    For me it’s racing thoughts. They pop up out of nowhere (all directions) constantly. It’s mostly when I am overwhelmed with demands, distracted and being pulled in several different directions at work… and trying to focus and concentrate on work that needs to be done.

    I’m crying. Why hasn’t a single one of my therapists told me about this? This is amazing. I hope it continues to work because usually I find a temporary solution that only works once or twice. I wonder if a fidget spinner follows this same train of thought.

    This actually did help my mind calm down! When I sped my thoughts up it made me a little nauseous, and when I slowed them down it felt much better. Then my thoughts transformed and I had the idea to use a pulling motion like I was pulling the thoughts out of my brain, and then went to write all those thoughts down in my bullet journal. It's like I just emptied my mind of all that clutter, and it feels loads better! Thank you so much!

    I know you put this out a while ago, but I actually stopped in my thoughts the moment I had my finger spinning in the opposite direction. This was amazing, I can't believe it actually helped with the spinning thoughts. Thank you

    Wow! I'm so impatient and I go so fast. That it was torture to wait until you got to the point. I hung in there. And my feeling went from sort of anxiety 2 all of a sudden it was like you were hypnotizing me almost. My eyes started to Blink very slow. Like I was going to sleep or something. This is cool! But hey. For us impatient ADHD try to get to the point quicker because it's torture! LOL.

      Well i don't feel like writing the comment again but can you relate to this:
      I been working on that allloot

      And one the piano and sound and drawing
      It's veeery similar to what you are saying abd that helpt wih my attention allllloooot
      There was a scientist speaking about something called brain blinks and that it's related to the eye blinks
      So if you kept focusing your attention on a point for a minute without blinking that will increase your focus
      And this was magical for me
      It has helped me aloooot
      With training i became able to shift my attention better the same way i do with my eyes
      I do smth very similar with the piano and my voice abd drawing
      It's just like controling your mind physically
      There is something called the zing exercise it was proving to be very helpful with ADHD and it does smth very similar to all of this and what you're saying
      My cognitive abilities has improved alot with those exercises
      I was thinking that maybe I do have ADHD because my ability to focus is getting better
      Although I know the brain fog that you're taking about very well
      I've heard two days ago smth called wight noise it was just going through my brain and turning off the radios and it stopped the two much energy inside me within just a minute i was shocked
      The same feeling when i hear noises (not related to anything or it'll be distractive) from the background.
      And I'm shocked again when I've heard you saying that!!
      Does anyone feel the same
      And should i be hyperactive and have racing thoughts or this brain fog all the time to have adhd?!

    Hi there, I'm a prior infantry Marine. With 2 combat deployments under my belt. I'm currently taking college course which is a huge change from where I was. The amount information that I have to relearn as well as the new material being presented coupled with the general getting used to civilian life gets very overwhelming sometimes. I was having some headaches and thoughts going back and forth to different places that most if not all were negative. But the simple act of breathing and using my hand to focus my mind really helped. I didn't notice a change until I reversed the direction I was spinning my hand. At first I was confused and couldn't think but then I reversed again and noticed my hand was moving slower and my mind came to reality and calmed itself. So at least in my experience with this method it helped to put me back into a better frame of mind. Thank you for the video. I'll be using this more often.

      Good job, Logan! I am so happy that this helped you. That's why I'm doing this.
      It's a good idea to do it again, if you need to. The confused state that you experienced before reversing again is fine. It's just your mind saying: "WOW, what just happened?"
      Good idea to reverse again and great noticing that your hand movement slowed down.

    I call this effect is "mind racing". I can't define a direction for it, because it's random images, fantasies, thoughts etc. A little I can control, just saying STOP in my mind some times, but I'm not always aware of my mind race. Mostly when I'm working and trying to concentrate tasks or just I'm in a rush.
    BTW: I'm not taking medicines. I just trained my coworkers and family to deal with me. The first year my boss is thinked I'm a little crazy, because I forgetting things when it's sounded seconds ago or just started one thing/task, abandoned and jumped to an other one. After we got some talk, we can handle together my everyday chaos.
    PS: Sorry my bad english folks. I never learned this language in schools.

      I'm the same. They're not "spinning" it's more they're too many, and slippery. I think of a task I need to do, then as soon as I pick up my pen to write it down it's gone again. Or I can only remember half of it.
      I usually get this way when I have too much going on / have been working too much...

    My thoughts dont spin it feels like my whole brain is pulsating and my its hard to think straight almost like if a radio station had static and the the static was louder than the words

    Going my regular direction I was repeating the problem and what’s wrong and when I went backwards I was resolving the problem and how it’s okay. When I slowed it down I was repeating it’s okay the situation is fine... I loved this

    I have terribly vivid thoughts that intrude like "What if I lost my mind?", "what if I hurt myself or someone else?", "What if (insert family member here) died horribly?", and then my brain starts to spiral and my imagination tries to create a mental image of what that would look like and i end up having a panic attack... The reason I looked up this video was because it was happening again. After the intro, I was like "oh I see where this is going" closed my eyes and imagined my thoughts as a wheel spinning in my head. Then I thought "stop!" And imagined slamming on the brakes... Woah was that the wrong move... I didn't think it would be so abrupt. It felt like vertigo and triggered panic mode again because my thoughts just ground to a halt. Then I tried it after you explained the process and it felt so good. Literally slowed my thoughts down comfortably and steadily, I was so surprised, but thank you for this. ♥️

    Mine was more of a movie reel. I couldn't see the edges of the images that flashed by. I incorporated the method and found that i could pull away from the rotation and see the entire "reel" of thoughts, then slowed it down just like you said! Thanks a ton!

