I'm curious to know after making your own McRib sandwich-----how much did it cost to make it at home ??? With all the ingredients involved from the bread dough to the Rib rub to the BBQ sauce------it looks very time consuming and expensive for a rib sandwich
@larrybruce4856 I bought the ribs on sale at Costco in a 2pak, which was $12 per slab. I already had the ingredients for the dough and sauce. I used store bought pickles. The biggest thing was the time and love of cooking. When I sliced everything up, it made 3 Mcribs portion size. Total cost per sandwich $5.13. 200% better tasting than McDonald's. I'll never buy another Mcrib ever again! Hope this info helps you out.

I always find it strange, that McDonald's limits the time the McRib is on their menu in the US. Over here in Germany it's ALWAYS on the menu, at least at all larger McD. restaurants. I always liked the McRib, but I don't consider it to be that special for a fast food chain burger either.

It's because Germany consumes a lot more pork than the US compared to beef. If the product would be listed permanently, the demand would drop down really quick.

I made this and it was amazing! I substituted my family BBQ sauce and it was an absolute hit! I made two racks of ribs one with the sherry vinegar one without. The bones came much easier out of the ones with the vinegar. But 10/10 would recommend and will make again!
Fun fact: The McRib is available year round in Germany and Luxembourg! In Germany you can get it with a KitKat McFlurry. Back in 2018 they had a chili-cheese bacon McRib

I went to hong kong a couple years back and their mcdonald’s has something called a prosperity burger that’s pretty similar to a mcrib. it’s pretty much a beef patty smothered in a garlicky sauce topped with a hash brown and sandwiched between two sesame rolls, and yeah, it’s really good. Try it if you can.

I ate them this week. They have changed the taste somehow. They also have Strong cheap onions. I won't buy them again. 12.57$ for 3 of them with tax the price has increased also. They are nasty now. Much better sandwiches are available at competitors

Agreed. They were so good when they first came out but the last ones I had (over 10 years ago) were NOT GOOD. After the first substandard one, I tried it a couple of more times to make sure it wasn’t a fluke. It’s possible the recipe or method changed but I think it’s just that my palate has matured. I taught myself to cook food from scratch and have been unable to eat 90% of "fast" or processed foods since. Even food from most chain restaurants are hit and miss. Now, when I see the commercials announcing "the return of the McRib", I no longer have to feel forever bereft of one of my former favorite specialty sandwiches.

Made this today, buns and all. sadly, the bones didn't want to be removed as smoothly even after almost 4 hours in the oven, so I basically had to make sort-of "pulled pork"-ish, but the taste was divine. since I don't like pickled cucumbers, I instead chose pickled red onions as a topping, which gave the sandwhich a nice kick. oh, and the sauce in this recipe is a lot, so I slathered the buns with sauce as well, and still had some left over so I just bottled that up for next time.

The McRib is just like Skyrim for me. Every year or two I think "Oh dude that sounds awesome" then I try it again and my disappointment is immeasurable.

Agreed. They were so good when they first came out but the last ones I had (over 10 years ago) were NOT GOOD. After the first substandard one, I tried it a couple of more times to make sure it wasn’t a fluke. It’s possible the recipe or method changed but I think it’s just that my palate has matured. I taught myself to cook food from scratch and have been unable to eat 90% of "fast" or processed foods since. Even food from most chain restaurants are hit and miss. Now, when I see the commercials announcing "the return of the McRib", I no longer have to feel forever bereft of one of my former favorite specialty sandwiches.
ive heard that the Mcrib comes only when a recession is close or is already occurring. shoutout to the sandwich thats better at predicting economics better then wall street, lol.
I was told it only comes back when the price of pork lowers, that's why it comes and goes. Wether it's true or not I'm not sure

Made this today, buns and all. sadly, the bones didn't want to be removed as smoothly even after almost 4 hours in the oven, so I basically had to make sort-of "pulled pork"-ish, but the taste was divine.
since I don't like pickled cucumbers, I instead chose pickled red onions as a topping, which gave the sandwhich a nice kick.
oh, and the sauce in this recipe is a lot, so I slathered the buns with sauce as well, and still had some left over so I just bottled that up for next time.
I think the concept of the McRib makes it sound more exciting than it is in reality.
