And when these big banks get in to financial trouble, they run to the federal government to ask for a bailout, which they always get because "they are too big to fail."
Wait until bailins start.
guess who really pay the bailout? US the tax payers
The federal reserve AND private 'fractional reserve banking' are both the biggest scams the world has ever seen.
Not to mention, they get bailed out by the same consumer and taxpayer's money whose accounts they are holding hostage
and now they ate the whole first republic bank for free! the CEO is really foxy!
NEVER, NEVER, NEVER deal with Chase bank!
Only lawsuits will teach these big corporations that we are not going to take it. Good for this couple they’re not staying silence and brought it out to light. My prayers to them so they can get THEIR MONEY back. 🙏
It’s going to take more than that. Think old school way
Lawsuits cost a lot of money

I HATE this bank!!! They're shiesty to say the least! I've been summons to court in my small town for Feb. 6th next month over a mere $1,500 on my Capital One credit card for two months of not paying the min. payment on it then they immediately closed the account and took me to court! Local sheriff's office even put the court papers on my front door AFTER I received the same court papers by mail from them a month before! They try and make you feel like a CRIMINAL!!!!! But THEY are the CRIMINALS not the customer!!!!! They need to be investigated into and CLOSED THE FREAK DOWN once and for all!!!!!!!!! Enough is enough!!!!!! They shouldn't even be allowed to FREEZE anyone's checking or savings accounts because we need them in order to survive and live on a day-to-day basis! They're just evil criminals who can kiss my butt! I'll get money orders if I have to and eventually go to another bank or credit union in the future if they try and freeze my bank account(s)! Screw them! There's a REASON why people stop paying on their credit cards and most of the time it's not because of laziness. We're human NOT robots. We fall on bad times sometimes in our lives. Just happens. It's called LIFE! They don't even TRY to work with you because they don't want to. I don't even use them as a BANK.I have no bank accounts with them THANK GOD!!!! I'm not THAT stupid! I just got three credit cards with them (Amazon (which I didn't even know was with Chase bank unfortunately), Capital One and Walmart card). The Walmart card wasn't with them when I got it back in the day but they took it over and merged unfortunately. Praying I keep up my payments on the Walmart card but I'm almost in trouble with my Amazone card because I can't make the min. payments on that one right now too. Just feel sick! I'm about to get kicked out of my home (foreclosure) because I'm trying to keep up the mortgage payments alone which is nothing if I could just get me a job in this hole of a town I live in. It's awful how bad life has become for the hard working who are struggling just to make ends meet every day. Truly thinking about using money orders all the time from now on and never getting with any bank ever again and ask for a PAPER check be mailed to me instead of automatic deposit pay checks to a bank account. So afraid they'll be taken before I can ever SEE it in my bank account the day I get paid. So beyond sad and scary how our world and life has come to this. PLEASE SHUT THIS GREEDY SHIESTY BANK DOWN!!! 😡🙏
@PInk77W1 no need for money this is a lawyer's wet dream easy win nit even a question
I have had the extreme displeasure of working for both of these shitty banks/firms. As a compassionate person, my conscience made me QUIT both. I worked for them for years and NEVER OPENED ACCOUNTS WITH THEM AS AN EMPLOYEE. This is an everyday occurrence for those of us who are back office. I saw so many innocent accounts frozen over the years that it took a toll on me to see people not able to get payroll deposited, pay their employees as small businesses, SSI payments frozen, bounced checks, etc. And often people were not reimbursed for the mishaps. I saw the same people’s accounts being frozen numerous times. Accounts frozen over the weekends or long holiday weekends. It was heartbreaking.
There are many reasons why freezing happens, but most often, it is a lack of organization on the firms part. People also need to familiarize themselves with the US Patriot Act. Banks you transaction monitoring software that are used to possibly detect fraud or money laundering, etc. Compliance or corporate security has the right to recommend freezing or closure but are not allowed to divulge why. Something called a SAR is then sent to the feds. But the biggest reason is the organizational chaos that consumes both of these banks! The different departments know nothing about what the other is doing. The staff at the branches get the brunt of the anger and frustration, but are really powerless to assist. Your accounts can be frozen for many reasons.
That means no SSI, direct deposit, payroll for small businesses, etc. will be allowed to go in or out. I would suggest the following: 1. Taking your assets out these banks asap. 2. If you have a dedicated Financial Advisor, they could contribute to your accounts getting frozen by not being responsive to the info requested (but will tell you its back office fault). The lower the assets under management with a big bank, they care the less about your business.
This customers assets are chump change to them 3. NEVER HAVE ALL YOUR MONEY IN ONE BANK!!!!!!!! I see this all the time. You need to have money in at least 3 institutions. This way if this occurs your funds are not tied to this one bank. We also see this happening when banks collapse as of late! If this happens to you and they then unfreeze, take your money immediately as it will most likely happen again. These banks have been fined by US regulators for billions of dollars but the problems are still pervasive. I do not trust what our government does with the banks anymore as they seem powerless to really invoke change. Hope this helps.
Thank you so much for your information, I myself just recently over the weekend, Chase closed my checking and savings account without any reasons. Had the account since 1990, I was sad and angry, and I felt powerless. I live paycheck to paycheck, and maybe I got blacklisted because I didn't meet their high standards. Bye 30yrs of chase~ I thought chase Bank was the best bank in America. It's so embarrassing. I never thought a bank I chose can kick me out. It feels like a hurtful breakup that I feel I got dumped without knowing the reasons....
Very insightful. In this day & age, I do prefer to have a very well hidden stash of cash. I believe it’s necessary. There is too much dependence on these institutions, & they will step all over you again & again without reprisal.
Amazing comment!
What is the reason? Has to Some reason