    Holy shit! This actually worked!!! My mind has been racing all day and i havent been able to sit down and focus on any task. Yet after trying this simple thing (wich sounded like a bogus trick at first) i could acttually focus on what i was doing. p.s. It works great alongside medication

    When you first said to take your finger and spin next to your head I realized I was doing it fast. It was a different feeling after you said slow down and even in reverse the motion. My mind felt neutral after that. Interesting. Thank you

    Interesting. Only just listened, so placebo may be primary at the moment, but the metaphor that seems strong for me is the thought as a lab beaker of strongly boiling, bubbling water. Then what happens if I turn down the heat and it bubbles a little less, then I can turn the heat off to not bubble at all, or further transition to your solid ice.
    I think I've also realised that I thought I had 20 bubbling beakers, but in fact when I stop the one bubbling I raised that it was pretty much just that one.
    Thanks, fingers crossed it's not just a 2 minute placebo.

    So helpful!!! Calmed me down so fast and broke me out of my thoughts. I've done a lot of visualization for bigger things but this is great and I will be doing this all the time for when I get lost in thoughts throughout the day.

    It calmed me down and when i first started spinning my finger backwards my body felt tense my chest alittle suffocated but after accouple of mins or so, towards the end of the video my body relaxed anf the thought disappeared. Loveee this thank you!

    I started out listen at X2 speed although when you went through the exercise, I watched at normal speed. My thoughts seemed to move from racing to stack at the top of my head. Like a blockage of all the racing thoughts.

    My ADHD is static and noise in my brain that makes it harder to think, focus, and comprehend anything. It’s also like a breach in the hull of a ship floating in a water of distracting thoughts. My medication clears the static and acts like duct tape on the breach, but when I’m not medicated I struggle to stay focused on anything or be productive. It’s the bane of my existence

    It's 5am and I have been awake for hours going over injustices I am currently experiencing, doing the hand actions did allow me to think better and relax somewhat I am hoping to get some sleep before the sun comes up.

    Haha yes definitely you talk too slow for me to 😅But I managed to survive to the end too lol.
    I did not use the motion coz of the environment at time but I have amazingly realistic imaginations -can imagine motions pattern smells colors sounds as they are really happening ... so I imagined the process ... and as I reversed ... It stopped .... what a surprising technique 👌👌 Im impressed 👌👌

    I found it really hard. Especially backwards. But I feel like my thoughts aren’t going in a spin but more like branches. Starting at one point going forward and then splitting into another and another and another and then it’s really hard to go back and find that first split.

    I did the exercice at the same time you were exlaining it and i found it really relaxing to slow the thought process down. My breathing is more deep and slow too. I hope this trick Will work again. I have some kind of rebound effet since i started concerta in the evening : my mind is All over the place once the meds wear down and it's worse than before taking the meds. It's interfering with my sleep. Thanks for your vidéo.

    My problem is body related where I can't stop thinking about how vulnerable I feel. And the talk gets negative-broke with the most beautiful babe I ever scored with a couple years ago and even today I'm like-”if only I was stronger and if only my body...” I gotta find a method to help stop the negative talk about my own body. Even though I did apply for disability because I've had such an issue with this neurological vulnerability & functionality problems.

    I am 43 years old and I constantly think about my past life my dad had a successful manufacturing business I had powerful people in my life younger age ADHD LD Gemini and bi ppolar probably wonder at 43 why I wasn't successful I didn't apply myself enough I took of avantage of my dad I think most likely now work and I'm constantly spinning applying for jobs always thinking what's next where can I go in life how do I stop it how do I find contentment I have a girlfriend faith a job a dog Hobbies I have all this stuff and I constantly think what if this that ther other

    Intresting to read the comments. I have pretty much the same. For me it feels as a radio station that i pick up on the whole freaking day, trying to convince me how shit my life is and wanting me to awnser those thought. I just try to stay in the moment. But its so so harsh.

    Thoughts don't spin... my jump from one to another to another to another... trying to focus and have a thought suddenly pop into my head stops me and I lose track of what I am thinking and when I am having lots of different thoughts - this exercise doesn't help.

    i myself often visualise it as a set of train tracks.. they are all different some have intersections others are linear yet others have track switches. now relying on the situation and what i'm doing this all will differ.. if i'm for example having a panic attack all trains will go too fast and de rail or crash into another train because those switches went haywire and made them go the wrong way. basically it sometimes for me feels like a ton of trains are going from point a to be over and over sometimes it is in a spinning motion sometimes it's simply left to right or up and down. forwards then backwards as the train enters it's endpoint the rewind button is pressed and it starts all over again. and again and again.. this is usually an issue when i have to sleep and go somewhere the next day however as i'll be up all night trying to stop those trains from running wild. but i fail in doing so thus end up in this what i call "power saving mode" where i am wide awake yet so sunk into thought that i don't move or notice anything going on around me. it's just me darkness and my thoughts. i suppose the fact that i am a lucid dreamer is also something that might be interesting as even when i'm asleep i'm able to have complex thoughts and actually change the things around me. like how detailed some of the buildings and places are in my dreams every now and then where i can distinguish every brick every inperfection even every little crack or individual leaf of the ivy that is growing on the front of a building to a point where i sometimes literally go : wow that's impressive because i know i'm dreaming and my own visualisation of that building is so detailed and realistic that i end up suprising myself. the fact that i know when i'm dreaming also sometimes leads to interesting conversations or situations in my dream world. (now my dream world is like a parralel to the real world.. it has places very similar or almost identical to the real counterparts yet still so very different. there are even whole seperate cities. there is the main city aka the one that is actually based on the city i live in. then there is another city wich is more of my ideal version of the city i live in though things aren't as ideal as they initially seem. there are intricate mysteries in them like how there is a toy store that gives away toys to children that first enter. they are allowed to pick whatever they want from the store just because they haven't been there before..however something odd is going on with the toystore as where you'd expect the backdoor to lead to a backalley it instead leads to a metro tunnel. possibly to kidnap kids ? or maybe it's just a different way to bring in the toys by train cargo.. either way it's a mystery i've yet to solve. this however is only one of the few worlds there is a 3rd wich is kind of odd even to me where the first world is based upon the real.. the second being an ideal futuristic utopia with mysteries around every corner the 3rd is a militaristic fantasy world that has two sides to it and is located on an island. the regular overworld is a place with a few places to note. there is a canal area that spreads pretty widely in wich people get around in motorboats only. then there is the dock area wich is dim and quite grim as there are creatures that roam there at night. there is a hospital and a similar place to the toy store however in this place it's a confectionery where kids can come design their own cakes and candies. perhaps the metro line connects to it i do not know. but though they are completely different places they are similar in vibe. finally there is a military base/airport in the overworld.. then the underworld wich is only able to be accessed by the mages of the army and those that have a special band that allows them to open a portal. any civillian found in there however is immideately prosecuted and the inside is maze like.. and kind of reminds me of that one painting with all of the stairs going up and down into infinity from the same maker as the melting clock painting. there are many more areas that are peculiar in the other two worlds but i've already written a literal book in this one comment. so if anyone wants to know more about the other two worlds then just leave a comment and say so. i'll be glad to talk about it and explain more of the intricacies of my subconsious

    I have been trying to achieve this effect with meditation and/or by using Somatic Experiencing techniques to regulate my body, and it just takes way longer to get there.
    This trick seems to actually provide a direct handle on the process itself. It worked instantly for me.
    I felt like freaking out when I sped up, and indeed quickly realized how I could just as easily spin the thing down. Brilliant!
    I've never heard before about human beings being able to speed up or slow down their thought processes. Is this placebo?!

    You look like a really genuinely hearthy man. A therapist even.
    I pretty much lost faith in our mental health care facilities. Seems I somehow tend to freak my coaches, some bad experiences with therapy.
    And well this video just restored that faith a little bit.

      +Suspiriaxx - I am so happy that you had an awesome effect after watching the video. It really is extraordinary how easy it is.
      It's obviously not a cure-all, but it gives insight into what is really happening inside the mind of some of us. Most people are able to do what you just did, if they have spinning thoughts.
      I hope that you got more insights from watching the other videos. Basically the process is part of the high-level programming of the mind. Interesting that you mention placebo, because isn't placebo just the mind creating a physical effect on the body because it believes that this effect should appear?!
      What you just did is a process of the mind, - not of the brain. It may (and probably does) have physical consequences in the brain, but first and foremost it's a mind process. This is where we do our cognitive functions, - our complex thinking. So when you take conscious control of it (for the first time) you are able to reprogram your executive functions. This is a very basic exercise, and you can do it in great detail when you learn the moves.

    I get random thoughts about really mundane things that don't make much sense at all to think. For a while I started thinking I was going crazy but I saw a psychologist who said it was just a form of overthinking. It's not a voluntary sense of overthinking, like stress or worry that I am committed to at the time, it's more like a random thought that I instantly realise is weird and nonsense. It's hard to come up with an example as I can barely remember them, they come only every so often. Just wondering if this is my ADHD and I can apply your vid to it, or if this is just something else. It's nothing too bad but it just creeps me out as soon as it happens.

    What if the thought's spin in alot of differant directions at the same time? Like an atome for example. In my case it's more like a messy ball of yarn and every tread is a sound or someone speaking i heard durring the day. Some even light up.
    But yea im not sure if the spinning with your finger works in thia case:p

    For me, every piece of information, for example, a visual detail, a sound , a smell, or even a random thought generates a lot of associations and thoughts. Every association/thought that is generated proceeds to generate another batch of associations and thoughts. So on and so forth. Any tips?
