#10: Do not use with glasses. I used the Meta 3 with my glasses and scratched them, and there is no way to repair them. Use the special lenses that are purchased separately.
I initially bought the Elite strap for Q2 thinking I might be getting something a little bit better over the amazon models that were only about 15 dollars cheaper on average. When the first one broke, I had reason to believe my wife set something on it, though it really didn't look like it would have been enough weight to do it- but I chalked it up an accident. I was out of town, so I bought another elite strap (as it was my only option), and within a very little use, it also broke. This time, it was in a hardshell case and side piece was broke in pretty much the exact same spot. I ducted taped it this time, and it's remained like that since. Needless to say, I won't be buying any more Quest accessories, and it makes it even a bigger joke that they're trying to charge even more for their accessories with the Q3.
Got a $30 kiwi strap and just velcro'd a cheap 10,000mah battery to it. So all in all barely spent a third of the cash on a superior product to their garbage strap.
@@jerrodshack7610 Yeah, if end up upgrading the strap for my Q3, I will be getting a Kiwi or a Bobo. I mostly play seated games, so I haven't found the Q3 crap strap out of the box to be a huge problem so far. But the battery life on this thing is ass, so that may factor in my decision to upgrade.
I work within battery technology and you're "half right" in regards to Lithium Batteries, (Li-On, Li-Po, NimH) batteries once fully charged will not continue to charge and would not continually diminish the batteries capacity. It is only the depletion of a battery over many cycles that would cause this. The Quest 1, 2 and 3 all had "Smart Charge" which prevent over charging or constant yo-yo charging from AC-in/DC-out currents. The single most important thing is to ensure is the charging block is correct. The amps are far more important here than the wattage and it's typically over-ampage that would damage your unit, whereas over-wattage will just cripple your battery. As you rightfully said, use stock cables/charge block unless you know what you're doing. (Qualified Electrical Engineer and BS EN IEC 62485-5:2021 / BS5266-1:2016 accredited which covers alot of Battery based information under Emergency Lighting Standards).
Hey! I have a problem. I bought the meta quest 3 second hand and the guy didnt give me those stock chargers. After some research it seems 18 watts is the stock one. Can i use any 18 watts or is there difference? also what should i look for when buying the cable, there seems to be differences aswell. After waiting a week for it to arrive just so i have to worry about a charger kinda bummer.
for the 3rd point about the battery. the bms should take care of all that, this shouldn't be a worry. also the bms should balance the cells. meta really has to aswer to this problem
@@noahkobeski4444 Battery management system. A lithium battery for larger devices typically has multiple cells per battery. This means there needs to be a controller to manage these individual cells to ensure one of them is not going completely flat (you can cause issues with "battery memory" if you drain it flat). Thats a very simplified way of explaining it.
as for multi cell batteries... one would need to be running a fairly cheap setup to be charging cells in series and hoping they'll stay balanced. Most things use a battery management charger with hooks into each midpoint between cells to balance them and ensure they all get to the right level.
the cheaper balancer (BMS) has a limited current capacity, if the difference between the cells is more than that, then it can report fully charged state, even if some cells are not charged, but that is always a bug. What should happen is slow charging, limited by the BMS current capacity, until every cell is full. For battery health and to charge all simultaneously usually the last 10%-20% always uses slow charging with less current than what the BMS can do. Alternatively, they can install proper BMS which has the same balancing capacity as charging capacity, instead of cheapening out (this is the recommended design after all!).
This is wild that the Quest 3 has the SAME melted USB-C port problem that the Quest 2 had! I've taken the advice to only charge until the light turns green seriously, i even charge it near my desk just so i can keep an eye on the light to be able to unplug it as soon as the light turns green.
The elite strap doesn’t charge the headset. In fact, the elite strap is the only proper battery strap made. Since it works with the headset firmware. You can see 2 batteries in the hud. It will use the strap battery first, then it will use the headset battery when it’s out. In fact. Battery straps should never charge the headset while playing. I think eventually, 3rd party battery straps will use a similar tech that the elite strap uses. Also I use a 120w PD charger that defaults to 18w and never gets hot. And if you use a thunderbolt 4 port while pcvr it will charge and play at the same time no issues.
