Cloudforest Vibes; Orchids & More
United States
Приєднався 4 кві 2020
Hello and welcome to a Cloudforest Vibes! Join me to take a look at how I grow orchids and carnivorous plants in the home. I started my channel mainly because I love miniature orchids and I want to help show people that most miniature orchids are nothing to be fearful of and they are MUCH easier to grow than a lot of people will tell you. I hope to bring all of you along on my journey of collecting and caring for everything from cloud forest miniatures to dry savannah growing species of orchids and everything in between. I also have a huge love for carnivorous plants and mosses and keep an ever growing small selection of them as well.
So, welcome to the Cloudforest Vibes!! I hope you enjoy! Please subscribe if you want to help show your support! I also love comments so please feel free to reach out and say hello!

Paraphalaenopsis laycockii Remounting With Good Close-up Footage
Hello and welcome to Cloudforest Vibes! Today's video was shot quite a while ago but I had to share it with you all! In this video I will be addressing my Paraphalaenopsis laycockii and getting it off it's plastic mount and onto a nice piece of cork bark. I managed to get some really good close up footage of cleaning up this orchid as well as getting it situated onto it's new mount and am hoping this video will help anyone who is trying to learn about how to mount orchids. Thank you so much as always for watching and being a part of my channel! I am still embarrassingly behind on my comments and other social media outlets but promise to get back to each and every one of you VERY soon! Please take care, stay safe and enjoy! Happy growing!

A Look Around at Some Orchids While Flushing
Not sure if you are able to answer but i was just curious if gou have any tips Sophronitis coccinea? I have two seedlings, primary hybrid and its main ancestor is coccinea and i am struggling to make them stay happy. To be expected im winter i suppose cause its quite dry. Thanks in advance! And no pressure. Just looking at yours and its so beautiful! Love your setup. -L
Hahaha hey I also started in jars on my windowsill 😂
Wow thats the best looking leaves I've ever seen on a twinkle. Impressed truly. And I love watching your videos for your oddball orchids or rather just the gorgeous plants that you never see video of.. But I just had to specifically mention that. Tolumnia calochilum or calochila is in your intro and I am so interested in that! But haven't found the video yet. I wish I could find someone with triquetra. I love your Masdevallia exquisita!!!
Thanks Bobby. I have tried to grow Soph. Cernua and many of their crosses ... just now FINALLY figuring it out. I've had several bloom this year. More light and allowing to dry completely before rewatering is the key whether growing on mounts or in pots. AND, always in Sphagnum moss. I have tried adding more moss to decrease watering interval, but plants where subject to more rot issues. I AM still growing on windowsills in Alaska which presents lighting and temperature issues, but have recently purchased a commercially made orchidarium (trying to find space! Also, have a HUGE aquarium I hope to build a similar Orchidarium that you built. Good luck blooming yours ...
Beautiful 😍😍😍
How many degreea of temperature drop do you reach with this ventilation system? I‘m actually looking for a solution for my highland chameleon. ☺️ Great video! That‘s what i call perfection!
Please continue making videos ❤
😍😍😍
wow lotax is much smaller than I thought. I was put off by draculas since some have quite large laves
Nicely done With your Spanish moss! I didn't even know that it bloomed! What does it smell like???
I ordered live sphagnum moss from a Canadian man who goes to a local bog and cleans it so super well. Excellent quality product. And it stayed good for so long. And from that moss I swear it just helped my rescue orchids recover so fast. At least that was how it seemed to me. I used it for a lot of things and from those I actually have live spaghetti that grew a year later in a couple of my pots and now I am harvesting it to grow myself! After a bad purchase of Chilean moss.. or "zombie moss" as you called it and I quite like that term. But it has caused a lot of issue with my plants I used it with.
I whis that can i have Spanish moss
Btw. Really smart with the curved scissors. I have a tiny pair ofnose gair trimmers... Lol that i use for my fine root plants. But i honestly never realized to consider there were bigger ones i should use for my other plants with tougher roots.
You need some slender needle nose pliers! Nice video. I want this plant so much.