Moral of the story don’t ever deposit your money at Chase, use a local credit union
This isn't the first recent story I've heard of Chase doing this with no explanation.
No, the credit union is over there getting grandmas locking up and stripping them naked🤷🏾♀️
Credit unions give your info to the govt too easily. Regular banks are much harder to get clients info.
If you don't know why they did it, you can't really draw any conclusion about it. Chase could be obeying a court order, for example, and can't talk about it under the same order.

Chase once froze my account without giving me any notice or explanation. I went to the branch in person and loudly refused to leave until I got an explanation. Turns out they had put my account into escheatment because "there was no activity for 6 months". WTF do you mean, no activity?? I get a direct deposit from my job every 2 weeks!!. 'Oh - deposits don't count as activity... only withdrawals do.", sez the genius behind the glass. As soon as the matter was resolved - I did indeed make a withdrawal. All of it. They are scum.
Escheat doesn’t happen after 6 months.

This bank is crazy 😧😧 i had account with bank of America over 30 years no problem
Every time Chase or any bank oversteps and ignores their fiduciary responsibility to their clients, they must be pursued PUBLICLY until the behavior is corrected, required to pay all expenses and losses to the client, and punished financially to underscore the lesson.
People do best with member-owned credit unions. The last time I had an account with a bank, they literally bled it dry with fees. Never again!
My bank doesn't charge me fees but I think I'll still transfer a big chunk of money from them into my credit union account just to be safe.
Any particular credit union places y’all have in mind? I have wafd but I’m trying to get a credit bank I can trust like y’all mentioned up above.
@@TodayJunior-p8b Credit Unions tend to be local or regional except for Navy Federal Credit Union, PENFED, etc. If you're not affiliated with the military, you should check your area to see if there are any others you can join for some other affiliation you have.
Same thing happened to me at a credit union.
Was it Fees of America?
Chase froze our checking years ago because they said our direct deposit bounced. How does that happen and why froze the whole amount? But weeks later they admitted that it was an error on there part. But the stress made me swear never to bank with them ever. NEVER!
Most employers have fine print where they can "claw back" any funds they deposited (most people don't know this). They claim this is for things like double deposits. But bounced? That's not possible.
Credit union is best
This makes no sense. They can’t sieze your money with no explanation. Do they have a court order? Are they being sued? I’m about to do the old school thing and put my money under my mattress.
Legally banks can hold onto funds with a reason usually for up to 30 days. After that, funds should be released. Whoever was responsible for investigating failed. 3 months is way too long to hold funds. BofA was fined for something like this
@Tavari This is what's going on with many banks - it's called Bail-In ---- when the bank(s) steal their customers' money. It's like the New Math. Our Rules and Laws only benefit the RICH.
@Tavari Banks apparently will take your money too “if they really want it”.. lol.. they don’t pay us anything in interest but use everyone’s money to accrue interest for themselves.. I need more mattress stuffing..
This is one of the things that we were repeatedly warned against that the Republican party, Donald Trump in particular was so fond.
He came into office and immediately wrote sweeping executive orders rolling back Financial regulations put in place under the Obama administration as a result of the financial collapse of 2008.
Banking institutions prove to us 15 years ago that they cannot be trusted to manage our money without oversight.
The GOP love to talk about limiting the powers of government but it's necessary when systems like banking control our financial livelihoods with impunity. This is why I support most Democrat campaigns.
The GOP lobby on the interest of everything thats keeping us from a better quality of life that we're killing ourselves to try to have-
big American corporations don't pay enough taxes and in the same breath low ball wages and leave the burden on the working class to fund the infrastructure of the country
Big Pharma is pimping us while killing is and inflating drug prices as they go
Gun Industry, the lifting of the ban on assault weapons in 2004 is a direct cause of increasing gun violence
Economic crisis of 2008 saw the entire country and as a result global markets suffer- people lost so much and after the Obama administration repaired the us economy in record breaking fashion he was honest about how we had gotten to such a point and made common sense regulations to ensure our money, markets and livelihoods stayed stable and banking tactics were more transparent and honest.
But for some unfathomable reason people vote for the party that gives more power to the entities that proved they don't have out best interest at heart.
Stop voting for them.
@Tavari you're wrong. same thing happened to me at Chase. It's a horrible bank and yes Chase will freeze your account for anything. Typically it happens after you report a fraud charge or something like that and Chase will go haywire instantly freeze all your funds and blame you for it. Don't believe me?! Open a Chase account and enjoy!
Stop banking at Chase. It's basically the Karen or HOA of banks now.