Thanks for making content man, you persuaded me to get a quest 3! Also, i have a game u should check out, its called Dungeons of Eternity also its quest exclusive, its a really awesome game.
Sorry about the Subaru, that really sucks man, also im sorry if i sound a lil like i dont care when i say this but just try dungeons of eternity, it is life changing with one of the few games that did vr fullbody co-op correctly. Again, the thing with the subaru, that sucks man, wishing for the best for u!
About the battery thing, is quiet weird. Because the EXTRA BATTERY head straps are basically portable chargers to charge the Quest WHILE PLAYING. Is the same as playing with the charger on a wall port with the cable. I bought a Quest 3 and I am always using the extra battery instead of the Quest it self. Same as using an iPhone always plugged on my portable charger, or my Insta360 always plugged while shooting timelapses, or my LAPTOP always charging, or my DJI drone always on charging while I am wireless transferring data. Maybe those melting ports ARE FROM SHITTY third party products, but I will keep playing and leaving my Quest ALWAYS plugged while playing or not playing. I will be back if it melts.
0:17 okay that's some misinfo there. I only use my Quest 2 cable and brick because I'm paranoid, but using a higher wattage charging brick will not damage a device like that. It only takes the current it needs. Improper voltage matching can cause it, but that's unlikely. It's proper debris or damage to the port.
The sensors, just like the cameras on the Quest 3 are generally safe to exposure to sun light. But i would still recommend keeping it away from any Windows.
That melting port issue is most likely caused by rough handling of the cable into the port making the contacts loose. This reduces the cross section of the connector meaning current will try to flow through less material causing heat to build up in the connector due to higher resistance. Similar thing happened with the 4090 GPU's, because the connectors on those were being pulled to one side due to the way the cables went into the cards. Make sure your usb connector is nice and firm in the socket, if not, it needs to be replaced.
I once burned my quest 2 by accident and they were nice enough to replace it even though sun damage wasn't covered under warranty. This prompted me to get the three and I am sure the service is still good. If you are having trouble just talk to meta support they are surprisingly forgiving for any kind of damage.
@HotPocketEnjoyer it great but 500 bucks is alot when the quest promised better graphics and mixed reality. But with mixed reality not showing it true potential anytime soon and quest 3 exclusives games won't happen for a long time due to quest 2 sales. Now don't mind me im gonna go play guardian wars on the 3do
you can also use tissues or if you don't have any for some reason, toilet paper. Its soft so it won't scratch it but if you want to reuse the cloth then yes use a micro fiber.
I'm a new VR user. This information is very useful. Thank you. I bought another brand headstrap with jointed sides and now I am glad I did! I used the stock charger until I got the head-strap (It has two switchout batteries so you can charge both the battery and the headset at the same time) but now I guess I should switch back to using the stock one?
The only “extra” thing I bought for my Quest 3 were controller grips. The weird Nintendo Wii safety strap is just garbage, but the one I got both protects the controllers and allows me to let go of the controllers and not have them leave my fingers. I do want to point out that they were third party grips bought from BestBuy
Just a side note, it does seem like Meta deosn't update the prices for conversion (not that I'm defending them or something), but generally speaking US prices don't include taxes as those are different in each state, while the EU prices include VAT, which ranges from 16% (nice Luxembourg) and goes up to 27% (holy schnikes Hungary), with 20% in the UK, not to mention possible import taxes.
Yeah, charging and discharging kills battery longevity, but leaving it plugged in doesn't discharge and charge it. It's a modern device built with this phenomenon on mind. Leaving it plugged in is best for battery longevity.
