Rip Captain Quick Draw 🎹
My best friend's uncle was their manager. Went to several concerts free before i was 13. One summer went on the road with them selling chains and t shirts. First concert for me they were the lead act for the Jackson 5
Wow, what great memories you must have!
Benjamin Ashburn
Incredible TALENT, WOW, Blown away !!
from Kenya..we loved dancing to the mighty commodores...one of the few groups whose live melodious music was as great as their studio recorded music...their ballads are some of the best ever....
The Greatest Group of all time, my Commodores and Lionel Richie and Thomas McClairy the founder.
Thank you saying that all my life
Commodores. Live. In Las. Vegas. 1980 please enjoy😊😊🙏😊😊
Jesus. Is. Lord. And. He is. ♾️ forever. In. Our. Hearts. With 💕💕 love. Commenders
Wow! What a show and im basking in it's glow...only 44 years after!!!
I really wish they would get the remaining original members of the Commodores together for just ONE more reunion concert while they still have the ability to do that for their fans. Fantastic job on the song Jesus Is Love. Amen
Yes that would be awesome if they did a tour with the remaining living members . Keyboardist Milan Williams died years ago unfortunately but the others are still here.
@@adrianlyord5300 I had no idea that Milan Williams died. Sorry to hear he passed away. Love the Commodores Music.
@@veedapd588 out of all The original Commodores that's still touring today is William King , Walter Orange, and JD Nichlos , who joined the group in 1984/85. The rest of the guys need to re-group, that would be awesome huh?! Keep on lovin The Commodores!!!
Thomas McClary and Ronald LaPread joined Lionel in New Orleans during a summer festival there a couple years ago.
Closet reunion us fans could get.
They're selling tickets right now. Your wish came true.
Those glittering outfits of the disco era. :-D
The Michael Jackson "Rock With You" outfit X6 !!!!
I had no idea he did all this even before he became Lionel Richie, I just thought he was Paris Hilton's friends dad.
Just for the moment it takes some folks a life time to find somebody just like you.
Love it!!! This was my high school mascot...The Mighty, Mighty Commodore, Marion Abramson Senior High School New Orleans, LA
Jesus is love forever.
Thank you The Commodors 🚆
Piano, keyboards, saxophone, and lead vocals, Ladies and gentlemen Lionel Richie. Wow.
He was the man! And to think, no formal music education.
Also. solo. career. Thank. you. Lionel. for. all. Standing. ovation
Give it up for Mr. Thomas McClary! Without him Richie maybe would not have become a musician....
@@positiveforce7832 Yes, they could be right, I read it more than one times in music literature;
cheers from Germany - a Lionel fan - still in 2021
The Greatest group of all-times
What about Earth Wind and Fire
I miss these Commodores. I saw them twice. 1971, when they opened for the J5 and 1977.
Thomas McClary, the founder of the Commodores. Bad ass guitarist
I don't understand when you say bad ass guitarist. Please explain
A true awesome vocal and musical team of all time. COMMODORES…!
This, real music!! Commodores, Always!!!
Thank you much. They sound just like the albums no auto tune pure talent so thankful I grew up with this music this understanding of music 💕💕
...I had the opportunity to them multiple times!
They did tully sound like their albums .
Even better!!!
THE COMMODORES🥰...GREW UP LISTENING TO LIONEL LOVE HIM AND THE BAND 4 LIFE GOOD TIMES NEVER FELT SO GOOOD🥰💃💃💃🕺
Easy my fav 💕💕💕💕 reminds me of Saturday mornings with my mom dad nana trips to Virginia best of times
Walter Orange should get much more respect! He was a great singer, truly funky.
...So very true, he was the funk master, of this band .
Not only he’s a great singer, a great drummer too.
True, but has no stage presence.
He is the only trained classical musician of the group.
African Americans are got at funk
Good concert, a very talented group with guys playing multiple instruments, I saw them in 2007 only two remaining original members, it would've been a treat if I had saw them in early 80s with Lionel
Yes the commodores are serious,I seem them live in Atlanta when they did the live album, an OMG they rock the house love them
Yes I saw them in the early 80s totally Awesome 💯
I really needed this….especially needed Walter Orange introducing ‘Jesus Is Lord’ in a bedazzled cowboy hat at around 38:30….praise the lord 🙏🏾
By far the best live concert ever. Period. Saw them in 1983 at Cardiff, without Lionel.
