Danke! from Germany. Your videos are a real treat! You remind me of the years I spent in Singapore from 1980 to 2006. I love the dedication to excellence by people there. You are a brilliant example. Indeed, your settings for the full Sonos equipment make a world of difference. Great!
Thank you Pete! I just purchases the ultra and era 300s and will get the sub 4 probably within the next week or so and I cant wait til I have them at my house and set up. I am coming from a LG S95tr which just wasnt satisfying me so returned them to get my first Sonos of anything. Cant be more excited and look to dial in your settings as well.
thanks for doing this Peter👍Just installed my arc ultra, wow what a difference to the Arc especially with your settings. Wonderful movies and music in Atmos. Thanks again 👍
Thank you Peter. New user to SONOS and your videos have been really useful in setting the hardware. Based on your recommendation, i went ahead to buy Arc ultra and sub mini and would appreciate if you drop a video on the best settings for the two
Started my Sonos journey with the Arc when it was first launched. Since then, your reviews on the Era 300 and Arc Ultra have sent me to the showroom to spend more money. Thank you Peter ha ha ha.
Pete, I’m finally moving away from wired speakers and chose the Sonos ARC Ultra, GEN4 sub and the ERA 300’s and you have taken all the guesswork out of it saving me LOTS of time…. THANK YOU!
Hi Peter! Your suggested settings are So perfect for us...I have no better world than saying....THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH! way better than out if the box = )
Hi! Great content again Peter! For excited folks here, remember bass/treble settings and channel (surround) levels are completely room and placement dependant. Some rooms speaker/sub placements require way more boosts or cuts. Every room has different optimal room curve.
THANK YOU BETE! Actually, I don’t have Sonos Arc Ultra, Sub Gen 4, and Era 300, but you helped me a lot especially by emails with my system Sonos Arc, Sub Gen 3, and surround One SL. What I have is enough and a great system for long time. My wife told me one day why I bought Sonos and there a lot of home theater such as Samsung, Sony, LG, and Bose, I told her because of Peter Pee while we don’t have here Sonos Center. I ordered it from United States when my nephew was studying there and he sent it to me here in Middle East. Just I am afraid about new update that it is probably I need to change the settings and with the new update I still keep the same settings that you recommended it. You are doing a great job and always keep up the good job. Sonos has to hire you, because no one works in Sonos will do the job you are doing now and help a lot of Sonos lovers. THANK YOU BETE!
"Thank you Pete!" Your videos are always the best! Have a few quick questions: - Given Sub3 has slightly less bass than the Sub4 (thanks for your video on that) would you still recommend -1 for it? - My new theater room is ~11x11x8 acoustically sound, but yet conducive to Sonos sound-bounce. I have the Arc Ultra, 2xEra300, and Sub Gen3. Trueplay at least for me does sound fuller, but is it changing the signature (i.e. less flat)? Thanks so much, Dan
I think -1 is still a good starting point for the Sub3. If you find it lacking punch, then move it up to a zero but in my Sub Gen 3, I kept the same settings. Because my room is smallish. Trueplay should give a fuller sound with a smoother response overall because that exactly what it aims to do. Reduce dips and peaks in the response curve. It can sometimes get it wrong though.
@@PeterPee Well I think in my case with a room conducive to a system like this Trueplay got it right because it definitely sounds fuller, more balanced, and less front heavy, a marked difference. I think I will keep your Treble, Bass, Sub, and Heights settings, but maybe experiment with the surrounds when Trueplay is on.
I think it's worth pointing out that the soundbar settings and frequency response you mentioned are specific to your room's acoustics. Every room has a unique frequency response due to differences in size, shape, and furnishings, so the chances of your settings being optimal for someone else's room are quite low. Additionally, sound is very subjective and depends on personal taste, so while your preferences might work for you, they might not suit others. Thanks for sharing your experience.
@peter pee how can you not notice that since the latest firmware update the era 300s are broken??? The inward tweeter, the one dedicated to the rear channel, is completely silent during atmos and 7.1 content (even test files and trueplay lol) Let’s get this to media attention please
Amazing! What a difference these changes make! I was listening to Hauser. I have Arc Ultra + sub 4 + Era 300 surround. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and making it simple for the rest of us.
Pete, thanks so much for sharing your expertise. Set up Arc Ultra, Gen 3 and Gen 4 subs, in ceiling Sonance surrounds. 13 ft ceilings , large room. Any suggestions other than running Trueplay?
Thank you, Peter! Nice to see frequency response on the Ultra, helps a lot. These settings are a bit excessive for me, but its a nice start. Now we need to understand what happens with Trueplay on Ultra standalone, because in my experience it just doesn't sound right. I must also add that Ultra on its own is impressive. It sounds amazing just out if the box. A bit boomy and heavy on bass as Sonos products were never bass shy, but Loudness off helps a lot.
Thanks again! The settings are making me feel like we’re just correcting for software bugs - don’t get me wrong, they sound pretty good but there is something not quite right with the sub setting on both the arc and the subs. I think this video will need to updated regularly as they release bug fixes.
Thank you for your time in testing these new products, very much appreciated. I've recently gone from Arc + Era 300 + Sub mini to Arc Ultra + Era 300 + 2x Sub Gen 4. Will give your settings a go. My living room is quite huge with 18ft high ceilings (used to be a chapel). I'll put the height channels on max but the room gives great acoustics when watching a movie. I got 2x Gen 4 so the bass can better fill the room. Keep up the good work.
At end of the day it does come down to what sounds best for you.....the only other thing I could mention is the whole debate on different hdmi cables make a difference in sound quality...I lean on the side that different cables make a difference....the sonos stock hdmi cable is fine.....but when I switched in a audioquest carbon hdmi cable I bought used on ebay for fraction of retail price, I immediately noticed a difference clarity is improved in vocals and bass is improved dramatically with new layer of articulate depth
@PeterPee It would be nice to see what Trueplay's frequency response looks like for your room to see if it is still bumping up the bass and trimming down the treble. I would also expect True play to phase shift so that all frequencies hit the main listening position at the same time.
Hey Peter.. I really enjoy your recommanded eq settings for the standalone Arc Ultra. I’m wondering if you would have some recommanded settings for the Eras 100 as a stereo pair for music content. Thanks 🙏
Thank you Pete! I'm always hesitant to turn trueplay off, but this has actually taken out some of the bass boom in my room. Sounds lovely and tight now!
My recommendation will be to bring the sub setting down another notch to about -3. I tried 2 subs and in my default position and my smallish room size, it was too much for me. If your room is big, then maybe -2 is ok.
@@PeterPee Dear Peter! How big is your room? I use the Arc + 2 x sub gen 3 + 2 x era 300 system in a 17 sqm (5.5 m x 3.2 m) room. I am replacing the Arc with an ultra. Do you think it is enough to keep just one sub? They are new, not even half a year old.
Thank You Pete - looking forward to trying out these out on my new set up. Especially the music surround to +15 as I doubt I’d ever been bold or experimental enough to try that and looking forward to getting more out of the 300s.
Peter, I would really like to know if you have actually compared a non-Trueplayed flattened response curve (i.e. your best settings) to a Trueplayed flattened response curve (i.e. another set of best settings) to see if you can hear a difference. Thank you Peter. What do you think are the best settings for the Arc Ultra with 2 Era 300 and the sub mini? Is your recommendation the same as with the sub 4? Thank you!
Thank you Pete! I have the Arc Ultra with the mini sub and have my settings set to Treble +1, Bass +4, Sub -4. We didn’t was to disturb neighbors with the sub freq being too loud otherwise I would set the sub closer to 0 and lower the bass closer to 0. In my room I did not notice the arc ultra on its own having a lot of bass without going to +6 or more.
@@PeterPeegreat stuff Peter! I prefer your settings to what I had. I’m hearing more detail in general and even the surround audio is more noticeable. Maybe the extra bass was affecting what I could hear.
You said the Arc Ultra has to much bass. Would you recommend pairing with the Sub Mini for a better, out of the box settlings? Specialty for a smaller room?
Thank you Pete from Germany! Enjoy your Xmas vacation and all the best for 2025. You just cost me 1.800€ because only after I bought the ultra, I found out that I have to find an alternative utilization for my Play:1 now🤷🏼♂️. Say „Hi!“ to my Era 300🤦🏼♂️.
Advanced trueplay is broken and degrades speaker performance, quick one works reasonably well. Not that it matters tho since ERA 300 surrounds are currently not working as they are supposed to