@@YOUNGJBR you shouldn't do it because it will shorten the life of your battery not kill the battery itself. in other words your battery will still work but instead of lasting two hours it now only works for one. if you leave it plugged in the numbers will vary but basically it will constantly charge to full stop and when it hits 95 maybe it will kick back on it will always read 100 but it will fluctuate with out telling you
Along with #3 don’t leave it plugged in when your out AS WELL AS not when your asleep, when your asleep even though your in the room your not paying attention to your headset, it can drain the battery and cause issues you unaware of at the time until you wake up (of course not everyone stores their quest in the same room that they sleep in but the general consensus is that a lot of people do)
meta says on their website that you can use 45w max to charge, that being said i use an "anker 45w charging brick with about a 20 ft cable and it still doesnt keep my headset charged while playing, i get about 4 hours max maybe.. on the quest 2 i was able to use the charging brick it came with and a cheap amazon 20ft cable and i could play as long as i wanted at a steady 95 percent. this headset really sucks in terms of not only battery life but it seems to be charging rate as well.
so i read on reddit people are able to use an anker 35w charging brick and a generic cable and it works perfectly fine. i also remembered that my cord was having linking problems with my pc out of nowhere a few months ago, so im gonna get a new and better link cable and see if that helps at all, after that im gonna get an anker 35w charging brick if the cable doesnt help.
As you said it's about the CYCLES and ideally you just never use the battery but even leave it plugged in while using it, same goes for phones and laptops. Now if you can leave it at 50-80% rather than 100%, that's even better, but what really wears out the battery's chemistry is the cycle count and exposure to heat. The device is supposed to stop charging when the battery is full, no point in unplugging it, if it melts because of that, which I highly doubt, it's a MASSIVE manufacturing and/or design defect and safety hazard that would most likely have caused a class action law suits and mass withdrawels by now.
I foolishly bought the elite strap when I bought my Quest 3 a week ago. It's ok and functional. I do find it comfortable but definitely could be better for the money. I did buy a third-party link cable and external battery (the PrismXR Carina W1 belt is AWESOME! - can't recommend it enough) so I dodged those bullets anyway. All in all, I'm not disappointed with the Elite Strap, but I do wish I had looked around a bit more. I have a thin face and will probably get something with front/forehead support as the headset tends to slide down my face, losing the sweet spot unless I really crank down the tightness, which does make it less than comfortable unless I have it absolutely perfect. Anyway, that's my story - not sure why I felt compelled to tell it though! 🤣
Came in because I recently got a Meta 3. Didn't expect WRX talk. Not complaining at any rate as I own one myself. It's pretty much been non-stop issues one right after the other. Could have bought two headsets and have money left over in what it took to make it stop misfiring. Just the other day had to do a new windshield thanks to the cold weather and still have a bad front cat. Bought this thing off a car lot used giving 10.9k USD for. They are fun to drive but it's earned it's name of poor life choices.
The battery in the quest is a single cell at 4.45V. The reason you don't want to keep on charge has nothing to do with cell balancing. it has to do with the dendrites that grow between the cathode and anode of a battery cell, within the lithium gel, taking up space(lowering capacity), also risking shorting. 1s(1cell) battery systems do not require balancing.
doesn't matter if you leave it plugged in after it's fully charged. The headset doesn't draw anything from the charger once the led turns green to indicate it's full.
As a long time glasses wear and brand new headset owner I treat this thing with the utmost care. Yea I wipe my glasses with my shirt, but my glasses didn’t cost $500.. I bought a case for it and when I’m not playing or charging it.. instantly in the case. Bought a 3rd party strap with a battery so I don’t have to worry about charging the actual headset as much. Funny how they had this super comfy one (without a battery) for just $17… Like it’s a delicate piece of tech with lenses and screens. Yes im gonna treat it as such
The battery pack does actually charge your headset, but when its connected and on it displays the battery pack's charge, it just doesn't have a charge indicator.
i leave all 5 of my headsets plugged in and i use only anker chargers even the higher watt chargers, i have done this for years and have never had a single issue. i also use strap ties so that the port doesn't move around in the port causing arcs and also using a higher quality anker charger i use a 100watt pd/pps charger that has a better quality power management chip which will never give your headset more power than it can ever use. always always use velcro style cable straps at least two so that the port wont wiggle or move casuing any issues or breaking your port. i permanently leave my headsets plugged in to the cable but not the charger and i have never had issues with my ports and i own 3 quest 2's and 2 quest 3's.
