Your welcome Carrigan. When I first got into guns UA-cam wasn’t around and I learned a lot of lessons the hard way. I’m still learning! Have fun shooting! AG
I bought an SXP Extreme Defender recently and it's the first gun I've ever had. Being new to owning guns, I had no clue how to do any of this. Thanks for making this video because it has helped a ton!
Thank you for reminding me that you have to take the trigger group out to remove the slide. I was away from shotguns for several years and couldn't remember how to take the slide and bolt out for cleaning.
I picked up an SXP defender on sale. After rebate, (fde) 179.99. I figured, if I had a self defense scenario, I'd rather have the popo take my $180 shotgun, than my $3k rifle. Haven't fired the shotgun yet, but manual says clean first, so I found your video. Good show, thanks mate.
Thank you. I just bought an SPX. When I got it home it was in the box, completely disassembled. I'm not really a "gun guy" so I wasn't sure how to go about putting it back together. I just followed your steps and it's all good.
You sure make putting the bolt back in a lot easier than what I did. Took me a number of tries. Thank you. And I did lose my firing pin spring the first time. Nice video, just what we need nothing we don't!
got my SXP field today.. used this video to clean it out and would be heading to the trap range tomorrow.. Can't wait to shoot this awesome gun.. The bolt and the chamber are built like an AR15.. So robust.
Great video, great Teacher. Thanks. Lovely shotgun for sure. Simple to use, simple to clean. I bought the 18" for deer hunting in the swamps where I live. Needed a light weight solid performer. This gun fits the bill perfectly. So nice to have a shotgun with a short barrel with Chokes!
Currently going through gun cleaning tutorials got one I saved for my 45 1911 cleaned it lol found one for a hi point 9mm got that cleaned just finished this video I shall do that some other day and now I’ve got to find one for my mossberg patriot 270 which seems pretty easy and straightforward but I need to make sure
Thanks, I have never personally owned a shotgun but have fired them while at the Sheriff's Academy years ago when I was in L.E. We never had to clean them, but I have since bought my own shotgun for home defense, and I needed this video to ensure that I would be able to properly maintain it. Thanks a bunch.
Thanks for a great straightforward video. I'm assuming, but is it the same for a 20 gauge of the same gun (I'm brand new to shotguns and just want to make sure I don't miss something)? Thanks a TON!
hi,.... Thanks. Nice job. No one seems to mention the trigger must be cocked to re install the trigger group into the frame.... I could not install mine until i cocked the trigger. Mine is a stevens 320, but the same design.... Does that sound correct to you?
Hey buddy great video. We have a problem with our brand new Sxp .It was fired twice and the pump action won't discharge.also safety is stuck and disconnect won't work.
New sxp defender, decided to clean thoroughly according to manual. Could not follow manual clearly but assembled based on how I disassembled. Receiver was difficult to line up and reinsert pin, had to use tap to get it in, your video shows it being very easy to insert. should I disassemble again and try over to see if anything is wrong. So far it looks like it's working but I'm not 100% sure. Any suggestions.
Great video thank you Can you give me a list of the cleaning supplies that you were using I see that you were using a synthetic oil and I am familiar with the gun scrubber and the other one was Otis dry lube got that but what type of synthetic oil were you using for cleaning is a a clp
It was birchwood Casey synthetic gun oil. For the brush you can use a tooth brush or any of the many from Otis. My go too for most cleaning is the blue brush but having a few stiffer brushes also comes in handy at times. Aaron
How do I clean the forcing cone area of the barrel on 2.75" + 3" chambers, and what cleaners should I use for lead vs plastic, on my one gun, does it all shotgun?
I have a brand new Remington 870 field master I have only shot 7 target loads through it and I went to clean it and the patches keep on coming out a brown color and I let the break free clp set for about 25 minutes and I repeated this for 3 times and they are still coming out brown I used the bronze brush in between the patches and it doesent help but I looked inside the barrel with a bore light and it looks completely clean
Love the closing statement!! I did have a question about gun oil. I and the rest of my family seem like we have always used 3:1 oil for shotguns. We live in south SOUTH Louisiana where the temp is high and the humidity is HIGHER. Should I switch to the stuff that you use? Can you tell me what makes the 3:1 oil a bad choice for gun cleaning. On a side note we do clean all excessive oil off the interior workings of the gun the trigger assembly slide and bolt. I just usually give a good wipe on the exterior and interior to help with that humid salty air we have down here.
Curious question, on my sxp the safety works fine if its cocked, however cant be put on safe if not cocked. Is this a normal thing? Is there something in the way if the hammer isnt cocked back?
This is normal. Most guns need the hammer to reset before the safety can be set. If it wasn’t this way the safety would not allow the hammer to reset or bolt to move rearward for loading, etc. AG
I waited in suspense the whole video for the windex and it wasn’t used. Do you use the windex for anything normally? Never would’ve thought to have that in my cleaning kit so I’m just curious
Just making sure are you supposed to see the pin coming through the hole in the bolt because when I put my together everything slid and clicked how it was supposed to but I wasn't sure if a tiny part of the firing pin was supposed to come through the bolt or not
I had to cock the trigger group before inserting it, otherwise it wouldn't fit. Is that normal? I saw one video that said the same thing bust most people don't mention it. Is that okay or did I do something wrong? Haven't fired it yet, but snap cap practice doesn't seem to be an issue. Everything seems to work fine. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!
If I’m following you correctly, the trigger group was in the fired position when you attempted to put the gun back together. You had to reset hammer on trigger group to put gun together after cleaning. I see no issues with what you said. One thing to be careful of is how the trigger group got into the fired position. If it accidentally happens during cleaning this is something to avoid. If you gently let it out that is fine but yes it should be reset to reinsert. Have a good one. AG
I cleaned my gun I put the bolt on the slide correctly, and put it on the magazine tube... the trigger but when I try to slide the barrel back it doesn't go over my magazine tube any help please?
My slide rail broke near the bolt. Winchester SXP Defender. I fired 6 rds #7 1/2 and 6 rds 00 buck and (1)3" magnum slug.. First time out of the box, is the metal its made with I fervor cause it's made in Turkey ?
Sounds like a defect. It should run for a long time. The only times I’ve seen them break is during trick shots where I twist the forearm while pumping. Aaron
Careful, gun scrubber can damage that dipped finish. Mine is brand new, I gave it an initial cleaning with CLP, and just that was enough to cause the finish around the front end below the barrel to start wrinkling and peeling off.
Now do brand new guns, out of the box, usually need to be cleaned like this? Or would it be ready to fire as soon as I receive it? The SXP will be my first firearm, and I don't want to mess anything up.
Sxp manual states that you should clean off the rust protective oil from factory and then oil it with proper gun lube. It's a good idea to always read through the manual so you KNOW how to operate and maintain your firearms.
Thanks for the tutorial from France ! Helpful for my first shotgun !
Thank you so much. This is exactly what I needed being new to shotguns. I appreciate you guys making content to what the viewers want.
Your welcome Carrigan. When I first got into guns UA-cam wasn’t around and I learned a lot of lessons the hard way. I’m still learning! Have fun shooting! AG

