    I absolutely love my Studio Ocean Mark Blue Heaven OGM BHL50VII paired with Deepliner Logical Prime Rod! Money well spent!

    Same aame, but now use a custom 100h basara, instead of my SOM 30, pwr 0. 6'6" rod makes up for the reel ratio difference for pitching. But 200m max. Love your videos bro

    I was going to try to order one from barracuda dubai but they didn’t have stock of the L30 size. Then decided to delay buying it since I am getting a new small boat. Also I heard from your video previously and also from the Kuwaiti dealer that there will be a gcc specific size for the som safari reel.

      There is going to be a Z Japan Blue Safari, will be released this month...I don't know about a gulf specific Blue Safari. There is an L80 and an L100 specific for the UAE. They are already on sale in Barracuda.
      There are Z Japan L30s in Barracuda.

    Very very nice video sir !
    Thank you ! I’m new to this game but I understand everything you say.
    How would you compare this to Evergreen reels and Daiwa LD35JH ?
    Very much appreciated ! 🙏

      I have not had the chance to try out evergreen, but have tried the daiwa 15H. The saltiga is like the OJ, pretty standard. no complaints...but you can not compare this with the standards...like comparing a corolla with a ferrari.

    How about slow jigging with a baitcasting reel? Lighter on a same size

      For shallow water on smaller fish sure! Before the Blue Safari, I was using the Ocea Conquest 200 for my shallow water work.

      I can not say what is good for you and your area, but I can tell you what I use - for waters 200m and below, I use SOM L30 and Hots Stiletto max 350 max. For up to 500m, I use SOM L50 and Deepliner max 600, for over that, I use SOM L100 and Deepliner max 900g

    Whats the durability of the cork drag? As it will decay due to being cork. Roughly whats the replacement period for its drag as well

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  4 місяці тому

      If you use it everyday, it will need to be replaced sooner than ones that are used only on the weekends. If you go fishing once a year, it would take years before you replace it - just like carbon drags, they dont last forever.

    Besides the SOM brand, what is your opinion on the new LD 2500 ? which is pretty much half the price compared to the L50 ? I have a 2000xg for slow jig, thinking about getting a bigger size lever drag reel for jigging tuna. Thanks for the great content !

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  7 місяців тому

      The new LD 2500 is useful for kayak anglers...with the weight that it has, you can use it for an anchor when you need one. There is absolutely no reason why an LD reel should be heavier than a star drag reel - they have less parts!

    What's your opinion on the Maxel and jigging master reel? The price is a bit steep here in the state. almost same as som.💸 #fishing #expensive

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  7 місяців тому +1

      Firstly...fishing isn't cheap. What you can do is minimize your spending by buying the best your money can get you...then you don't look for anything else. Whatever you spend on, go with this and you won't regret it.
      As for Maxel and JM reels - I have used them...I can not say they are better than SOM. It's like comparing a BMX bike with a space shuttle.

    hi there Kit, thank you for the video. What do you think about the Maxel transformer?

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  7 місяців тому +1

      This video talks about WEIGHT...so let's do a little actual comparison here - The smallest transformer is the size 30 it weighs in at 446g price for this made in China reel is $545.
      The made in Japan Ocea Jigger 1500 weighs in at 405g, priced in J&H at $539.99
      So you are paying extra for a made in china reel that's heavier...what do you think is my opinion on this?

      This reel brand has issues with a lot of things - there are claims about its manufacturing and a lot of other questionable things. Probably the most expensive Chinese reel in the market today. Quite literally a cast alum frame Maxel/JM. You can get the same reel with different brand markings for quite a lower cost apparently. However - if it works for you, then thats great.