Guys! I need help with my quest 2 left controller, It is flashing SOS In Morse code, which Is strange as I never damaged the controller or anything, just casually playing. I replaced and repaired the controller but It wouldn't work (Factory reset too, But because of the F.R I'm now stuck there) The only thing I noticed it doesn't show the firmware version on the oculus phone app, the other controller does show it. I hope someone can response to the comment and help me out here.
The meta link cable is 138USD where in form , and its only a gen 3.1 type C, i just got a gen 3.2 also with the 90degree in one end for for 22USD, so look in to doing that if you are a new buyer.
the heat charging issue is strange since ive had my quest 2 charging 24/7 for more than a year straight and it has not burned at all. Battery might be damaged though i have it connected it feels like around 3h play time
My alltime favorite "elite strap with battery" are the ones sold on unboundxr. The one for the quest three for instance has a wide strap on top of your head with a slightly wider pad in the middle, to use for headphones/headsets. imo it does a way better job than the actual elite strap by meta, because neither the one of my quest two nor quest three have broken thusfar, whereas the ones from Meta did. 😅
Okay, this is a great video and you should follow these tips, they will greatly increase the life time/playability of the quest 3. Other things I would recommend would be to not drop this, it's likely it will damage it. Also with hand straps, they are great and I would recommend you get one, they are awesome and add to the immersion when you get used to them, but I would stay away from anything that encases it, this causes sweat to build up and stay making the controllers dirty, and with me made the trigger stick
Charging my quest two still scares me. I have trained my daughter to make sure it's on a hard surface and not to charge while we aren't home. I am legitimately no worried it will burst into flames one day.
i bought the quest 3 and i fear that the headset will burn down my house if i let it charge while i am not home, its my only problem with it right now lol
about port melting: nobody knows for sure why it happens, because meta isn't telling us, but it's almost certainly not because of high power chargers. i can plug a 200W laptop charger into my wireless mouse, and it will be fine. i can plug a C to C cable into wall plugs on both ends, plug both of them into the wall, and nothing will happen. usb is an incredibly stable and safe standard, just make sure to buy cables and chargers from trusted brands/sellers. so, why do the quest ports melt? can't be the power that's causing it, so it must be a defect. could be bad quality control, but it's more likely that you unknowingly damaged the port yourself. how? well, ever play with a link cable, or simply play while plugged into the wall? that's fine, obviously, but: - MAKE SURE that you SECURE THE CABLE correctly. tie it to the side of your headstrap with a velcro or something, then plug it in. - make sure the cable has a 90° angle at the headset port, and have it point towards your back (and thus towards the headstrap you're tying it to). - be CAREFUL when moving your head around while plugged in. if you have a ceiling mounted cable, DO NOT twist around too much. if you don't have a ceiling mounted cable, DO NOT twist around more than 180° in either direction AT ALL. - if you lie down while plugged in, make sure the cable does not get bent or pulled too much. do not lie on the cable/port itself. etc. any of these things will put strain on the cable, and especially if it's not secured to the headstrap, this strain will directly pull on the port. if you do any of these things too much, your port may get damaged, which may cause it to melt. THIS is (probably) why you see so many quests have their ports melt, something that almost never happens to any non-vr device.
I have a third party headstrap with a battery, can't remember the name of it, but it's black and has stupidly bright LEDs on it. Only cost like £50 or so, lasts a few hours which is fine, lasts about as long as I expected. It has some padding and is fairly comfortable. Also grabbed some controller covers that strap around your hand, a headset cover and a better face cover, colour scheme for the headset is black, with the face cover being red, looks great.
What about keeping it full charge because i have the bobovr with batteries ? Ore just click the magnetic battery on reaching 20 procent battery and take it off and full charge and repeat ?
