  • The Losrecal pull-up bar seems to be the ideal solution for how to do pull-ups without drilling holes into the wall or dealing with the limitations of a doorway pull-up bar. But how does it stack up in the real world?

    Absolutely appreciate your objectiveness. Too many people will give a positive review to stay in the good graces of the company of the product they are reviewing. Not that this was a negative review, but it highlighted the pros and cons, which is exactly what a review should do. Looking forward to the Iso Chain review and the Micro Workout book!

      Appreciate that John, I wasn't actually going to post this since the review wasn't all that positive but the company insisted that I still post it.

    Hello Matt,
    I agree that these types of bars can be a hassle to move around to different heights and what not, especially ones that do not have a level built in, as more work is required in the initial set up to ensure proper alignment.
    Also, I bought one of these products and placed it between two walls in my apartment only to have one side buckle the drywall. In hindsight, I should have took the time to find studs and place it between them, but I did not have a stud finder nor was I confident that I would find two studs in the few locations I had to choose from.
    With that said, I would not trust a friction pull up bar again unless it was placed between two concrete pillars.

    I'm having just hell finding one of these that has accessible bar for holding variety. I think I might just go screws/brackets.

    Hey Matt, if you were in confined to a small space, like when we were in quarantine,what exercises/ workouts would you recommend doing for some cardio and conditioning?

      I still go outside. Nothing like a hike or bike ride. If you're not in an urban high-density population that's perfect for getting out and social distancing.

    I was using one of these for awhile. Didn't require any drilling. After about a month of use, the bar came loose while I was doing a pull up. I landed on my kneecaps. I'm 5'7 @ 165lbs, thankfully only had minor bruising.
    Would advice to leave a pillow/cushion in case the bar does come loose. I never used the doorway pull up bars again.

      Our pull up bar comes with the hexagonal wrench,Therefore before when you use to pull up bar, should fasten the pull-up bar again, should be taking 3 seconds

      I have one and it works perfectly.
      This thing creates soooo much force outwards to clamp that I would only advise concrete walls. This was the best purchase I've made for home workouts. All I would recommend is the same as the manufacturers...just check and adjust before use or atleast once a week.

      Hi...when I first bought it I used it for a few weeks only as I passed the hallway. Eventually I completed 2 youtube beginners challenges. Since Jan 1st I have used the bar 'daily' doing 100 pull-ups on evenings. I'm times stronger and looking more athletic. The bar itself hasn't come off the ( concrete) wall since I first put it up. I tightened the hex screw once a week in the beginning but I can remember only checking it once for the year 🤔( I'll check it tonight now...lol) Btw I also bought some Yes4All thick grips from Amazon as well that make pullups more difficult.
      I consider it to be the best value for money item I've ever bought.
      All the best on your fitness/health journey.😎

    I agree with you I to prefer a straight bar without the set hand placement grips/holds, but wanted to see if you recommend it as a permanent fixture to hang Olympic Rings off of..? Do you think it's strong enough hold to hold Olympic Rings... not sure if the movement of the Olympic Rings change the support from this pull-up bar... Thank you Sir as always for your most useful videos.

    • @RedDeltaProject
      @RedDeltaProject  3 роки тому

      I was wondering that myself but didn't have the guts to try hanging my straps on it and potentially swinging on it which would put much more stress on it. I would anchor your rings on something a little more sturdy.

  • @DaveLowe28
    @DaveLowe28 3 роки тому +1

    I have a very nice and simple wooden climbing fingerboard above one of my doors. Far more of a permanent fixture and you have to make sure it's secure but looks better and performs great. Plus it has the advantage is working my finger strength for bouldering. A simple 2x4 could achieve the same thing though really and can be painted to match the wall.
    I'd be very interested to hear your opinion on using what is basically a flat edge for pull ups. Added bonus forearm work or highly limiting due to not being able to wrap your fingers around a bar?

    • @RedDeltaProject
      @RedDeltaProject  3 роки тому

      On of my earlier home gyms had a 2x4 set up like that. I liked using it to walk along with my hands. It worked well, but I think the texture of the wood wasn't ideal. I've found metal supports or something with more texture, like those fingerboards were a more reliable option

    Which pull-up bar for indoor use would you recommend ? I also want to be able to hang rings off it. I'm already using rings in my garage, but I want to have the option of using them inside in the colder months..

    • @RedDeltaProject
      @RedDeltaProject  3 роки тому

      It depends on your situation and what set up you can have. Ideally, anchoring your rings into the ceiling or floor joists would be best. If you have the room, a free-standing bar would be good, if you plan on only pushing down but not doing angles suspension work off of. A door way bar can be more space efficient, but you're compromising height.

    I have the most sold pull up bar of amazon that cost me 30€. I used it at every workout. For pull-up of course but also I found very easy to set up the height to progress on incline push-up. I used it to have something to grab on for my shrimp squat too.
    I’m a student, I’m basically doing bathroom doorway workout haha

      My diet's always been pretty liberal. Today I had a couple of breakfast sandwiches and some fruit for breakfast. Then some greek yogurt mid morning. Lunch was a tuna sandwich with some potato chips and some ice cream after for some "caloric fortification" Now I'm going to head out and grab some sushi.

    Interesting toughts about pull up bars in general. I totally agree with you regarding dedicated grips. These dedicated grips limit the exercises. Moreover, sometimes I feel pain in my elbows using my pull up doorway bar, because the distance between the grips are not confortable for me. When I workout on a public calisthenic park, I don't feel any pain as I grip the bar naturally, on a more confortable position, just a bit wider than shoulder width.

      I suggest is that to avoid left some residue on the surfaces, you can insert some paper inside between the wall or door warm and pull up bar pads

      Simple, there's a great site called Amazon. You can find pretty much anything there lol
      But in all seriousness, this wasn't actually a video I planned on publishing to the public as I made it for the company itself. I figured they wouldn't want me to publish it since my basic recommendation is to not purchase it, but they still wanted me to put it out there. some companies can be funny that way

    If you can drill, I recommend this: www.amazon.com/dp/B008DNAKQK/
    Even if you never move the bar from the top position, it's very stable and you won't have to worry about sideways pressure damaging your door frame.

    Can you do one for cheap dip bars? The cheapest I can find is about £60

    • @RedDeltaProject
      @RedDeltaProject  3 роки тому

      I recommend getting a set of NOSSK straps and doing dips off those. yea, it's a little more challenging but that's the best way to make dips really cheap and portable. Check out the twin trainer review I did here:
