Had the black version for a few days so far. Maybe I missed it in the video I but didn't see the usual segment on THOT Protection. I stumbled on that in the settings it's called System Cloner. There's a whole suite of scumbag features in this OS I'm only used to seeing in custom ROMs. Also the IR blaster is the most underrated feature in the whole smartphone market. The TVs at work are about to catch hell.
Being locked into an ecosystem sucks! I got my whole family on my Apple One plan. Everybody syncing and backing up their iPhones and MacBooks. Everyone using all the Apple services that are included. I got Apple AirTags on every dam thing, from remote controls, to keys, water bottles, wallets, purses and cars. Got the iPads and AirDropin' all the family photos to each other. Everyone using the Apple Music. Everyone using and loves the FindMy app for all the things. I'm so buried in Apple, that when something cool like this comes out, I can't jump ship. I'm stuck. Even my wife was like "No way! You can't change! We share passwords and locations with each other and all kinds of stuff." - She's right... I'm stuck. - So when you're sitting next to an iPhone user and unfold your awesome OnePlus Open, don't call us "Apple Sheep". We know it's awesome. We're trapped!
I feel you on that. Coming out of high school I was constantly changing my phones because I was a droid user. 2-3 years into college I went ahead and bit the bullet with the Apple ecosystem. Graduated and started making “Adult” money so I had my whole family on my cellphone plan. I ended up buying everyone a new iPhone 13 Pro Max so there weren’t anymore green text bubbles, could share data and pictures without the downgrade in quality, and here I am now bored as hell with my iPhone. I said it sucks to suck, but I’m leaving 🤷🏾♀️. I’ll still have my iMac, MacBook, iPad, etc., but imma gift my phone, AirPods Max (if they can’t sync), and Apple Watch to my niece or nephew 😂. They’ll enjoy it.

Man, now I want this. If they add the stylus support I'm picking it up for sure. If only Samsung would widen the cover screen and upgrade the cameras on the Z Fold - it would be just about perfect for me.
I've read that a wider display maybe coming to the z fold 6. I hope that's the case. I'm in the same boat with you. If Samsung widens there display and have current flagship cameras, Samsung would dominate the foldable market IMO.
It took me about 3 months to adjust to the narrow front screen but it's great now for 1 hand operation. I would be down for a wider front screen though so the inner screen is even bigger with less black bars.
The phone is so cheap now compared to it's original price. I love your videos because you show the phone 100% of the time. It's so annoying to have a tech reviewer review tech and have the camera on them most of the time, because ya know tech reviewers are known for looking like models , like shut up, show the tech! This may sound crazy, but I'm tempted to trade in Galactus 2.0 for this phone. I don't know why but I started getting the urge for a foldable or tablet, only for OnePlus to announce this phone. And after they unveiled everything, it seems like they went all out. Aside from no wireless charging. But everything else from the build to the cameras to the displays! Also I got excited when you said it has an IR blaster!
@@MrRaiderg77 This isn't true. It would be $700 plus tax after trade-in. They have a max of $1,000 trade-in. They word it sneakily to make you think you're getting more. You get $200 right away with a trade-in, and then 800 more (at max) if you have the right phone.

@@FlossyCarteryeah I know you're not high on the pixel phone but for me it has all the best software communication features as a phone device. Stuff like call screening, hold for me, direct my call, and native voice to text would be things that I would use all the time while using my phone device as a productivity machine. I also like that form factor as well with the wider screen but I can see all of the pros and cons of the different devices for sure.

The hardware is stunning. But what I don't understand with all the brands is that they don't look at what Samsung does with the optimised Fold software. I really hate it when you can not set up the front screen apart from the inner screen and that the inner screen acts as 2 homescreens next to each other instead of one big inner screen. Or not able to resize the split screen. I always do that because I ride with Google Maps and an other app simultaneously. Resizing the split screen is so important. This is such a deal breaker for me. Software is more important to me than hardware. One other thing. What is hanging loose on the left top when you have the phone folded with the case on it? My ocd was kicking in and I screamed at the screen "Flossyyyyyyyy what is hanging loose there?" 😂
For the inner display, you can probably use Nova launcher or Microsoft launcher to change the size, shape, and layout of the icons to better suit your needs.
I finally took the dive and bought this after being a long time, trusted, Samsung user. Absolutely NO REGRETS. This phone is what the fold should have been! The only unknown is any support issues that may crop up and any durability issues since this phone maker does not have boots on the ground in North America. I am very excited about this phone. The battery life is INSANE! It really is a pleasure to use. I wish there were more options for live wallpaper offered by the default software. Yes, I have used the IR blaster :) Thank you for your review!

I've been a Samsung Knight for the last few years and I'm currently using the zfold4, but they lost me with the zfold5. They've deicided to settle. All they had to do is make the front screen wider or maybe put the pen inside. It's time to give oneplus a try. Respect for the early real review flossy
@@SKOLVIKINGZ This is what I'm saying! I don't quite understand the big want for a wider screen on a foldable device. I have the fold 4, and I've really gotten to love how it's thinner when closed. It's just so easy to do the quick things you need to do. Then when you need more real estate you open the phone. With the Google and One Plus phones being wider, it just gives it bigger bars when viewing videos with the screen open, and they're already too big for the galaxy fold phones.
this was a rather thorough review of the user interface, and all the stuff you get with this device. OnePlus made a good decision to bring this foldable to the US market, and (as IMO Google should have done) went all out to make the price something someone had to think about. My favorite part of Floss videos now is the camera roll. To see Floss's corner of New York is nice.
At 1:25:30 the Google pixel phone trolled you with a nice shot to prove itself!😂 But it's true that true the pixel is the "go-to" over the Samsung. The only reason I didn't go for the OnePlus is because of the pixel fold having widest screen realistate, which for my real-world usage, is more valuable than having more height.

I'm the opposite. I can't deal with slow wireless charging, I need ultra fast wired charge. Plug in for 20 mins while I get ready, and the phone is ready for an entire day.
I wireless charge overnight, and wireless charge with wireless android auto in my truck. I rarely ever need to be plug it in to fast charge. Couple of benefits to that...I'm not wearing out the usb-c plug, and I'm not unnecessarily heating up the phone/battery with high watt charging.
It's so funny to refind this channel as I started to look for my next phone. This is the channel I watched when I ended up buying my Samsung Note 10 +. The phone was great, but, unfortunately, it ended with the charge port no longer working. I thankfully had wireless charging, which has been useful in 2 phones, but, hopefully, that doesn't come up again as I make my move to the Oneplus Open.
Only review on this phone that i trust! 🔥🔥🔥 I get when people say wireless charging is overrated. But for a phone this price. It needs to have wireless charging. Its a flagship phone. No excuses for it not having it.

I usually don't like on OnePlus, their phones usually are mediocre but this phone right here. This one is a triple major go, especially with 120 times zoom. I'm going to have to cope this one, just on a side note, floss is the only reviewer who shows everything. Which is important because you get know so many things about the phone that nobody else shows you. So I said that to say this, thank you floss for putting up quality content for us. 👍
At 1:16:42 in the 3 phone comparison, the Pixel Fold would have better screen size if you was running the Android 14 QPR1 Beta Program, which has the option to resize all apps to full screen. Also you can see from that vertical phone position, Pixel's outer dimensions are almost exact to the OnePlus, which means that the OnePlus turned horizontal would be similar width as a pixel fold, with almost half inch more vertical screen size.
Pre-ordered this phone yesterday, gonna trade in my OnePlus 11. They have some sick preorder deals going on (getting $1300 for my OP11 🤯)! I used to rock the Z Fold 3 & 4 but got tired of the small outer screen so swapped it for the S23U. Excited about getting this one in my hands!
@@RyanShannon85 love it so far! It's fast, has pretty good cameras and the outer screen is large enough for me to barely open it up to tablet mode. All around I'm very impressed!

I finally took the plunge and got myself a OnePlus open as the sale on Amazon was so good. I really love it a lot. I'm holding on to my s24 ultra just in case anything goes wrong. My ultimate plan is to get the OnePlus version 2. My question for you Flossy is that I've heard you mention the always-on display and the icons having a color does the OnePlus open do the color thing? @@shanew7361 It has 4K video recording, but no 8K. It is IPX4 which is pretty water-resistant for everyday use. Watch Mr. Mobile's Inside the One Plus Open - and the machines that torture it to get an idea of how much they put it through its paces. While it doesn't have the highest water-resistant rating, it still isn't a slouch when it comes to water protection. Sure you probably shouldn't dunk it into a water glass or take it into the pool, but with some rain, perhaps accidentally getting it wet in the shower it should handle without a problem.

No i may disGree with part of the aspect of including chargers in the box - i disagree that every phone should include (23-30W wired charging dont even bother an Anker GAN charger or charger fron an iphone 7 or other 5yr old device will suffice). I mean trade ins are nOt caring for thr charger to be included right? But for $1000+ phones and phones that have Fast charging of 60W+ definitely YES i agree! Chargers MUST be included. But lets NOT give a check mark nor a pass with a charger that is a USB-A chaeger !! Shoudl be a USB-C charger from everyone going forward! Cheers and keep making the manufacturers do us right!

I think there's compatible alternatives to most of that stuff, but that's why you don't go balls deep in close source stuff.

The Android version 14 beta is a game changer for the Pixel Fold! You can do full screen aspect ratio on all apps. But I do like the OnePlus!

@@FlossyCarteryeah I know you're not high on the pixel phone but for me it has all the best software communication features as a phone device. Stuff like call screening, hold for me, direct my call, and native voice to text would be things that I would use all the time while using my phone device as a productivity machine. I also like that form factor as well with the wider screen but I can see all of the pros and cons of the different devices for sure.
Software experience is way better on the Zfold 5. I can guarantee you that

The hardware is stunning. But what I don't understand with all the brands is that they don't look at what Samsung does with the optimised Fold software. I really hate it when you can not set up the front screen apart from the inner screen and that the inner screen acts as 2 homescreens next to each other instead of one big inner screen. Or not able to resize the split screen. I always do that because I ride with Google Maps and an other app simultaneously. Resizing the split screen is so important. This is such a deal breaker for me. Software is more important to me than hardware.
One other thing. What is hanging loose on the left top when you have the phone folded with the case on it? My ocd was kicking in and I screamed at the screen "Flossyyyyyyyy what is hanging loose there?" 😂

For the inner display, you can probably use Nova launcher or Microsoft launcher to change the size, shape, and layout of the icons to better suit your needs.

