Thank you for this video. I haven’t painted due to frustration, but your video hit on almost every point I was having trouble with. Seriously. Thank you.
I’m tempted to say no for a couple reasons. 1. You don’t want the vinyl blowing around as it could alter your stencil. Typically a blow dryer is blowing out with more force than just a heat gun. Is it possible that the blow dryer can work? Probably but I think heat gun is much much much better for the job. 2. Any standard heat gun should do the trick I think this one operates at 500 and 1000 Fahrenheit as it has 2 settings
If you're referring to vinyl you'll be okay using a brush. But if you mean those reusable airbrush pattern/texture stencils they're really meant to be used with an airbrush so you can do soft blends!
Man your customs are so sick!! Is there anyway to get a smoke effect on shoes using a paintbrush? Got a client who is looking for almost realistic smoke to flow throughout the shoe. Any suggestions?
You first have to prep the shoe. Most leather sneakers come with a layer of wax/sealant/protective coat on it that you cannot see. You have to use a deglazer to remove that wax. An acetone of some sort. The angelus leather paint is designed to blend with the leather, not just sit on top of the leather.
@@DeJesusCustomFootwearawesome thank you! Last silly question -- so I have an all black pair of Nikes. My plan is to paint the Nike logo white, along with the sock lining and a portion of the midsole. You think this is possible? Should I paint the sock lining gray first as well?
@@initialize21 I would not recommend that at all, never paint anything white that isn’t white already. It’s going to take tons and tons of paint. Especially on the sockliner the shoes will becomes very stiff. You never want to paint midsoles either, paint and rubber don’t bond
@@DeJesusCustomFootwearthank you so much again. Last question for sure before I annoy you to death lol -- I also have some gray flyknits, but I'd like to dye them purple with Ritdye. Is it possible to dye gray knit into purple, or do I have to start with a white knit material?

@dejesus i want to get some adhesion promoter and have my eye on Rust-Oleum. I see some om amazong and the can says Adhesion Promoter but up top it says Automative Primer. Is it the one I need to get? Thank you for any help in advance

Would love to one day, but right now our focus is really on our in person course THE DCF EXPERIENCE!
Can a hair dryer be used instead of a heat gun? 4:34 And what degrees/setting should the heat gun be at? Thanks!

You got this!
Absolutley fire, love the palette shield technique
hi dillon amazing video as always, i was wondering if i prep the satin of a jordan 1 with the wet sandpaper it will not damage the shoes right?
I would avoid prepping the satin honestly.
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear thanks man so i just paint
i have a quick question for ya kind sir, if ur doing a pair that has velcro on it, in my case a midtop AF1, can you paint the velcro?
Love this video! New to the game! Question to how do you use stencil without an airbrush?
If you're referring to vinyl you'll be okay using a brush. But if you mean those reusable airbrush pattern/texture stencils they're really meant to be used with an airbrush so you can do soft blends!
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear i event reached the airbrush stage yet. I was wondering if there was ways to use a stencil without an airbrush.
Looks fantastic!
Really good. How long have you been doing this? Do you custom them for people? How much would it cost?
All the best.👍🏾🇬🇧
This is sooo helpful! Thank you!
do you use acrylic paint?
Angelus acrylic leather paint

Do u normally add duller to every single colour coat(if goal is the factory look)or only the final one?🤗
Nope no need to use duller, the 4coat finishes are strong enough now to get you any sheen you need
PLEAS SEND ME A DRIP STENCIL SVG I NEED ONE SO BAD
We sell the drip stencils on our etsy 😉
What colors did you use for the drip effect?
What type of vinyl would you recommend using for stencil

How does the paint hold up to daily wear or getting wet? Does it crack or fade?

Where do you find that toothpick brush for the NIKE AIR
It’s just a standard toothpick
Awesome 🎉
What pressure is the air compressor set at??
30 PSI
In tip no.4 how you made those textures on that sheet ?
They’re laser cut
Dam at tip #7 i didn't know you could paint the stitching twice 👌
Let's say I'm trying to paint a white panel on an all-black shoe. Should I still use a gray primer first, or is white fine?
Grey is your best friend.

Could you do a pair of Kyrie low 5's?
Do you use a top coat or protective layer at the end? I'm worried my shoes are gonna look like shit after a couple wears😱
What are the Transformers Bumblebee shoes in the background?
Just a fun bumblebee pair I made close to 10 years ago
what wold you use to paint the mid sole?
Can’t paint midsoles unfortunately! The paints always going to rub off
That’s for that spatula tip… I’d been using CBD for those edges