Best story for getting multiple bank accounts in different banks. Chase can freeze my account but at least I have access to my other accounts in different banks.

This just changed my mind on moving from my current bank to Chase!
Don't do it. Chase has far to many problems.

Find your local credit union it’s much safer
Never ever bank at the big banks: Chase, Wells Fargo ("a criminal enterprise masquerading as a bank" per Clark Howard lol), Citigroup, and Bank of America. Go with a local or smaller regional bank or credit union!
I am sure you would like to retract that statement now that small local regional banks are being looked at by the depositors
@@ed0078 Um, no, there is no reason to retract that statement.
That's because this is all done by design to scare people into dumping regional banks and putting their money into these big banks. I'm trying to remember the youtube channel who mentioned it.

If I had been the couple, the first agency I would have gone to would have been the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Loss of funds at an FDIC insured bank. I'm pretty sure that would have caught bank executives' attention.

contact your Attorney General of your state. Reg attorneys can't do much.
To me it's not about a bank freezing your accounts. A. mistakes happen, B. software can red flag an account because of certain kinds of "behavior." Fine being careful keeps us all safe, but there should be a federal oversight policy that when a bank freezes your account, you are immediately contacted and scheduled for sit-down meeting, with not only the bank rep who must explain what happened, but and independent ombudsman and your attorney. From that meeting a full explanation for what occurred, a timeline of resolution or a referral where your case is passed on to a state or federal agency for resolution should the bank's hands be tied over federal banking rules and regulations.
I don't have any big banks accounts and moved many dollars over to CD accounts in Ecuador © 9%. This sounds like a IRS , Treasury or FBI freeze. If this couple has foreign accounts and they never reported to the Treasury department, this could happen also. I knew people that risked not reporting foreign accounts and it did not end well. Court is the way to go with this but if they lose, it will cost them a bunch more. They should have contacted the fraud branch to the the Treasury Department and wrote their congressman before hiring an attorney. I had a problem with 5k at the Navy Federal Credit Union some years ago. I wrote the CEO and the problem was solved within a few days and they gave me 300 bucks for my trouble. Chase Bank is run by the elite Mafia, I would stay away.
I currently bank with a regional bank in South Carolina while living in the Philippines. But as soon as I can get permanent retirement residency, I will be moving my assets here. The US banking system as a whole just sucks.
That’s good until it’s not good and you lose your money
@@billyjohnson9166 Over the last 7 years I made about 55 thousand and have about 75 thousand over there now. So if all of Ecuadorian credit unions and banks lost all their money, which would have to happen because I am in the top three, then the insurance cover 32k per account and if they paid 50 cents on the dollar which I highly doubt because insurance on these accounts are pretty well funded unlike here, I would still come out ahead. I made 32k in two years because I had 200k in those accounts, until I bought my condo over there. And any money I lose can be written off on American Income tax because I claim my winnings on these accounts as income here and therefore you are allowed to take losses on foreign accounts. It's worth the risk.

