    Nice recreation. One detail : they didn't use the KR-55's bass drum, but used the ARP2600 to produce a punchier sound.

      You are absolutely right but since I do not have an ARP2600 I went for the kick of the KR55. Thanks for watching!

      They actually used the ARP 2600 for only the kick, the rest of the drums was done by using the KR-55

    Daniel Miller has stated that there were only two synths used in the making of Speak & Spell: an ARP2600 and another one which is most likely a Jupiter 4. Together with an ARP1601 sequencer and the KR55 it would have been entirely possible to make the record without using any of the other synths you mentioned. I think if you really want to capture the essence of early DM you need to use an ARP as it's what made up 90% of their sound at that time.

      what i heard the lead melody was a Moog Prodigy

    • @ohoganroad
      @ohoganroad 5 днів тому

      @iSirTaki to be fair, you may be right. I heard it was a Jupiter 4 that made the lead sound, but considering how little information there is, particularly concerning their early albums it could have been any synth that made the sound. To me it sounds like several synth patches layered on top of each other to make the final sound you hear on the record.

    Why is the final recording on tape and on the computer in Mono mode? After all, Your instruments also have a stereo sound.
    Overall, great work and super sounding music!❤

    Love this video, and Depeche Mode where one of the first to put Essex on the map outside of the UK 😀
    Could you next please do a video for the hit-The Sun Always Shines on TV-A-ha please????
    The bass line for the song was performed using a Yamaha DX7. Other synthesizers include PPG Wave, Roland Juno-60 and sampled instruments. The oboe during the song was played on a sampler.

      The first time I listened to Depeche Mode I was blown away that it was all synths, it was the first all-electronic band I had heard, and then I discovered Kraftwerk, etc. I love that track by A-ha. Great suggestion, I will put it on my list.

      @@NostalgicExplorer Yea same here, but I knew of Depeche Mode + Kraftwerk at same time when I was a small kid in the 80's!
      Both great bands, whereabouts are you from???
      + have you been to the UK esp in Essex-Basildon where DM came from. + that is great when do you think the video might be up for-The Sun Always Shines on TV?? 😀📺☀
      I also forgot other synths used for that song are: Yamaha DX7 and a Synclavier PSMT + -Midi!
      BTW-I also did make a comment on your Kate Bush-Running Up That Hill video as well 👍🏻

      @@mikekaraoke I’m from Mexico, and Depeche Mode is huge there! I was lucky enough to see them live twice in Mexico and once in New York. I’ve also been to the UK, mostly London, where I picked up a bunch of records, including Depeche Mode, Cocteau Twins, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and many more. Next time, I’ll definitely visit Essex-Basildon!
      I’m hoping to work on that A-ha video this month to have it ready on February. Thanks so much for your comment on the Kate Bush video! 🙏🏼

      @@NostalgicExplorer Good old Mexico, not been there for years-last time was to Cancún way back in Feb of 2012.
      Last time I went to New York was way back in July of 2014.
      Nice one, I have seen Depeche Mode 14 times since a s mall kid in the 80's.
      You said mostly London you went to, so where were other parts you went to in UK apart from London???
      Yeah, def visit some parts of Essex when you come to UK next esp Basildon I know where Fletch/Vince Clarke childhood home was/is 😀
      That would be great about the A-ha video this month 🤘🏻
      And that classic music video with the Mannequins in that gothic church scared me as a 4 year old 😂
      I have been to where that video was filmed(went there last in Sept) at at Udney Hall Gardens and the Victorian Gothic Church of Saint Alban the Martyr, both situated in Teddington-have you been there???
      You're very welcome about the Kate Bush comment I made 🤘🏻

    Actually Vince’s next project was The Assembly with Eric Radcliffe. The Assembly only had one single, then Vince moved on to find Moyet and Yazoo.

    • @NostalgicExplorer
      @NostalgicExplorer  13 днів тому +1

      I think The Assembly is very in the line between Speak and Spell and Yazoo, but I see that the release date was 1983, a year after the Upstairs at Eric and You and Me Both releases. Thanks for sharing this info.

    • @PaulWilliamGibson
      @PaulWilliamGibson 12 днів тому +5

      Wrong, Vince went straight into Yazoo with Alison in early 1982 after leaving Depeche. Vince even offered ‘Only You’ to Depeche first but they turned it down. The Assembly with Eric was late 1983 after Yazoo had split. Vince then set up his label Reset Records and recorded with Paul Quinn before forming Erasure in 1985.