Best cleaning video ever, no time wasted, just get to it and easy to follow. Subscribed
Best example I've seen so far. Thanks for completely breaking down the Pump action shotgun and showing what and how to clean it......... Well done !
Thank you for reminding me that you have to take the trigger group out to remove the slide. I was away from shotguns for several years and couldn't remember how to take the slide and bolt out for cleaning.
@Nonya Biznes well, I guess then at some point you may run into function issues if you fire enough rounds.
I just come back and watch the video for the satisfaction of a clean firearm. A-1 Gravy, my guy.
Very great vid, thanks. I only use ballistol on my shotgun for both scrubbing and oiling purposes.
That intro was gnarly 🇺🇸🫡
The Winchester SXP and 1200/1300 are very Nice to clean and GREAT shooters too

Brother. What a fantastic and thorough video. Thank you so much!

The thumbnail for this video is one of the best things I've seen in a while. Great video man!
Thanks appreciate the cleaning lesson. I am about to purchase an sxp and you answered the questions I had.
You sure make putting the bolt back in a lot easier than what I did. Took me a number of tries. Thank you. And I did lose my firing pin spring the first time. Nice video, just what we need nothing we don't!
I just purchased a Winchester Super X Pump Defender. Excellent video on disassembly and cleaning. Thank you very much sir. God bless America.

