RV Mobile Internet | Cellular Speed Test| TravlFi -vs ConnecTen
Hey, this is Keith and welcome back.
This week we are doing some basic speed tests on a TravlFI 4G LTE XTR router and a ConnecTen 5G router.
First I will share the direct link for the ConnecTen Router, you may have to copy and paste it. I will also drop it in the comment section below., if you click on this link, you can go down and pick up whatever you want and whatever you want and believe me it is a very good router and the service solid for the price!
----------------
Link:
connecteninternet.com/
And if you would like to get $35 off of your purchase, they provided a code
ThreeDayRv35
Again, this code will take 35 bucks off of your purchase!
-------------------
In full disclosure, the 5G router should always run circles around the 4G router, but why is the 5G router from ConnecTen less money up front to buy and less money per month for much faster speeds? I don't know! We contacted TravlFi to see if we could test their new 5G router and they declined, maybe after this video we can make that happen . People want and deserve to know what the cost -vs- value is for mobile internet systems.
If you are shopping, both systems work, both systems are reliable, but one is certainly faster for less money.
Chose wisely!
I have used TravlFi for 16 months and it works fairly well. The ConnecTen we have had about 6 weeks now. In every case, the ConnecTen router has dominated the speed tests, but comparing a 4G to 5G has it expectations.
Use the information if you are in the market.

How does it do with partial shade?

    • @ThreeDayRV
      @ThreeDayRV 26 днів тому

So these panels appear to be wired in series to itself if you do shade a panel it does decrease the wattage right away which is typical of any solar panel, but this is a really good question and I think I need to revisit this and get a number! Hello, I have mostly Renogy products, I have the 3KW inverter charger, three different smaller independent Renogy charge controllers (Rover 40, 50-50 DC to DC with MPPT, Rover 60.) the first two mentioned are for the roof solar panels and the last one is for ground solar panels so that we could really crank it up in a harsh environment and have plenty of surplus power. The roof has 5 200w 9bb panels, one 220w and 1 150 w. Currently building a wirelessly controlled tilt mechanism so we can start taking advantage of the Sunny angle. The batteries are 300 amp power, Renogy Core batteries. I have the one core communication hub that connects to my wireless Internet system so that I can monitor everything remotely if needed . So far we put close to 7000 miles on some trips with half of our camping trips being Boondocking, love being off grid ! Our system has been flawless and we are very happy with the results I have several other videos that show the other equipment going in. Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate it. Be sure to check the subscribe button, more videos coming of titling panels! You'll want to see this!

Here is their response word for word : "No, the current rooftop/outdoor antenna sold for the JourneyXTR does not support the new 5G router offering. The antenna is not configured for or tuned to handle 5G (specifically mid to high 5G bands). Also, note that all 6 external antennas on the new 5G router offering are dedicated solely to cellular/5G reception." Thanks Todd this was a great question!

Update 6/2/24. So we went on a Threeday camper trip to Ludington Michigan, to #Vacationstationrvresort, what a beautiful place by the way... and up there, I think network coverage isn't as good as we were seeing a little slower speeds and for some reason the TravlFi unit was quicker and more consistent than the T-Mobile and the ConnecTen unit. not a lot faster, but it was consistently faster and it's possible there's more 4G coverage?? I don't really know but for this test I believe TravlFi was the best option for that area.

But if it's not retaining the memory, this is a new one to me. Are you a member of the DC Home community? If you are, I would post that question there cause there are literally hundreds of users that may have had the same thing happened to them that you are witnessing. I haven't had the issue yet, but I will start watching it more closely . If and when you get resolution, please let me know

Yes mine keeps it accurate, it has on occasion lost its way after I had the power completely and totally shut off. To zero it I charge the batteries to max 14.4v. (I purposely stay off of the high end limits) when the batteries settle down to 13.2v I calibrate to 100% SOC. It's been very solid for my RV application. I hope you can call there 800 number in California and get a tech to help. Keep me posted, this is how we all learn!

I know! I was not expecting this at all. I realize that every location has factors like cell tower saturation, the population pulling from the towers, etc etc, but fast indeed on T-mobiles service. ConnecTen was no slacker at all, I mean at above 160down and 15 up, that's smoking fast, ConnecTen seems to run well having steady signal integrity. Our trusty TravlFi is solid still, but it's 4G is behind. We're chatting with TravlFi to test their brand new 5G router but it's so new supplies are limited. As a weekend camper they all would work extremely well for us!

We were away and I had the high temperature limit set to 84F, luckily got the alert, I turned the system on and it cooled down to 76.... #grateful

That does look like a simple install. How does it connect when you are miles away?

Hey! Of all of our recent product install/tests this is absolutely the easiest to do, the folks at Micro-Air have a truly easy product to install and use... We have an internet Router in our RV made by #Travlfi that is 4GLTE. The Micro-Air is online with that, so just about anywhere that my smart phone has coverage we can connect in a matter of seconds.. The Easy Touch app also is a well made App. Great questions, thank you.

We added a third battery while the sale price was still going... They tan it all night, Tv's , two mini refrigerators, portable cooler and the other things that run at night... The good news is at sunrise the battery bank voltage was 13.0V and I think the minimalist setup is going to be perfect! So far, so good, the batteries are delivering better than expected.