Props on tag appropriation hah
Life is a seven layered maze, sandwich.. on steroids.. am i right? Its also a bitch And then it has puppies. O_- Beautiful orchid setup. And love the way you grow them -L
Also very much so appreciate pictures when youre talking of blooms.
Very very helpful. Subscribed. Like your simple video teqnique Very research worthy. Little frill. And plenty of plant view! Thanks for a refresher
Can you write the name of the material you use to clean it? Thank you
What did you do with the scraps
great idea...I was told that the moss hated touching metal...I guess that when it's painted it's alright ?
Do you still grow orchids?
Nice idea.
I'm trying to grow live moss on top of standard spag in self watering pots. It takes a loooooong time to grow 😅 (at least the kind I have does), but I'm hoping it will stop ciano from forming on the top. I'm not a fan of bark in my environment, and thus far have done well with a mix of leca and moss (depending on the plant). If anyone else has done this successfully, would love to hear your experience-have heard some people say it lowers oxygen to the plants but I'm not too concerned if it's just a top layer and the pot has airflow beneath.
I dont like bark as a medium for epiphytes either, but I still do like them mounted so I grow them on terracotta, designed as little twigs or stems, depending on the size of the stems ( my miniatures are mounted on equally tiny pieces). It has the same functions as terracotta pots, so its able to suck up quite a bit of water in itself and the surface is also a bit rough and has carved in ridges to provide a better surface for the roots to grip on. Im also growing some tropical mosses wich I attach in patches to the media. Unlike Sphagnum, it attaches itself to the media over time as it grows, just like the mounted plants, allowing to remove the threads after some time, wich I really like. It ends up covering the entire media and grows a whole lot slower and finer than sphagnum, lowering the risk of it overgrowing the actual plant. Downside is that these types of moss cant take up nearly as much water as sphagnum, so I have to watch out for moisture even more carefully. I do love sphagnum as a top layer for carnivores tho, like Drosera or Nepenthes, and grow two types of sphagnum, one native to europe for my houseplants and one tropical for my terrarium plants.
First time I see your channel, very impressive ! Orchids are very pretty and healthy looking. What approach do you have or recommend when your orchids are infected with thrips or any other diseases. I am currently struggling with thrips. HELP!!
This thing is amazing mate. Do you even have to water it or does it just go off ambient?
Definitely have room for more 😂
Hi. I love how you hang the Orchids on the chunks of bark. They look so natural. Do you find them in the forest?
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Good to see your update on the orchids Missing your blogs
❤❤❤❤ this is so relaxing to me to watch😊
It be cool if you labeled on the video the orchids you are working with I can’t spell their names
Hope you’re doing okay man, very much missing your informative videos
Where do you get your orchids?
What are the settings on your humidity and temperature controllers?
Funny how I find a similar building I’m working on and instantly fall in love with the setup. By any chance what settings do you have for the humidity level so that the mister kicks on ? And what’s your max temp for fans to kick on? Thank you in advance.
Lepanthes telepogoniflora LET ME KNOW IF ITS FOR SALE 😊
Where did you get the mesh for your greenhouse?
Здравствуйте! Благодарю вас за полезные и познавательные видео! Надеюсь, что у вас всё хорошо и мы ещё увидим ваши новые видео!!! ❤❤❤
So does using a combination of sunlight and leds work well?
Magnificent! I love watching your videos, I have several miniatures that are doing well. Still learning constantly and you are so very knowledgeable on how you grow and film your information! Can you say what state you live in? Many Thanks for sharing!
Are you still keepeng this plants now? What light you are using for them?
you said you have the one fan towards the bottom angled down and this is helping the mist to move upwards? would love to know more as I'm trying to achieve the same mist flow
Orchid brah!!! Where u at?
What temp and humidity limits are you using?
Id would be very helpfull
Got my first mounted orchids two weeks ago from J&L in Connecticut. Gastrochilus japonicus (East Asia) - Fragrant Bulbophyllum barbigerum (Western/Central Africa) Foul Fragrance - I thought this one would not need as much watering and I liked the foliage.