The elite 2 battery strap was so dirt cheap on outlet(25€) i decided to get it and 3d print an adapter for my quest 3.. pretty satisfied with it. But would never pay full price.
3. use a smart power bank and charge through them i got 2 anker 20,000 mah power banks and just always charge the quest through the power bank this also prevents wear and tear on the usb charging port on the quest
the battery in the strap works just not how you would think it gives you a longer battery life ex: when you run out of storage on a computer you just buy external storage and boom you have storage the battery pack has the same idea it doesnt charge it, it gives it a second battery and has a battery level its self.
I don’t know if this is a problem for just me, but I don’t have enough money for a head-strap, and the basic head-strap with no add-ons is way worse than the meta quest 2. It’s either too tight, and puts pressure on my forehead giving me headaches, or it’s too loose and falls down on my face.
I experienced Half Life Alyx for the first time on my Quest 3. Amazing! Also you guys should check out bootstrap island. A VR survival game on an island
As a person with the quest 1,2, and 3 the 3 is way better then the 2 and is worth the money but I love getups videos but he’s saying the quest three is bad for content, and it’s not metas fault that you break your stuff
I am a old person and as such I have learned to wait, the first hardware is v1.0 and those always have some trouble, so wait 4 to 6 month until the v 1.1 is out that get the fixes, but I not seen Meta or any store write what hardware revision they are selling.
This headset is the reason why I'm sticking with Pico. and just to add if I'm correct isn't the meta quest 3 not fully using its processor so once it is doesn't that mean it's battery life is going to be even worse
I respect your opinion for the elite strap but i have it and the quest 3 regular strap is comfortable but after a little while it hurts your head. But the elite strap is way more comfortable in my opinion
Use Polywatch plastic polish paste if you get your lenses scratched. Takes off very little material, but can't use it infinite times! ONLY USE WHEN THE SCRATCHES ARE REALLY BAD! ONLY HAND POLISH, DO NOT USE DEVICES LIKE A DREMEL! POLISH WITH POLISHING MICROFIBRE FABRIC! (Get the paste that comes with cloth) (They aren't made of glass so don't use the glass one)
you can repair your controller arm easily urself, go to a junk yard and get it... if you need cv boots, get new ones.. and da grease.. 1.7-4 hrs ur done.. i did it in an apartment parking space.
for me its the opposite so i got the elite meta head strap for my quest 2 and for some reason for both of the batteries there like 30% off from the real amount so it would say its like 50% charged on the main battery and its 70 to 80% charged.
my face gasket mechanism on the left side was broken out of the box but i SOMEHOW managed to fix it by trying to push on the inside and outside around the button incase something clipped in while i was going that and also jiggled it around and pushed in the button over and over again and eventually something clicked in and it worked just fine.. bit funky but at least it aint broken.
Using a higher wattage charger should not cause any issues unless the device ie Quest 3 in this case has poorly designed circuitry. The Quest 3 is obviously not limiting its charging current as it should do. You can not force more current into a device than it can handle if it has been designed correctly and is using correctly specified components. Or maybe the connectors they are using are cheap shit with poor fit or higher than usual resistance thereby generating heat with the current flow, must be severe to melt plastic. Once charged ie green light the headset should not be drawing current so should not heat up the connector, if it is, that is another bad design. As an aside i think the Quest will be using a single cell lithium battery hence charging at 5V, so no balance issues and they do not get memory unlike the old Nicads.
IMPORTANT: I had a issue with paring my email to my new Meta Quest 3. I call the #'s in the settings to talk to rep. The rep's r crooks. I was guaranteed a refund & they end up taking $500 out of my account. All I wanted is to have a full sight. The sides were showing, so I didn't get a refund Keven Green got my refund.
