My Roam didn't like the new update and needed a second attempt whilst the Arc Ultra, 2 Subs Gen 3, 4 Era 300's, the Beam Gen 2 and the Mini Sub all flew through first time.

I wish Sonos would offer a high quality microphone to use with all platforms. This would provide the best possible result since Sonos knows the mic specs. Even Apple mics differ from model to model, but not as much as all different Android ones.
Amen Brother, ... team up with TEAC, SONY, Sennheiser (somebody who understands and knows how to build this stuff) and offer the unit as an accessory. Absolute No-Brainer !!
Fascinating to see some actual data from measurements! I use full trueplay on both my AV setups, using my c***py old iPhone 11 (which is just an app test platform as Android is my preference for my daily phone use) and always felt it made a big difference, particularly on my smaller setup. Not sure I'd bother replacing the iPhone if Sonos stop supporting it, so good to know the option of Android tuning, though not perfect, is still going to give an improvement.
I think you are supposed to switch true play off, but given this review it looks like true play did very similar to the manual settings anyway, drop bass and increase treble.
You need to repeat these expirement serveral times in diffrent rooms to statistcally conclude. Right now it could include a lot of bias from the mic that will change the tune each time that you measure.
So if you perform full true play on IOS and then change the settings as in your best settings video, does it negate doing the original true play process?
My Ultra has a very loud center channel and the left and right channel is very weak. It seems like the audio mix is messed up. I contracted Sonos support about this and they said it was known and were looking into it. Has anyone else noticed this on their Ultra's, i'm wondering if it is widespread of just some people are having the issue. It's very obvious if you run a per channel test tone audio or video, the center will be super loud. I'm running an Ultra with 2 Era 300s and a Sub 3.
I have a full Sonos setup in my bedroom. Beam gen 2, mini sub and Era 100’s for rears. Do you recommend quick true play in my case? I have an iPhone 16 PM. The room isn’t too big itself. 🤷🏼♂️
Do you think they will bring this to older systems like beam gen 2? only problem I have now is that I cant change the bass to 180° it changed onn its own after I unplugged my system by accident
Were your graphs based on your preferred seating location? If so, based on your subjective opinion, how did the three options compare when you were in other seated positions? My layout is odd and has 3 places we sit regularly. Only one is set up optimally with all speakers symetrically oriented.
Every time I do the full True play Sonos it makes all my settings to 0 which means I am not getting any bass or treble out of speakers which I am not okay with.
I’m just frustrated that I can’t use my newer devices (ie iPad Air 6) to do Trueplay because they haven’t made them compatible to do so yet. Like my device was released in May 2024 and Trueplay capability still isn’t available for it at the end of 2024. Like wtf? I’m going to try to use my friends iPhone in the new year but it’s kind of sad that I have to do so.
I have Arc Ultra + Era100’s surround speakers. I am using an iPad. The only sound correction that I see is standard trueplay that tunes using the mics in the speakers. The option for “advanced trueplay” isn’t anywhere to be seen. So how do you employ the more advanced option?
I have the original Arc, sub gen 4, and era 300s. I was able to use my 2 year old iPad. I assume it was the full trueplay because it asked me to walk around for about a minute. I don't recall it asking me to turn it upside down though. I am planning to redo it again once the Christmas tree comes down which would change the acoustics of the room.
But isn’t it a must to perform True Play with a dual sub 4 set up when paired with Ultra and Era 300’s.. And also do you have Sonos flag ship store’s settings for ultra, sub gen 4 and era 300’s….
Is true play broken? My sub3 is barely active with true play on, highs are not as crisp, and it creates somewhat of a muffled all around sound. The sound is much better with true play off. My set up = Arc Ultra, Sub Gen3, 2x Era 300.
Just bought the arc ultra to replace my arc. Set it up and the rest of my system disappeared. I’ve tried to reset my 2 fives and 2 sub gen 3’s but they still can’t be found when I try and add them back. I’ve reset my router as well. Any advice? I’m so frustrated I’m about to sell the whole system.
Called customer service and they helped me get them set up. The arc ultra is a big upgrade to the arc! Much fuller more detailed sound and deeper more pronounced bass. It’s amazing.
Any decive should work flawlessly out of the box....true play should come in to picture only when you want to see if there are more opportunities for enhancing sound quality...should not rely on just trueplay to judge a device
With arc ultra sub 4 and 2 era 300 I leave trueplay off thats the best Sound you get at this time. Trueplay with the actually system makes the Sound flat. Thats what I get with trueplay with iphone 15 pro max
Still not impressed with Sonos arc ultra. Done everything with settings and truplay just can’t get it to sound how I want. Just find the dialogue muffled most of the times and the loud sounds to loud and not balanced enough. Thought this would be a big improvement of the original arc.
I just did the most recent update about an hour ago. I am happy to report, 9 sonos devices and a flawless update first go.