Guitarist is very very nice
Großartig!!!👍❤
Bin mit dieser Musik aufgewachsen, und sie hat so manchmal Kraft gegeben....😊🙂
Ain’t no doubt in world best damn band ever can’t be touched period
You must be very young bless your heart ❤️
Let me tell ya.....the best concert I have viewed on UA-cam..but the ending is what we need right now
THE MIGHTY MIGHTY COMMODORES!
Loved their music!!
REAL MUSIC FOREVER ❤️✨🎶
FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE !!!!
Loving Lionel. That was a great show
I like how they never abandon their funk roots no matter how commercial they went
The commadores another all time favorite band also legends in there own time. .from where motown records a he'll of a band
I was there! The old Aladdin Casino. I am so glad I found this video!
Also saw Jethro Tull and the Allman Brothers there.
My best band ever
WHEN YOU CAN SOUND LIKE THE RECORD BUT IT'S LIVE,THAT'S WHEN YOU KNOW WHOEVER IT IS SINGING AND PLAYING THE INSTRUMENTS,CAN REALLY SING AND CAN REALLY PLAY THEIR INSTRUMENTS.AND A BIG SHOUT OUT TO WALTER CLYDE ORANGE ON THE DRUMS.AS A DRUMMER MYSELF,I KNOW IT AIN'T EASY TO PLAY AND LEAD SING AND DO ALL HE'S DOING HERE.A BIG BIG THUMBS UP TO HIM AND ALL THE COMMODORES,NOT JUST LIONEL RICHIE.
Its easy
@@ericcraig3809 true, you just have to not try and sing in the same cadence as the original song. WE set the groove.
Clyde basically did the heavy lifting on his end.
Not only that, but Clyde had (has) one of the better voices of his generation. A WHOLE LOTTA of the extended vocalizations, the high tenor, the raspy soul stuff, and virtually ALL of the harmony, was Walter Orange.
Man that's wonderful. How long have you been playing???
Love this video so much. 2020 and I still love this group of guys.
Really worth rerealese on digital medium, great show im so glad to finally see this i had the live album and imagined seeing them
I love motown singers in 70s these songs are great i love hearing them and music videos it bring a whole lot memories just keep playing them i love it god bless thanks ya so much sister in christ and queen on mission for the lord amen amen may god bless ya and all america go in peace and love and 🙏 and keep 😃 and laughing
JUST GENIUS TALENTED AND GIFTED, WRITER LIONEL RICHIE YOU GO BOY, SAW THEM IN CHICAGO IN 1976 WHAT A SHOW GIFTED BAND ALSO ,MISS THOSE DAYS GREAT TIMES.
Love The Show.
Such a BEAUTIFUL,,meanful song
LORD HAVE MERCY !!!!!,,,,,,,,, Commodores forever,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Thank you so much! 🎶🥰🎶
I was their WAITER at the Manila Hilton when they went to the Philippines!!!! LaPread was the one who signed ticket.Wow Machine Gun!!!
Had to be a great moment for you .
All time favorites! I would love to sit down with Lionel and ask him questions about that time.
Thanks for uploading
Go Lionel he played a lot of instruments
They all were mullty talented singer munitions.
One of the greatest ( Rock Soul Funk Band's ) of all time's.
What No Brick house? No Zoom? This concert is not complete without those two classic hits.
Sho' you right !
THE ORIGINAL COMMODORES as College Students they would tour and Open up For A Group of High School Kids called THE JACKSON 5.And I notice a lot of the same Dance Moves and even early costumes worn by both Groups and I can't help but wonder who copied who or was it mutual as they Both Grew and went on to Be SUPERSTARS.Love&Peace😁😎✌🤘💙🖤luv ya byo eJ
Great post, very rare concert to capture them in this era. I WISH someone had a concert from Slave and Steve Arrington LIVE in concert in the 80s (BTW 'Lady' is actually called 'Still')
Saw the Commodores with Lionel Ritchie at the Omaha Civic Auditorium 1976 or 77 -- four rock and rollers from Offutt AFB with free tickets waiting to make fun of them. They ROCKED THE HOUSE!!! We were blown away! A guitar player (McClary? King? Who knows!) came over to where we were seated and threw a pick at us. A couple of great looking chicks dived at it! What a fucking party, man! For the next month, The Commodores replaced Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple in the halls of the military dormitory we lived in. Great times! Thank you Commodores!
