panels.
That inverter charger is a very reliable unit you will be glad you have that. It sounds like you have a good plan. A good rule of thumb for every 100Ah of batter have 200W of solar. So on poor solar days you can have a fighting change of getting your battery bank topped off before sundown... Share some photos when you get it all hooked up. Thanks-Keith
That could be the issue, yes I have the all in one , I don't think the older dc to dc chargers can talk BT. I thought you had referred to style that I have. Sorry about possible confusion .
Does your shunt retain the AH setting? Each time I select the shunt, I have to reenter the amp hours. Renogy support has been no help. Does it work for you?
Yes mine keeps it accurate, it has on occasion lost its way after I had the power completely and totally shut off. To zero it I charge the batteries to max 14.4v. (I purposely stay off of the high end limits) when the batteries settle down to 13.2v I calibrate to 100% SOC. It's been very solid for my RV application. I hope you can call there 800 number in California and get a tech to help. Keep me posted, this is how we all learn!
Oh, I'm sorry I misread that I'm pretty sure that there's a linear slope where you have a high voltage setpoint, and the lower voltage setpoint ranges. But if it's not retaining the memory, this is a new one to me. Are you a member of the DC Home community? If you are, I would post that question there cause there are literally hundreds of users that may have had the same thing happened to them that you are witnessing. I haven't had the issue yet, but I will start watching it more closely . If and when you get resolution, please let me know
Do you know if i can use the shunt with the app to automatically shut off the power coming out of a battery at a certain voltage (low voltage protection)? Or does it just alarm you with no action? Kind of like the Victron BatteryProtect.
The shunt is a read only device, it doesn't have anything but alarm and notifications, no control capability at all. The ONE CORE device can control some smart plugs that I used for fans and lights. I hope this gets you the answer.
@@crankshaft007 i'm not totally sure which part of the video you're referring to, the shot itself only needs 12 V positive and the negative wire to run it, or you can use a type C connector if you have a source. I regret buying this shunt, it's been so unreliable, it refuses to talk to the One Core controller, keeps dropping off from DC Home, needs resetting on a daily basis I contacted Renogy support and was told it wont work with a non Renogy battery !!, then they said you can't use it as a standalone product and you have to buy a One Core panel to use it !!, these are both incorrect, as I pointed out in their own user manual it can be used with any brand of battery, I am using this in a second vehicle with a Li-Time as a standalone through DC Home and all it's been is trouble, latest is a red light flashing and can't find out why, there was a firmware update to One Core a few days ago and not it doesn't talk to One Core anymore, IMO don't waste your money on this it just going to cause you headaches.
Opinions matter. I'm not sure what's going on with your set up, but mine has been very solid . Obviously I don't work for Renogy.... I knew all along that this was a read out only gateway. I see that the link goes to the not found 404... Very Odd. It is not on the website and I wonder if it is because of the 2024 website page upgrades that are going on. I will send a IM to the tech support people to see where that link went. The only trouble I had was my own fault. I did not follow the instructions. Once I failed and ten looked at the instructions I had to totally delete the shunt front the One Core device and phone app, cycle power on shunt for 30 seconds, after a couple of minutes pushed the sync button the shunt, I used the DC home app to discover the shunt and "learn" it in to the One Core to finish set up. From that moment on it has been perfect! Imagine that, once I followed the book it work as designed 😁 Let me know if you continue to have issues. My email is on the page.

@@ThreeDayRV Thanks for the reply, definitely keep that in mind.
How have you got DC-DC battery charger as an added device? I was told that the renogy DC-DC chargers were not compatible with bluetooth?
The Dc to Dc charger uses a BT-2 device to communicate to the one Core . It works very well. We've never lost comms on any device.