Agree, seems like an obvious thing they should do at this point now with all new phones using usb-c.
Not to mention the speakers on my phone have all kinds of crap in them from being in my pocket 10-12 hours a day
And also do you have or can you get Sonos flag ship store's settings for the arc ultra, sub gen 4 and era 300's....
Do I apply the recommended settings AFTER true play, or before, or don't run true play at all when using recommended settings??
Thanks for your latest video. You are the Sonos expert online. Merry Christmas and happy New Year!

Thanks Peter. Any idea when your full Arc Ultra and Sub 4 review is coming out? Eagerly awaiting it as you are the gold standard.
It is already out, isn’t it?
Thank’s Peter ❤ I am getting Sonos for Christmas 🎄
Thank you and Happy Holidays
Stupid question, can I use your settings with full True Play or it’s one or the other?
I think you are supposed to switch true play off, but given this review it looks like true play did very similar to the manual settings anyway, drop bass and increase treble.
I have never done true play on my ceiling speakers that are Sonance, it never crossed my mind to do that
Very interesting, thanks Peter
What about different iPhone microphones? How would an old as possible iPhone compare to a brand new?
You need to repeat these expirement serveral times in diffrent rooms to statistcally conclude. Right now it could include a lot of bias from the mic that will change the tune each time that you measure.
Nice video as always. 👍

should we reduce the bass a little still when doing the iOS Advanced TruePlay?
I think having an iPhone with a dusty mic will nerf TruePlay. When I use Trueplay with my 2 year old iPhone, my Sonos setup sounds very flat.

Sonos need to allow compatibility with the zen wireless microphone which would fit their style quite nicely.
Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄
Is true play on android exclusive to the arc ultra or is it now available for the regular arc?
Were your graphs based on your preferred seating location? If so, based on your subjective opinion, how did the three options compare when you were in other seated positions? My layout is odd and has 3 places we sit regularly. Only one is set up optimally with all speakers symetrically oriented.
Can you please make a video highlighting era 100/300 issues with the rear surround sound after the latest update. No one is talking about this?

Through an iphone
@@BiLLyg101 but not through an iPad?
I don’t believe so, especially if you don’t see the option it would be right under quick tune
@@BiLLyg101 which begs the question ‘why include it on one iOS device but not others’ . Thanks for your replies, much appreciated .

This is what works for me
True play on
Enhanced speech off
Treble on arc + 3
Base on arc 0
Base on sub + 2
Surrounds + 4
Heights +5

Had same issue call customer service , they’re great and there late
@@BiLLyg101 thank you. I really don’t want to sell it but am frustrated. Hopefully they can help me resolve this issue

Probably need to update the software connecting directly to Ethernet

Trueplay need to carry out periodically is better as sometime I feel movies vary for audio quality..
Quick Tuning with Android only works with Arc Ultra, Era 100 and Era 300
No prize for guessing how I now know this....
So sonos is bad with android
