  • Epigenetics is a very new field that examines how a person's environment and their genes work together to determine health outcomes. In this video, Dr. Gleicher explains why it is relevant for fertility treatment (specifically for donor eggs) and pregnancy. Learn more about this topic on CHR's website: bit.ly/2QEbkC5

We’ve been trying for years. We had nearly lost hope to have children. It seemed there was no solution, no open door. Through a friend's recommendation, we learned about the fertility clinic abroad and heard really good reviews. We decided to go to Eastern Europe to have de IVF. There was hope. From the first moment the experience was very good. We had a fantastic apartment provided by our clinic. So we felt very much at home. Wonderful staff, experienced doctors. I don't want to go over the details, but doctors put the final pieces of the puzzle together. It was not an easy journey for us. It is never easy. There were ups and downs, even tears. We wanted one healthy child. Today we are holding our precious baby. Finally, my dream turned into reality.

I understand wanting a baby, but sometimes, it's best to accept that nature didn't intend for you to fall pregnant (or fall pregnant with your spouse's child) and move on. All of that effort when it was clearly never meant to be, all of that artificialness, often not even using your own eggs, either... It's just bullshit. We should be investing in feeding the starving or housing the children without a home using that money instead.

No one has an obligation to invest their own money in projects that you like. If you want to invest in homelessness, go for it, but don't tell others what matters when they build a family.

This man seems to get off on seeing to it that women give away their eggs. I can't imagine a more gross injustice for the children that result from that action. There's nothing altruistic or "good" about giving away your baby for no good reason.

You have no idea what it is to be in a situation where you and your couple cannot have children by any other means than egg donation. Millions of babies wouldn't be born each year if it weren't for this miraculous medical discovery.

@@Mkeyvillarreal And by the way, your comment does not prove my point wrong. I don't see those people who need donor eggs do "altruistic" things for other infertile couples. They could have been surrogates, for example. Or they could have had their male partners donate sperm "because it's altruistic".
It's only ever considered altruistic when they want other people to do it for them.

@@iamcornholiooooo3019 I don’t think it’s altruistic at all. But it’s not evil or wrong either. I think it’s unfortunately necessary sometimes, and the only option for some people who can’t have kids. Deciding to engage in it It had nothing to do with morality

@@iamcornholiooooo3019 you sound so uneducated. Your saying surrogate ok but some woman have low egg count and they can’t put their egg and partner sperm into the surrogate. Which is where egg donation comes in. You think these women want someone else egg ofc they want to be able to do it on they own but they can’t. Plus with egg donation these women have a chance to experience pregnancy and childbirth which can’t be done using a surrogate. So please don’t speak if you don’t know and don’t pass judgment bc you don’t know everyone situation