I have the ultra, 2, 300s and 2 sub 4s. I think that happens to me aswell cause my erra 300s are so quiet as surrounds. I have it to my tv LG G1 via e arc and I play music through spotify on my xbox series x and have it set to dolby atmos, the surround tv and music settings don't do anything. When I play spotify through the sonos app it's not in dolby atmos but they are way louder. Anyone else have anything like this happening?
Am I correct in thinking that you definitely don’t want to set your Surround (Music) to +15 if you enable Spatial Audio. You’ll just get super loud rear audio for Dolby Atmos tracks. Right?
Peter can you run a test on the era 300s when paired with the ultra? Many of us have had issues with the inside surround driver not working and that audio being played out of the height channel. This seems to be a growing issue online, on the facebook groups, Reddit and the Sonos community on the app. Just to be clear. This appears when the ultra is paired with 300s as surrounds. Last night, I was watching my 4K of the movie prey! I own the Sonos art with a Sonos gem three and a pair of Sonos five and let me tell your folks it was loud and it was booming, and my walls were rattling! I’m very happy with my Sonos are I don’t feel that I need to upgrade at this time!👍
One question still unanswered for me - coming from Arc + Era 300 + dual sub, would moving to Ultra + Era 300 + single sub be an upgrade? Mainly for Atmos movies with height effects and video games. Thank you

