I think Scaler distances itself even more from its possible competitors. It is always very easy to start with a chord progression, and Scaler has always helped me a lot, but now, with sugested chords (and FILL, which you have not tried yet, and you are going to love it, hehe) it is practically inevitable to start with Scaler. Scaler2 is the best plugin I've ever used.
For some reason UA-cam told me that I'd watched this already, but I don't remember any of it now that I've watched it (again?)... I'd kinda given up on Scaler 2, but seeing this it's time to dig in once again as the guitar voicings are very lovely. I'm glad that you did this... it made me reevaluate Scaler 2 once more.

This really is a huge deal. Now even those of us who play guitar can make songs on guitar while away and not have to transfer chords from piano.
Not exactly. It's a good idea generator, but you're still going to find the mechanics of how the chord voicing choices the software makes will alter once you actually play it yourself. The fret combinations won't exactly be "true to life" until you actually try playing them yourself and you'll often realize that the software chose some patterns you'd never do or that are too difficult to play fluidly. But it's a great way to get your ideas on "paper" -- so to speak -- and then polish them up later.

Yes I did hear that. I feel the success of scaler 1-2 will bring greater possibilities for scaler 3. I truly feel scaler has a super platform to move forward

Hey friend, I really enjoyed your demo video here. I came here for the Scaler info, I am thinking of taking the plunge today, and your video pretty well made up my mind to go for it. I think I am going to dig deeper into your channel too, I enjoyed your persona, your presentation, your way of getting the info across. I am curious, which Ample Guitar set do you have. I went over to their site, a lot of versions.

Interesting that you select "guitar voicing" but where it plays a D major chord on the fretboard isn't the normal/usual D major position. Possibly and update to make it more accurate to actual chord finger positioning is necessary. Or maybe Scaler needed to be transposed down an octave to get the correct finger positioning?
The guitar voicing in Scaler is for Scaler. Ample Sound uses a different method of choosing voicings. They don't exactly know how to talk to each other... mostly because Ample Sound's guitars have an algorithm that chooses the voicing for you based on the chord it hears and where the fret range is on the neck. It will often play voicings you don't agree with because it is just a computer. You have to do this stuff the slow way... manually... to get it right. This is more of an idea generator than a performer substitute.

Here I am back again using this video as a reference and even though the visible settings are the same, the guitar is sounding down on the fretboard instead of as it is in your video. You said something at the beginning that you'd set it up (I'm assuming a bit deeper in), but THAT is what I wish you would have covered either in this, or another video. I'm following along so that I can do the same (as a tutorial), but your tutorial is incomplete. How did you set Scaler 2 up so that the guitar would sound where it is. I'm using Native Instruments Picked Acoustic in Melody mode, it should not pose any real problems having a different instrument, but one never knows. Where it's sounding on the fretboard sounds thuddy and clunky, however, where yours is voiced up the neck it sounds beautiful. THAT'S what I want to attain!!! Please help. If I can get this to work it will help me get reenergized about Scaler 2 once again. Thanks for your assistance.
Okay... after playing with this a bit, I've found that using Native Instruments Picked Acoustic is part of the problem. Going into Scaler 2 as a standalone, and using the Steel Acoustic instrument with included, it's playing up in the register of the 12th fret as your demo is doing. OMG!!! I need to get another sample library! Oy! The beauty of what you're doing is something that I really want to replicate, so it appears that I'll be going there now as well... YIKES!!
Great video man. Do you have any idea how I would get it to play open chords? Rather than a d major after the 12th fret. I've tried messing about with what octave my keyboard is set to but no joy. Just says the same. Thanks.
Mojo try using the voice grouping drop down top right. it will voice the chords up or down

The only problem I have with the way these apps usually work together is that they are based on keyboard chords and when you send keyboard chords to guitar VSTs like the Ample Sound one you're using, the instrument chooses how to voice it. I prefer to send my own fret combinations for a more realistic guitar-based chord progression. It's a great way to start hearing ideas, but it's far from polished... you'll wanna do quite a bit of editing to the chord voicings. I actually use MIDI input mode on Ample Sound guitars and send each chord voice individually to the appropriate fret/string. It's a lot of extra work, but that's how you get these things to sound more believable. Each string is its own MIDI channel that way, so it's easy to set up by having six separate tracks (one for each string) or if you can keep things straight (the way I do it), you can have them all on one track, but just make sure each chord voice is targeting the appropriate string via the note's channel.

This is just what I was looking for! If anyone can answer this: I just bought Scaler 2.5 for Mac. I have Kontakt's "'Picked Nylon Guitar" library to do what you are doing here in the video. I use Logic Pro X and I am able to hear the notes through my Nylon guitar plugin when I play my 88 keyboard but when I try to use any of the Scaler features (like clicking on chords or whatever) they do not play any sound through my plugin. There must be a setting that I am missing since I see it working perfectly for you in this video. Any thoughts on this, guys? I am eager to get into this!
P J, My keyboard is the input to the scaler track, the scaler track is the input to the guitar track. But I think this works differently in logic

Thanks you for your video! I'm a scaler user and I'm looking for a plugin that generates melodies. What woul You recommend? I heard of Melody Sauce. But the genres listed for Melody Sauce are not "my style". I'm more into rock, pop, folk... I like these melodies. Is Melody Sauce for me or should I try something else (Melodya..)?

Are the suggestions the same every time per key/scale or do they change when selecting the same scale/chord on subsequent tries?
they are chord based suggestions. Pick a couple chords then It will calculate the scale.
I play piano and im super confused on how to use the fretboard to input custom notes. If I input on the piano roll and select guitar voicings will it give me the same result as the fretboard?
Choosing guitar voicing like any of the other voicing choices just spreads the chord in a way that emulates whatever you've asked it to do. If you play a chord manually, you'll get that chord voicing. If you let Scaler decide, it will choose a voicing that is appropriate for the choice you've made... so if you choose guitar voicing, the chords it plays back for you will be in a voicing consistent with the six strings playing no more than one fret at a time. You can't play two notes on one string simultaneously... and Scaler will make sure to follow that rule.
hi, at 2:07 when you take Dmaj chord in Scaler-2, Ample guitar is playing it high down the fret-board. Usually it is played on upper part of the guitar. I tried on my PC and it plays each chord down the fret-board by default. is there any way without changing the octave in Scaler-2.
This is the problem with pairing plugins that don't know each other. Ample Sound likes to "guess" the best way to play chords that are fed into it. If you want realism, create your chords... so you have your concept... and then manually edit the MIDI to get them where you want them to be. I actually use MIDI mode on Ample Sound guitars so I can input each chord voice to the string I want via 6 channels (one for each string). It's a lot more work... but I get the precision I want that way.

hi, the imput for your ample guitar track should be scaler. thats how it works for cubase other daws may be different

Nevermind, you have to change the drop-down menu to 2.5 (defaults to 2.1 for some reason).

I hate it when non guitar players play a keyboard with guitar sounds like they play a piano. Try playing octaves on a guitar along with a triad and a overtone….😡😡😡