I bought an elite headstrap with a battery for around $50 usd on amazon (transnovo is the seller name) and it absolutely changed how I play on the quest 3. Before I got the new headstrap, due to my rampant sinus issues, my entire head would hurt within 20 minutes and it was so bad I just didn't and couldn't feel like I was immersed or having fun. Now I can play for about 2 hours pain free. However, I have pretty bad vision and wearing glasses in the headset is also painful, so prescription lenses are also a wonderful idea because not only do they help you see the amazing clarity the Q3 has to offer, they are easier to replace if you scratch them, and they protect the original lenses.
Charger issue isn't wattage per say.. its an issue of cheap chargers that follow the PD spec poorly.. respond improperly to the negotiation and feed wrong power. the official charger and other quality brand chargers also using PD (Samsung, Google Pixel, Anker, etc) will also be reliable. Its that cheap Chinese alphabet soup name you gotta watch out for.. you know the ones... hebigota or talterbo.. etc.
There’s shouldn’t be any safety risk when leaving modern electronics in the charger. The device manages the charging, battery life may be affected though. But any melting is meta’s fault and they need to investigate the root cause and fix the issue.
why doesnt the quest just stop charging when they reach 100% and wait till u unplug and replug - it would be so much easier, they should a least make it a setting
After my quest 1 years ago charging port burned out i never leave any of my quests charging after full charge, always leave atleast 50 percent battery and everythings fine
I hear this every time with any gaming system how do people burn a hole in their charging port this has never even been close to happening with me bro like did you leave it charging for 50 days while playing a game with graphics thats puts it on the brink of crashing?

The snapdragon processor has an integrated BMS that also uses sensors to dynamically adjust charging based on multiple factors. Its on the whitepaper.
what is battery balancing? and whats bms?
Thank you for the money sir. This will go towards fixing my Subaru and blowing up my engine. 🐒❤️
I usually charge my quest 3 until the LED light turns Green (which means it’s 100%) and use it until 20% to keep the battery healthy.
I will be back if it melts.
did it melt?
Yo is it still good?

0:17 okay that's some misinfo there. I only use my Quest 2 cable and brick because I'm paranoid, but using a higher wattage charging brick will not damage a device like that. It only takes the current it needs. Improper voltage matching can cause it, but that's unlikely. It's proper debris or damage to the port.
The sensors, just like the cameras on the Quest 3 are generally safe to exposure to sun light. But i would still recommend keeping it away from any Windows.
This video has made me paranoid about my meta quest 3 😳
Leaving a like for the Kanye transitions alone😂👌🏾
That melting port issue is most likely caused by rough handling of the cable into the port making the contacts loose. This reduces the cross section of the connector meaning current will try to flow through less material causing heat to build up in the connector due to higher resistance. Similar thing happened with the 4090 GPU's, because the connectors on those were being pulled to one side due to the way the cables went into the cards. Make sure your usb connector is nice and firm in the socket, if not, it needs to be replaced.
Watching this on my quest 3 while cleaning my room 😂
good fur u 😊
Whilst cleaning your room..you don't say.
I once burned my quest 2 by accident and they were nice enough to replace it even though sun damage wasn't covered under warranty. This prompted me to get the three and I am sure the service is still good. If you are having trouble just talk to meta support they are surprisingly forgiving for any kind of damage.
1 - Do not buy a Quest 3
Lmao
1- wait to see if you truly want a quest 3 in 2024 since there other headset supposedly coming out in 2024 by valve and meta
Why not buy a quest 3?
@HotPocketEnjoyer it great but 500 bucks is alot when the quest promised better graphics and mixed reality. But with mixed reality not showing it true potential anytime soon and quest 3 exclusives games won't happen for a long time due to quest 2 sales.

you can also use tissues or if you don't have any for some reason, toilet paper.

