Love the way y'all say 'Nike'. The correct pronunciation is 'nye-kee'. I knew we always said that right! Dude come on!! What does ur comment have to do with anything, who cares!!!
Awesome. so I broke one support hook at the joint of a clothes over the door rail made of metal. instead of throwing it away I thought I try something like this.
Typically yes, admittedly I’m not a pro solderer. Most of the solder you find for applications such as this are flux core so it’s kind of all in one step.
"I believe" that for field repairs you can use the led from an old wheel waite. I've fixed a radiator in an old truck that way. Had to use 2 lighters up, but I got home. 😎
Really neat expedient soldering tool. I like it! Don`t forget to carry some solder! Maybe wrap the copper wire and solder onto the lighter and tape everything up and stick it in the toolbox. Make sure the solder is flux cored or you will need to bring some flux too. Tinner`s flux is liquid and easier to apply, in many cases., though it is an acidic material which may corrode delicate electronic components.
True story: Friend of mine had a motorcycle stop on him because of a CDI problem; he cut open the part that was giving him trouble, heated up a nail and fixed the solder joint that was bad and then plastic welded the whole thing back together. It fired up and he got back to civilization.
Just had a back and forth with my dad over this Our soldering iron is dead I needed to to solder some wires and thought hmmmm maybe a torch and a coat hanger would do the trick for now Got called an idiot pretty much Now who's the idiot...... daaaaaaaad
Thanks for sharing Zack. The music was a big distraction for me, but better than some of the so called music I've been hearing on other channels lately. It must be hard to come up with youtube friendly music that doesn't want to make people dig out their ear drum with a rusty grapefruit spoon.
lol yeah it's a delicate balance. There are some videos that really feel like they NEED some music. It is a real pain to come up with tunes that are A) useable B) decent C)right tone/feel for the video. Then you've got to get it loud enough to hear but not so loud to be distracting lol. I truly appreciate the input though, it helps me to narrow down my methods and make things more enjoyable for a broader cross section of people. Cheers!
What strippers did you end up with? I still dont have the ones i want and crimpers second but probably need two strippers with all I like to play with.
How is this a "hack"? It's like saying "Hey, did you know, if your electricity goes out, you can make light with just a lighter and a candle!". No shit. It's hot metal. I genuinely don't get whats so "surprising" about this.
Way to make me feel old I was grown when that show was on..lol
LOVE the way Americans say sod-der instead of solder; always raises a schoolboy snigger here in the UK.

Ha, that's a dead set MacGyver moment, right there...😉😂
Neato hack, mate 👍😎
Thanks Bill! I thought it was pretty cool :)
Diggin that music :)
Thanks David!
Thanks Zack another sleepless night. I haven't seen my soldering gun in a decade.its buried in the shop, but where. Time to start smoking again.
LOL
This seems like a nice place, think i'll stay around for a while.
Excellent! I'm glad to have you here.
👍 I do enjoy your channel.
Thanks Gray Beard!
Good hack. Just like Filex the cat i shall put this in my bag of tricks.
That's where I put mine!
Awesome. so I broke one support hook at the joint of a clothes over the door rail made of metal. instead of throwing it away I thought I try something like this.
Very cool. Could see using a propane torch or any flame source the same way for better control of the heat. Thanks.
That's a good point, Paul.
Who knew?? Not me...thanks for posting.
That's what I'm sayin'! I'd never heard of such a thing. Pretty cool that it works.
@@ZackOfAllTrades yes!! Cool info..
Thats so cool
Thanks Cary, I thought so
Can I use the coat hand and the lighter to just solder oh and with some soldering paste
I’m just waiting for part two of the Yamaha
Same
Me too
excellent
Thanks!
Always a good....how can I get this done with what I have fix. Great job
Thanks Jim!
You should look into the old Bettie Jet lighters. They shoot a torch straight down. Mine got stolen, but they are a amazing design.
I'll take a look
Can u see fuse wire to put on lighter ti drop a tiny bit of melt metal on my xbox one wire to connect it back to board please
I do alot of soldering in my trades around plumbing. I don't know much about soldering electronics. Is flux required for application?
Typically yes, admittedly I’m not a pro solderer. Most of the solder you find for applications such as this are flux core so it’s kind of all in one step.
genius.

Nice!
Is there any possible way to solder something without soldering wire? I have legit everything I need except that
Would make MacGyver proud!
Thanks Doug, that's what I was going for!

That's a good point to just put together a kit.

I would improvise and put a mail on a piece of wood and light it away from lighter
Just had a back and forth with my dad over this

Seems like a great way to lose a finger or worse!
To be fair, you'd have to hold your finger directly in the flame for quite some time before losing it.

Lighters explode I've exploded many of them, to be 'real' they explode end of story moron!
Are you that stupid!
What strippers did you end up with? I still dont have the ones i want and crimpers second but probably need two strippers with all I like to play with.
lol I still have them all but use the blue handled ones.
Yeah, don't do this lol
Unless you have to solder a wire in the middle of nowhere and your life depends on it, don't.
Neat but don't.
