    Winchester 1200 Defender is a great shotgun. Bought one back in 1986. Built nice. This shotgun is made in Turkey. Built very cheap but still a nice shotgun for the price, not like my Defender 1200. It's a shame there not American made anymore, the big company's sold out to other countries.

    Hello i own an winchester sxp defender in tan dessert.
    I have shot around 400-600 rounds i have had it for to years and have not have any jams or problems.
    Its a good pump shotgun i have abused my and i use it alot
    Only bas thing i can say is lack of aftermarket parts

    • @811brian
      @811brian 6 років тому

      that's mainly because winchester isn't a mainstream brand of firearms anymore. I got the ati halo 2 heat shield in the mail for mine, and qd slings should work well for it. I'm also planning to get a HEVI-shot choke for it. some of these things are aesthetic, but having ghost ring sights and a slightly tighter pattern will hopefully work well for my needs.

    • @Evergreen1400
      @Evergreen1400 5 років тому

      I completely agree I love mine and didn’t buy it with the intentions of modifying the fuck out of it but besides ATI nobody makes any parts for it,I got the basic defender model and for the life of me could not find an aftermarket rail to put on it I ordered the ATI forend with rails on it and was not able to mount it so I called Winchester and spoke to a lady named Christina in the parts dept asking if I could buy the rail that comes with the Marine defender model and another model she said they don’t sell that part independently but she happened to have one on her desk and she sent it to me free of charge I can’t say enough how impressed I was with her customer service it really made Winchester look good in my eyes. So now I have my rail mounted on and I couldn’t be happier. My SXP is my go to gun when I hear a bump at night but I’m not the type that just keeps a gun in the closet I take mine out every Friday and put a box or 2 through it I’ve never had any issues I’m interested in testing out some of those new (Federal Mini) shells do any of you guys have any experience running those out your SXP’s?

      I just don't think they can. Look at how gutted the US manufacturers are now. Ill see in a few days as I have a 1300 I bought as my first in 1984 and an SXP coming next week. Let's face it tge US is failing in almost every way. We won't recognize it very soon.. At least we can still buy guns period. Turkey can make nice guns and what you recieve is 100% up to Winchester management. I think people forget how finely tuned a manufacturing operation is with respect to cost. Every step and material choice is obsessed over and a balance is struck. If allowed to these Turkish makers could put out some pretty nice guns. Just saying that what you have is precisely what Winchester decided to give you...for $300 or less remember.

    I guess Turkey is where you go for shotguns these days. Btw, isn't Winchester known for its short action? I've got a 1300 marine and the action is short and fast as well. Actually, after watching the whole video, the SXP resembles the 1300. Maybe, a comparison to show what differences they made between the two because they look like the same shotgun, just a different name....

    • @Jaqobee
      @Jaqobee 3 роки тому

      The gun comes with a 3 round capacity. You have to put two in, then slide the action back to bring one shell forward. Then it will free up space so that you can put another shell in. Most states require a 3 capacity limit for hunting migratory birds.

    • @Daisy-cx8xd
      @Daisy-cx8xd 3 роки тому

      @@Jaqobee unless you have a short tube, it should just be a plug in the mag tube. Take the mag tube out, you may need to remove the follower, and the plug will come out. Made in Turkey!? What kind of bullshit is Winchester pulling here?

      JeepJeep234 If you did any research you'd find that Turkey is putting out some pretty dang good shotguns. I guess you could get an 870 instead, where all the parts are made in Mexico.

      Kevin P New York, Remington shotguns are made in New York. Since you do such great research.

      I don't know if I'd use Remington as an example of great quality firearms. Their QC has really slipped in the last 10 years.

    It is an SXP... but it is NOT a Winchester!! Winchester ceased to exist in 2006. That THING you are holding is made in Turkey... NOT New Haven Conn.

      Yeah Winchester is just a brand label that gets slapped on. AFAIK, Winchester ammo is made by Ohlin.

      I've owned Stoeger, Benelis, Franchi , Browning, BERETTA S , Mossberg, Rem Arms and Winchester . All are very good reliable and dependable. I use the mossberg and winchester often and most all shotguns are foreign made these days . The Turks do an excellent job on the Stoeger 3000 autos. The Retay autos, and the Winchester and Rock Island armory VR80's and VR 60's. Rem arms and mossberg and Ithaca are American made but sadly the American shotguns are not made with chrome lined barrels nor protective finnish as well as even the cheap winchester SXP. I'm afraid the days of made in America are becoming fewer and fewer. The more I read up on the better Turkish factories the better I feel about the quality of the weapons they make. The American politicians sold our country's firearms manufacturing out from under us.