THAT IS HOW YOU CAUSE BATTERY BLOAT 😂
@@MarksterCit’s called overcharging protection
@@MarksterCit’s built in, do some research
@@444reapergamingthey recommend not doing that
@@YOUNGJBR you shouldn't do it because it will shorten the life of your battery not kill the battery itself. in other words your battery will still work but instead of lasting two hours it now only works for one. if you leave it plugged in the numbers will vary but basically it will constantly charge to full stop and when it hits 95 maybe it will kick back on it will always read 100 but it will fluctuate with out telling you
Along with #3 don’t leave it plugged in when your out AS WELL AS not when your asleep, when your asleep even though your in the room your not paying attention to your headset, it can drain the battery and cause issues you unaware of at the time until you wake up (of course not everyone stores their quest in the same room that they sleep in but the general consensus is that a lot of people do)
meta says on their website that you can use 45w max to charge, that being said i use an "anker 45w charging brick with about a 20 ft cable and it still doesnt keep my headset charged while playing, i get about 4 hours max maybe.. on the quest 2 i was able to use the charging brick it came with and a cheap amazon 20ft cable and i could play as long as i wanted at a steady 95 percent. this headset really sucks in terms of not only battery life but it seems to be charging rate as well.
so i read on reddit people are able to use an anker 35w charging brick and a generic cable and it works perfectly fine. i also remembered that my cord was having linking problems with my pc out of nowhere a few months ago, so im gonna get a new and better link cable and see if that helps at all, after that im gonna get an anker 35w charging brick if the cable doesnt help.
good to know 👍
Came in because I recently got a Meta 3.
Battery might be damaged though i have it connected it feels like around 3h play time
One benefit to buying at a brick and mortar store, I had a dead pixel on my first Q3 and just took it back and they immediately swapped it.
Dude same I always make sure we are home when it's charging so it doesn't burn our house down
i bought the quest 3 and i fear that the headset will burn down my house if i let it charge while i am not home, its my only problem with it right now lol
about port melting:
nobody knows for sure why it happens, because meta isn't telling us, but it's almost certainly not because of high power chargers. i can plug a 200W laptop charger into my wireless mouse, and it will be fine. i can plug a C to C cable into wall plugs on both ends, plug both of them into the wall, and nothing will happen. usb is an incredibly stable and safe standard, just make sure to buy cables and chargers from trusted brands/sellers.
so, why do the quest ports melt? can't be the power that's causing it, so it must be a defect. could be bad quality control, but it's more likely that you unknowingly damaged the port yourself.
how? well, ever play with a link cable, or simply play while plugged into the wall? that's fine, obviously, but:
- MAKE SURE that you SECURE THE CABLE correctly. tie it to the side of your headstrap with a velcro or something, then plug it in.
Thank you for the honesty, considering saving up for a quest 3 to replace my quest 2.

I physically cant listen to this my ears are being fried
How is it that we are still seeing consumer devices without overcharge protection? Literally HOW?
What about keeping it full charge because i have the bobovr with batteries ? Ore just click the magnetic battery on reaching 20 procent battery and take it off and full charge and repeat ?
The elite 2 battery strap was so dirt cheap on outlet(25€) i decided to get it and 3d print an adapter for my quest 3.. pretty satisfied with it. But would never pay full price.
The Quest 3 Elite Strap is actually pretty good. It's very comfortable.
I use the charging dock with the elite strap with an external battery, and now the external battery isn't working but the quest alone still works
3. use a smart power bank and charge through them i got 2 anker 20,000 mah power banks and just always charge the quest through the power bank this also prevents wear and tear on the usb charging port on the quest
the battery in the strap works just not how you would think it gives you a longer battery life ex: when you run out of storage on a computer you just buy external storage and boom you have storage the battery pack has the same idea it doesnt charge it, it gives it a second battery and has a battery level its self.
I don’t know if this is a problem for just me, but I don’t have enough money for a head-strap, and the basic head-strap with no add-ons is way worse than the meta quest 2. It’s either too tight, and puts pressure on my forehead giving me headaches, or it’s too loose and falls down on my face.
Can you leave it charging at a charging dock? I don't have one, but I'd like to know.
no I would take it off as soon as it is done charging or even when it is at around 80% as that will help the battery last longer

Meta quest 3. or if you have a very good pc. pc vr

Iv had my headset charging 24-7 since I was on quest 1, I'm now on quest 3 and play sat down iv never unplugged them and no issues