This was very useful and simple to understand! Thank you!
got my SXP field today.. used this video to clean it out and would be heading to the trap range tomorrow.. Can't wait to shoot this awesome gun.. The bolt and the chamber are built like an AR15.. So robust.
That was everything I needed to see. Thank you 🙏!

thank you i learned a lot following your channel
Just what I needed!!! Thanks!
Just found your channel, great video, I've just put a deposit on a secondhand SXP with an extended choke tube 9+1, thanks from the UK.
I use carb choke cleaners. Works great first fyi.
Nicely done!!

Awesome video! I just bought this shotgun and I need to know how to break it down and clean it. Thanks!
Thanks for a great straightforward video. I'm assuming, but is it the same for a 20 gauge of the same gun (I'm brand new to shotguns and just want to make sure I don't miss something)? Thanks a TON!
Ya should be
Only difference between 12 and 20 gauge is weight, length, and gauge
@@kenahmeraz2510 thanks, really appreciate it!
Excellent video. Well done. Thank you
Good Job Sir

Thank you sir. Very helpful
Probably the best break down and cleaning video for the sxp I’ve seen! Also where can we get that Winchester hoodie that thing is slick lookin!
Thanks for sharing. I've always used Hoppes and gun oil. What is the advantage of synthetic oil and gun scrubber over Hoppes and regular gun oil?
Great video...very helpful!
damn that trigger group pin looks like gonna fall out, didn't expect you to push it in with your thumb
Thank you very much.
Thank you!
Great video, thanks for your time and effort .
Excellent!
What's the names of those oils and cleaner you used to clean that shotgun with that was helpful
perfect , really helpful
Great vid. Thanks!

Do a durability test on the Winchester model 101
You send the ammo I’ll shoot one of ours till it fails 😂. I don’t have that much ammo lol. AG
How do I clean the forcing cone area of the barrel on 2.75" + 3" chambers, and what cleaners should I use for lead vs plastic, on my one gun, does it all shotgun?

vary helpful

Thanks very much for this video very hafill pall good man
‘Slides so nice.’ Lol
I followed your directions exactly when I was assembling my SXP 20 gauge for the first time and now the safety won't engage, what did I do wrong?
I love your video
I have a twenty-year-old Winchester 1300 shotgun that's never been fired. Do you think I need to clean it? Thanks.
Is the chamber guard plate supposed to have a little wiggle to it and be a little forward instead of being completely flush?
Great Thanks !
What do you do with the dirty brush ? Do you just keep it dirty till next cleaning or do you dispose of it every time, do you clean it ?
I just blow it off with the gun scrubber. AG
Dip it in mineral spirits and shake it dry.
I cleaned my gun I put the bolt on the slide correctly, and put it on the magazine tube... the trigger but when I try to slide the barrel back it doesn't go over my magazine tube any help please?
Ty guys
Is there a white film that forms from the dry lube? I use a different brand and that definitely happens
I’ve never noticed a white film with Otis dry lube. I use it on internal parts. Aaron
Is the bolt should be poped out a bit from the bolt slide
Hey, what are those black lines on the forearm of the shotgun? Are they for extra grip?
I like GB slogan and the videos also ;)
My slide rail broke near the bolt.
Aaron
What is the index for?
Gun Scrubber? AKA Brake Clean/Parts Cleaner? Or no?
My forearm assembly will not come off and I can't figure out why. Would you know?
Careful, gun scrubber can damage that dipped finish. Mine is brand new, I gave it an initial cleaning with CLP, and just that was enough to cause the finish around the front end below the barrel to start wrinkling and peeling off.
What about gun scrubbers synthetic safe cleaner? Scared to use it on my guns finishes cause I’m scared it’ll ruin them.
What brand of choke did you have on your SXP I noticed it was an extended choke
Great
I have heard to never use oil on choke threads.
Wow, that’s a lot of oil and lube. I’m not use to spraying so much. Especially on the trigger group.