I finally took the dive and bought this after being a long time, trusted, Samsung user. Absolutely NO REGRETS. This phone is what the fold should have been! The only unknown is any support issues that may crop up and any durability issues since this phone maker does not have boots on the ground in North America. I am very excited about this phone. The battery life is INSANE! It really is a pleasure to use. I wish there were more options for live wallpaper offered by the default software. Yes, I have used the IR blaster :) Thank you for your review!

I've been a Samsung Knight for the last few years and I'm currently using the zfold4, but they lost me with the zfold5. They've deicided to settle. All they had to do is make the front screen wider or maybe put the pen inside. It's time to give oneplus a try. Respect for the early real review flossy

@@SKOLVIKINGZ This is what I'm saying! I don't quite understand the big want for a wider screen on a foldable device. I have the fold 4, and I've really gotten to love how it's thinner when closed. It's just so easy to do the quick things you need to do. Then when you need more real estate you open the phone. With the Google and One Plus phones being wider, it just gives it bigger bars when viewing videos with the screen open, and they're already too big for the galaxy fold phones.

this was a rather thorough review of the user interface, and all the stuff you get with this device. OnePlus made a good decision to bring this foldable to the US market, and (as IMO Google should have done) went all out to make the price something someone had to think about.
My favorite part of Floss videos now is the camera roll. To see Floss's corner of New York is nice.
At 1:25:30 the Google pixel phone trolled you with a nice shot to prove itself!😂 But it's true that true the pixel is the "go-to" over the Samsung. The only reason I didn't go for the OnePlus is because of the pixel fold having widest screen realistate, which for my real-world usage, is more valuable than having more height.

Why do yall need slow wireless charging when it charges fully in like 44 minutes lol
I'm the opposite. I can't deal with slow wireless charging, I need ultra fast wired charge. Plug in for 20 mins while I get ready, and the phone is ready for an entire day.
I wireless charge overnight, and wireless charge with wireless android auto in my truck. I rarely ever need to be plug it in to fast charge. Couple of benefits to that...I'm not wearing out the usb-c plug, and I'm not unnecessarily heating up the phone/battery with high watt charging.

It's so funny to refind this channel as I started to look for my next phone. This is the channel I watched when I ended up buying my Samsung Note 10 +. The phone was great, but, unfortunately, it ended with the charge port no longer working. I thankfully had wireless charging, which has been useful in 2 phones, but, hopefully, that doesn't come up again as I make my move to the Oneplus Open.

I usually don't like on OnePlus, their phones usually are mediocre but this phone right here. This one is a triple major go, especially with 120 times zoom. I'm going to have to cope this one, just on a side note, floss is the only reviewer who shows everything. Which is important because you get know so many things about the phone that nobody else shows you. So I said that to say this, thank you floss for putting up quality content for us. 👍

At 1:16:42 in the 3 phone comparison, the Pixel Fold would have better screen size if you was running the Android 14 QPR1 Beta Program, which has the option to resize all apps to full screen.
Also you can see from that vertical phone position, Pixel's outer dimensions are almost exact to the OnePlus, which means that the OnePlus turned horizontal would be similar width as a pixel fold, with almost half inch more vertical screen size.
Pre-ordered this phone yesterday, gonna trade in my OnePlus 11. They have some sick preorder deals going on (getting $1300 for my OP11 🤯)! I used to rock the Z Fold 3 & 4 but got tired of the small outer screen so swapped it for the S23U. Excited about getting this one in my hands!

I finally took the plunge and got myself a OnePlus open as the sale on Amazon was so good. I really love it a lot. I'm holding on to my s24 ultra just in case anything goes wrong. My ultimate plan is to get the OnePlus version 2. My question for you Flossy is that I've heard you mention the always-on display and the icons having a color does the OnePlus open do the color thing? @@shanew7361 It has 4K video recording, but no 8K. It is IPX4 which is pretty water-resistant for everyday use. Watch Mr. Mobile's Inside the One Plus Open - and the machines that torture it to get an idea of how much they put it through its paces. While it doesn't have the highest water-resistant rating, it still isn't a slouch when it comes to water protection.
Sure you probably shouldn't dunk it into a water glass or take it into the pool, but with some rain, perhaps accidentally getting it wet in the shower it should handle without a problem.

No i may disGree with part of the aspect of including chargers in the box - i disagree that every phone should include (23-30W wired charging dont even bother an Anker GAN charger or charger fron an iphone 7 or other 5yr old device will suffice). I mean trade ins are nOt caring for thr charger to be included right?
But for $1000+ phones and phones that have Fast charging of 60W+ definitely YES i agree! Chargers MUST be included.
