Great video Jermaine, i definitely could use these drills, I also find myself struggling to get barrel tires ball sometimes because I move my hands too much, everytime I get in my launch my hands are in a different spot, I like how you said taking unnecessary movements out of the swing, something we could all work on to have a repeatable swing
What a great video. I got myself into a 45/older league. Im 42 but i havent played baseball since elementary. I havent been able to get any launch hits. All grounders. And most of my grounders feel like im getting jammed. This video will help me out alot!
Quiet before storm like golf there is a pause at the top pitchers also etc
Hey Jermaine, I enjoyed the video!
Quick question do you know any drills I could work on to get my top had more extension at contact? Thanks.
yes, the 2 tee drill. www.dropbox.com/s/yrgmsjsf5nzr5v9/2%20TEE%20DRILL.mp4?dl=0
Thank you so much I have a double header today and will definitely try this out! Yesterday I was noticing my top hand not extending and both of my hits wound up being those ground balls to my pull side (2nd base).
No problem. Definitely try that drill out but make sure you think opposite side in the game because your young to teach your self, in that drill, to push your point of contact out front.
Will do, thanks!
Do the hands go back or is it separation from the body moving forward? Some videos on youtube discourage moving the hands back but have the hands stay back as you shift forward. Just asking.
Great question, Coach Princi. From my experience, when I tell some players to move their hands back, they tend to arm bar and get disconnected, so instead, I tell them to just think about raising the elbows up - Picture the hands almost getting raised to the back ear, but with the focus on raising the elbows. This keeps their hands from being pushed back into the arm-bar position, and also gets their hands to move into what I believe is the proper 'loaded' position. Does this makes sense?
@@JermaineCurtis55 yes that helps. Thanks
@@JermaineCurtis55what do you make of hitter after hitter that has the arm bar?
Across eras, Babe Ruth, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Ken Griffey Jr, Mike Trout, Fernando Tatis Jr., even in this clip Bryce Harper and JD Martinez are very close to what is considered a “barred arm”
And that isn’t close to an exhaustive list, just an example of guys over many different decades that all barred their arm as the approach the forward swing.
Curious what your thoughts are, thanks
Good points knob to catcher power position ok look at Ruth and Griffey very similar in that and they compare Griffey to Will Clark BUT as I look at it Clark did. Not have pronounced knob to catcher as Griffey and not as many home runs great hitter though
Ruth took a 3 foot stride, no comparison to this no-stride hitting