Several years ago, the day before Thanksgiving I went to the grocery store to buy all the celebration items, it raised an "Unusual transaction", luckily I have another debit card from another bank. When I went in to inquire about why my card was declined they said I don't normally spend that kind of money.....its the day BEFORE THANKSGIVING.. there wouldn't have been a Thanksgiving that year if it wasn't for that second account.
Had the same thing happen several years ago with Chase Bank at Christmas time. Went out to do most of my Christmas shopping just a week before Christmas when Chase declined my card half way through the day for unusual activity on my account.
That can be a life saver but frustrating none-the-less.
Some of these banks need to be shutdown or least regulated harshly. They literally stole from their own customers.
BofA is a worst! Incompetence and rude! Opened an online CD with deposited funds. AFter 1 wk, still could not log in. Called & transferred many times. No one knew. I asked for a manager and she finally helped me and ordered the cash. These banks are using OUR money against us. It’s not bizarre, it happens more often than normal.
I work in compliance and risk, sometimes there is more to the story than people think. Sometimes customers have subpoenas and we have to freeze accounts, sometimes customers are going through litigation and a judge signs for customers assets to be frozen.sometimes people falsify claims and a thorough investigation needs to take place and if it’s a large amount they won’t allow the funds to be accessed. And much more.
@clot shots the bank is not obligated to give anyone information unless it’s signed by a judge, even if it’s an attorney. I see it all the time with people who are being investigated.

Chase is a different breed. They don't care how nicely you ask. They only respond to their own timeframe or to a court date.
Chase did the same thing to me. It wasn’t nearly that much money but it still hurt me. It’s because I tried to deposit a personal check from my father in law.
Strange, my account rose by $48,000 for no reason
Hahaha
Ooh ooh!! What’s their name? Could you be so kind as to hook me up with them?? 48,000 dollars in TWO Weeks! WOW!! lol…

They should contact the "Controller of the Currency and get a case number." I did some 10 years ago with another National Bank involving fraud at the bank and got it all back. Then I had to fight again to get the interest refunded when the bank opened up for an overcharge loan when the account was overdrawn.
They can recover 3times the amount owed in civil court small claims division. That's what I'm doing, The next step is to subpoena for the records and al judge will grant that. If I had stolen money from them I would be in prison right now. We need to expose them.!!!
I assume Wells... We should talk to a lawyer I've been getting more and more comments about my other video on UA-cam and there are at least three or four other people who said the same thing. And my video has since been removed for whatever reason but at this point I'm filing a small claims suit in Maricopa county and from what I understand what they do is count on people not having the ability or the patience to litigate but from what I understand they will settle as soon as they get served. And I'm going to make that as difficult as possible for them because they caused me so many other problems I don't care to discuss. But I would be interested in hearing what happened to you.

Don’t worry. Your money is federally insured. Sue and threaten damages.
It's probably someone from their bank scamming people
They froze their accounts and then closed them without handing the couple cash or a cashier's check? Sounds like bank fraud by the bank. Or out right theft.
I almost opened an account with them due to non stop invitation to bank with them. Thank goodness I saw this and few other news about them. Nope not gonna bank with them.

I hope not only Do they get their money back and all expenses, but every down the road which hopefully would be three times what they’re going for.
That's because the money's gone..theft, via someone who hacked the account, or an inside job at Chase declaring fraud in which the account appears frozen.
You think a judge will help them?
Chances are 80 % or more they won’t have an honest one. None the less. You gotta sue asap.
I'm pretty sure there was internal theft, Chase is trying to figure out what's going on without letting people know the banks confusion. They'll get their $$$ back at some point.
Chase put me on their "blacklist" years ago when i was younger. Ive been noticing a lot of abuses by chase hitting the news ALOT. I think ill stay on that list forever.
They're lucky they weren't arrested. I hope they win in court and Chase is lucky they aren't explicitly suing for more!
We dumped ALL Chase accounts, dumped their mortgage and refied with another Bank when we lived in California. This same story happened to people we know in the 90's.
Guaranteed it's BSA BS. There's been many situations where we've closed accounts but can't give any indication of why, because it's something to do with ofac. The worst part is, even the employees don't get an explanation as to why those accounts are flagged. So the front line looks even more dumb in front of the clients. Half the times there's no rhyme or reason when the account is not in good standing.
They better win this lawsuit
If not, every patron of chase bank needs to pull every penny out so the fail.
That's why I request paper statements from my bank mailed to me monthly.
Your paper statements aren't going to show any more than what you would see online.
@Joralemon Virgincreche if the bank shuts down and there's no internet connection, it's hard to prove what you had in the bank. Your paper statement shows the proof.
Banking needs about 10,000 tons of more oversight and regulation. If an account is frozen, the owner needs a due process hearing and a path to return their property to them within 5 days, not when the bank "feels" like it. An explanation should be given when the account is frozen, and the courts should step in within 5 business days.
Same thing happened to Wendy Williams
Just a little research will show that Chase is doing this frequently to longtime account holders.
It's called felony theft. File criminal charges on whoever put a hold on their money.
This shows how important it is to keep updated statements. I’m sure when the accounts were closed, online access to their accounts was cut off as well.
I don't think that this particular story involves "updated statements." Also, these 3 accounts were "frozen," not closed; the money still existed within the accounts, but the 2 customers had no access to their money/accounts.
I recently opened an account with Chase Bank.