I have the same setup as you but I have both a sub3 and a sub4 in my room which is about 13 x 16. Should I remove the sub3 and if not should I change any of my bass setting.? Thanks I always appreciate your help!
Great video as always Peter! I took your advice and paired a sub mini to the arc ultra with the black friday deal. Ive now since added era 100s that I already had as surrounds. Just curious what you think the sub levels and surround levels should be on this set up? Much appreciated!!
Peter. I just setup my Sonos system. Ultra. 2 era 300s. 1 sub 4. I haven't played around with it alot yet. But can music videos from UA-cam take advantage of rear speakers. I don't hear any sound coming from them. Should I turn off spacial sound and increase surrounds to 15?
My question is do i need to run trueplay first in my space then add these settings? Or its not necessary and trueplay is something entirely on its own and it has its own settings?I have arc ultra, sub 3 and a pair of 300's? Please anyone let me know. Thank you Peter always for your knowledge 🙏🏻

Because Trueplay is customised to your room. It won't be consistent for the trueplay in my room vs your room. Thanks for your contribution!

I use REW (Room Equalisation Wizard) and a Umk-1 from mini-DSP, all running off a PC with a Nvidia 4070 card.
Hi Peter! Do you still advise to use these settings nowadays with the updates that came out? I find Quick Tune and No Trueplay similar
Thank you Peter. So, for the best sound possible, you would advise keeping Trueplay OFF ?

Great video as always Peter! I took your advice and paired a sub mini to the arc ultra with the black friday deal. Ive now since added era 100s that I already had as surrounds. Just curious what you think the sub levels and surround levels should be on this set up? Much appreciated!!
do you still do a recommended settings with TruePlay enabled? or have you stopped doing those
Think need to adjust with what suits your room Pete setttings for me were not great I increased base and sub settings
Any recommendations for beam sub mini and era 100s?
Thanks for your time and effort in another great video Pete!
What about Ultra + Sub 4 only?
Came here for this as well.
For setup without the Era 300, just use the same settings but ignore the surround settings.
Thank You P🎉 for putting in the effort and dedication!
@@PeterPeewill try these tonight
Hi Peter, how about for a Sonos Arc Ultra, Sonos Era 100s, and a Sub Mini?
Thank you for this, Pete!
Is true play to be turned on or off with these recommendations?
Hi Peter, is this with true play or without?
