    Hello, nice video! I would like to grow my sphagnum moss to after dry it and us it for my plants moss poles. How do you dry it?

      I think that should be very easy..... just get as much water out of it as you can and then let it sit. Perhaps spread it on a table or something to help get more air to it..... but it should dry out naturally on its own after a short time with no water.

      Heat should kill it unless it goes dry and stays dry. I might suggest some shading so direct rays don’t cook it in high temps but I believe there are many different types of Sphagnum moss that grow worldwide! Try to find some that grows more tropical and you should be set! Thank you so much for watching! I will do an update soon to show how i’ve changed my methods a bit over time. Happy growing!

    So I bought 1L live sphagnum moss with the recent order of my carnivorous plants. When I received it, it looked way different that other sphagnum mosses I saw, including this one. Mine is smaller, and ot grows painfully slow. Not even sure if it's the right sphagnum moss, but it looks like moss from this video:

      Nejc Sterle it’s amazing, there are so many different species and varieties! I love the compact and slower foreign ones for orchids and smaller carnivores. I think the long stuff would be better for bigger nepenthes and things like that. Either way, I thoroughly enjoy just growing the different mosses. They add such a cool contrast and level of complexity and fun to the grow space! Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching! 👍🏼

    Is it just me, or does the moss in the containers look like mini weed Forrests? I've never seen the plants in real life, but theres a movie I watched and the plants in there look exactly like this from a distance. Lol great video btw. I always have a hard time keeping my mosses alive. I have teeny tiny spag moss sprouting up around my sundews right now and I truly hope I can keep it alive and grow it to look like yours. Tfs, New subscriber for sure and look forward to more of your videos.

      LMAO!!!! I never thought of it like that but can absolutely see what you are saying. That's kind of awesome actually! Live moss can be kind of picky but once it gets established, it tends to start growing pretty strong. Frequent fresh/clean water is really my only secret. I mist it down daily when its warm and every other day when cooler and it seems to really appreciate it. Live moss also doesn't seem to care for high concentrations of feed but does however seem to LOVE kelpmax or seaweed fertilizer in low doses weekly or bi-weekly. I hope this helps!
      Thanks for joining in the cloudforest fun! Happy growing!

      @@CloudforestVibesOrchidsMore hahaha! It really does! I really tried remembering the movie where the paned out on a big weed farm that this reminds me of. But it's so funny. Also, This helps tremendously! Thank you so much! I believe I am letting the moss get too dry, aaand, I'm pretty sure I killed my last "batch" of moss trying to fertilize it to see if that was my issue.lol I will definitely make sure to not use any fertilizer around the new baby moss growing. I know fertilizers, and other plant foods/nutrients are made different and specifically for plants to be able to absorb the nutrients etc. But I have some kelp powder I ordered a while ago for facials.lol do you think maybe either steeping it in some water or just mixing it into water and pouring a little here and there would be ok or beneficial at all? Or would it need to be further broken down somehow for the plant to be able to even absorb? I fear possible mold issues if I just mixed and poured instead of doing a tea. So sorry for the long rambling question. I hope I'm making sense and it's not too stupid of a question. Lol

    • @CloudforestVibesOrchidsMore
      @CloudforestVibesOrchidsMore  4 роки тому +1

      Brandon Mendoza I cant say whether it NEEDS the drop but it gets one in my tent. More drastic in the winter but still. I’m relatively certain there are many different individual species of sphagnum moss. Some may require the drop and some may not.

    Do the tips have to be a certain length to be cut and propped?

    • @CloudforestVibesOrchidsMore
      @CloudforestVibesOrchidsMore  4 роки тому +1

      Muddyboy Chris great question! I would say no as long as they are green growing tips. You can cut them off about 1/4-1/2” under the head and it should push on quite nicely, provided they stay moist. I personally like to cut them when they get a little longer to make sure the stem is down far enough to wick moisture up. Thanks for watching!

    Do you grow the moss for rooting?

    • @CloudforestVibesOrchidsMore
      @CloudforestVibesOrchidsMore  4 роки тому

      SK B well, it kinda started as an experiment just to see if I could keep it alive. I’ve recently started using it on some mounts and cannot accurately say I’d it is helping with the rooting but the plants definitely do not seem to object to it either. I’ll have to update you guys once I can figure out if it’s actually as beneficial as everyone says. It’s been a fun project regardless and the moss adds a really vibrant pop of green to the grow tent! I highly recommend it if you have access to some!