Andre I totally understand I’m in the Philippines and have done similar. As you said you have to claim it as income which is required by the IRS. You have to be careful. Never have all your money in one place. Spread it around. I could say a lot but only by phone or in person.
I just saw a YT video that was about 2 years old showing a lady that had the something happen to her with Chase Bank. A complaint needs to be filed with the state Attorney General's office.
I have been using credit unions for many years.
Does any body know if this family ever got their money back ?????
yes they did.
If I had an account with Chase Bank, I would close it immediately and move to another bank. This should be criminal. They have basically stolen their money. Someone should go to prison over this. If I had stolen 48,000 dollars from them, they'd expect me to go to prison. So what is the difference?
Yup same is happening to my husband and I as we speak. We took money out of our 401k (we are retired) and they cashed the check but closed our savings account and are keeping the money. We are fighting it with everything we can but to no avail.
lawyer
as soon as you said Chase Bank, and that was enough, they won't even tell ya why they seized it. boycott of that bank
Move your money to credit unions. Banks cannot longer be trusted
Can you elaborate why credit unions are not as risky?
I closed my Chase acct, Chase is the new wells Fargo. If you look online, there's so many issues with Chase now. Glad they're getting sued, I'm looking forward to see how this gets resolved and they win. I REALLY hope they don't settle, it's the only way these banks will learn. Damn shame cause Chase used to be a legitimate bank we could count on.
Seizure actions like this are usually are homeland security and DEA enforcement - I am not saying those people did anything wrong, but someone else could have placed money in those accounts fraudulently and its seized until that case is resolved.
go to the court and ask to have their building seized and sold off.
Maybe Chase thought they were given a Christmas present of 48G's
Or did they confuse it with a government bailout/bonus?
First, that is not the only money/person being held hostage which is illegal. Second, what type of "activity" on the account is Chase referring to ? They seem like two normal functioning law abiding citizens, so what IS the real reason ? Third, they may have to contact the FDIC/FBI if this is not rectified by their attorney. Last, if that money does indeed belong to them, I sincerely hope they are able to retrieve it ! They should be searching for another bank or credit union to conduct their legal financial transactions. Good luck !
I had to make contact with other government agencies because of misappropriation of funds, and other white collar crimes ! What has been allowed to transpire to some of us is highly CRIMINAL and agitating !
I've heard of chase emptying your account and refusing to give you your money back unless you can producing a paper statement proving what you own.
Everyone needs to get paper statements from every bank they have accounts. Never go paperless (you'll be a target.)
Wow, I was just thinking that. I will change that right now, thanks!
Why aren't these criminal banks being charged criminally???
Take Out Your Cash. Big Banks are not SAFE.
Neither are the small ones. Small banks are now being scrutinized by depositors. Look at their earnings they will fail sooner or later
How can you retire with only $50k in the bank?
Good question. I thought the same thing.
How do they only have $48,000 in the bank with a house like that?
Then why are they crying about borrowing money and not having any? My point is still proven correct.
@@90gdv Did the bank given an explanation?
I new to Chasr bank. Now I will go back to a credit union. I dont like the bank fees.
I can't believe how honest the team is, *Cryptotraceback* an angel in human form. If you get scammed, if you can't let go, because I'm not a quitter, it's really good to get help, started watching your page on the internet when I was in downtown Seattle, and it happens to be accurate and brilliant. You fought evil very bravely. Thank you for saving and improving lives every day, being a crime fighter can be tough but you have stepped up with courage and strength.
