Why do so many dark-colored shoes have bright white soles? And why do people like them? They don't match the shoe nor the outfit you're wearing with your dark shoes.
This video is really helpful because I found a really nice pair of Hoka sneakers and they have a massive white midsole and to me white midsoles look stupid and just get all dirty. My soul is black so my soles should be too. Very nice job with the video I am going to use your method, yours came out looking great especially after you sprayed the sealant had a nice shine. How has time treated the look? Still looking fresh?
@ThomasofAllTrades it's all good! God calls us to help the poor, widows and people that are less fortunate. There was one young man at that orphanage who never had a pair of shoes, his whole life!, until after he graduated high school. Imagine that! I just started a shoe drive. I want to send a whole box over there. I think got about 10 or 12 pairs so far. Just started it last sunday
Those shoes look terrible on your feet bro.. they're too big in like ...all dimensions .. I've never seen a shoe that's too big in the heel before but now I have
Just curious do you need a specific nail polish remover? Like one without acetone or not as much acetone? I just figured any harsh chemicals like acetone may compromise any glue that adheres the part of the shoe or soles to the shoe over time? Thanks
@@ThomasofAllTrades So the shoes I have is brand new and it hasn’t been in a dirt yet so I don’t need to use a nail polish to clean it up ? I can just straight painting it ?
You could use it for leather or rubber. Works better for leather but it also works well on synthetic and rubber. If it gets faded you could always touch up. I don't recommend it on the bottom of the shoes though.
What are the ingredients of the shoe protector spray u used? I live in India and I'm thinking: if I don't find this spray what else could I ask the shopkeeper for that I could use instead of this one. I see other experts like yourself use Acetone to clean the shoes (I like your nailpolish remover idea, maybe easier for me to find near me), acrylic leather paint, acrylic "finisher" (I assume this is like your shoe protector spray). Thank you for your excellent tutorial on this topic. It was easy to understand and very informative!
Thank you so much, I just grabbed regular white acrylic paint from my local dollar store, and painted the mid soles of four pairs of shoes. Wow!! I cleaned with soap and water. Scrubbed with microfiber cloth. Rinsed off soap. Blow dryer to get all water off. Painted with standard white acrylic ($2). Sprayed with shoe protector. I did on foam soles, rubber soles, and some other type of rubber-ish sole (on Ecco shoes) that was yellowing. Results are amazing! I also tried white enamel paint. This was even better because it had a glossy finish so easier to clean than mat. But acrylic was so easy and fast, and mat looks better as well IMO. Thank you !!
Thanks Thomas for nice and detailed video. I needed to do same with my safety shoes so they look completely black.
@@GurinderSinghKooner nice. If the black paint ever gets faded you could always retouch it.

For real.
Black soles are a must!
Thanks for the video, another person grateful for your info :)
Thank you. I'm glad.
thank you looks great!
You're welcome and thank you
Nice job. How is it holding up over time. Any cracks or wearing or fading of the paint?
It seems to be holding up pretty good actually. It can get worn out as your shoes gets worn out but you could always retouch it.

Can you use this on the sole and how would it hold up?
thanks
You're welcome!
What about paint chipping and cracking???
It can fade overtime from scratches. But you can always repaint/retouch it.
So dude walking around all day and bumping your feet against objects did not scrape off the black in spots
Nope. But if they do get scrapped off you can always retouch it.
Thanks, all the good shoes have diff color sole and its so annoying
You can drop the entire first 38 second of this video and a lot of extraneous stuff afterwards.
Nah. That's my intro.
So why did youbuse flat black instead of regular black?
If im am painting soles white
Do i need to add a finisher after it drys?
@@CLifemusic it was just my preference to use flat black. Yes add finisher to protect it

That's the reason why I used the nail polish remover. So far my two shoes that I did this to are still good.
Nice. Exactly what I was looking for. Gonna paint my Ultraboosts! Wish me luck, that is some bumpy ass surface to be painting!
Good luck. You got this!
I'm looking for my ultraboost too, but they're really squishy, i tink it will not last long.
Thanks. Great video and very informative.

Can I paint the white midsole on this product?
@@Joeprincee yes you can
@@ThomasofAllTrades Do I need to leave out the sun or I can just leave it in my room to dry and how many hrs to dry ?
@@Joeprincee I just let it dry overnight inside my house.

@@Joeprincee no. You need to use the nail polish remover coz new shoes has some protective coating. And that's what you're removing
Thanks but can it be done without the sneaker protector? How would it hold without the sneaker protector?
The sneaker protector helps it last longer. It's ok without it but I suggest putting some on just to be safe.
Have these started to chip yet? Did you have to reapply any?
It has some wear now but no I haven't reapplied any.
Great video. Can i asked you how much did you let them dry between the first and second coat ? thx
I did the second coat when it dried. perhaps around 10 mins. i dont really remember exactly. but check what it says on the spray can.
thanks man! ordered all the stuff 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Awesome.
Dollar store/Dollarama for simple acrylic, $2 a bottle and they have all the colours! Worked great for me, despite not being “leather” acrylic.
is it waterproof? Can I use normal acrylitic paint
It's waterproof. But acrylic might fade over time.
So that's a good paint for the rubber midsole? Or rubber period? I'm trying to touch up my Jordan's on the side
You could use it for leather or rubber. Works better for leather but it also works well on synthetic and rubber. If it gets faded you could always touch up. I don't recommend it on the bottom of the shoes though.
No not the bottoms.. just the sides on the midsole around the shoe
@@Cdavis9306 yes it would be fine and it would look really nice
What do you recommend for the outsoles, the bottom part on Jordan 1?
could I use black dye instead of leather paint?
I'm not sure. I only used the ones in the video and it worked really well for my two different pairs shoes. Both Adidas.
Thank you hop it will last...
If it gets scratched. You could always repaint it. But so far so good.
Doing this to my redwings! Thanks!
Nice. I love my redwings.
Would this work on other brands of running shoes as well?
Absolutely
@@ThomasofAllTrades what if you use a different/lighter color other than black (but same paint/brand) do you know if it would come out streaky?
@@writejules if you're not sure of how it would come out. Try it on an older shoe that you would be willing to donate and see if it works out.

Sure will