Love Lionel!
It’s commodores
Who remembers the movie Endlessl Love...
The best music was made in the 1970's!
60s & 70s! 🎶🥰🎶
Thanks for the post!!!
Thanks so much for sharing. I had this same concert recorded on VHS tape in the early 80's, but my Mom erased it. This is the first time I've seen this concert in about 35 years. I always remembered Lionel Richie singing to Susan Anton.
Was Zapp on this tour?
Love you reelblack!
This is so awesome!!
Thanks for this :)
Aww❤❤"Commodore's." 🍓
First track is „Machine Gun“
Shame how the media could break-up such a great band.
Bad boys here 👍
It's still one of the best
Wow!
yeah!!
Thanx, RB. Mixed feelings on this one. Great band in 70s, 80s... then, in steps the System up 2 its usual Tricknology & good-bye money. Sad to see such gifted Brothers manipulated in this way, but even I didn’t understand the Systemics back then. Great concerts in those days!
💜💜💜💜💜
They actually had a backup band called the Mean Machine you can see them in some shots
Wow didn't know that. Does that mean that for instance the bass player of the Commodores was faking it live ? Of what instruments did the backing band consist ? It's not like the Commodores were a purely vocalist group, so to have a backup band for a band that already has instrumentalists as their regular band members, that's strange.
It was not uncommon to have a backup group and singers in the wings. Now they use soundtracks.
@@beatz04
No their bass player Ronald LaPread definitely was not faking it. The Mean Machine consisted of 3 musicians they took out on the road with them. I can't remember their names. It's like EWF had extra musicians they referred to as the Phenix horns.
@@raygu1818 ...The Mean Machine: was their four man.
Back up rythem section, they also sang back ground .
Switch instruments during performance.
The Commodores were a complete band and show.
I saw them on six occasions; in three different cities.
My only disappointment was.
When they shared the billing with, I think three or four other groups .
The songs were short and not their best!!!but still pretty good.
@@beatz04 ...Nope they didn't fake their performances.
Damn Lionel didn't get to do the sermon at the beginning of Just To Be Close To You.
Ah I found i thought material things had so much valya 🤣🤣🤣
I need a biopic and an Unsung immediately
nostalgia
You. Are. Once. Twice. Three times a. Lady. And. I. 💕💕💕💕 love. You
Your. My. Lady. For. What. We. Had and. So. Many. Things. We did. Not. Know. But. I. Do. 💕💕💕 love. You. Still.
Their drummer was hittin
Great stuff, but I wonder why they sang some of their songs (Still and Sail On for example) faster than usual. Were they under time constraints?
How could they NOT play "Lady(You Bring Me Up)" ??? Anyone have a circa video of that song? And the commercials suck too.
Lady came out in 1981 and this concert was in 1980😅
💟💟
CROWN THEM👊🏾
Lionel was just too big of a talent for the Commodores to contain. I was so disappointed and hated it when he left the band but i understood. His showmanship and charisma along with his writing and musicianship is what made him one of the most successful solo artists ever
He was better with The Commodores. Yes I know he wanted to go solo but the team of himself, and Walter orange a.k.a. Clyde was awesome.
@@kayandaeddings4803 Amen. Love Richie but he had the Commodores cross so far over, they couldn't come back after he was gone
@@MzJanuary I know I’m right. They barely made a come back with she got me going to the bank in 1987. But before that, they had the biggest song in 1985 with night shift.
Mr.Thomas Mcclary!!!
Yeah!!! Without him Richie would have been nothing!
@@positiveforce7832 , I Wont gonthat Far!
Very good and underated Guitarist! His guitar solo on the song " Easy " is awesome and its very iconic in music history!
👍✌
💎💎💎💎💎
They the band
Tenho em VHS........
Lionel!!!!!!
...Lady's and gentlemen, the (Commodores)!!!
Wow Ronald Lapread
I know it's a short show but besides Zoom and Brick House, where's Fancy Dancer or Sail On?
Fancy Dancer was the SOUL/Funk hood cut,..the best funk,..and Zoom and Sweet Love were the slow cuts !! They played Brick House to death in the 70's and 80's,..and it never recovered to me !! Sail On was at 17:00...
I wonder was this the tour that Bob Marley and the Wailers were on?
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Just. Celàbrate. Commders
Axe the "Three Times a Lady" performance; otherwise, great show!
