I absolutely love that the Chaos Emerald designed to give you a clue where Froggy is just shows him swimming in a pond with a fuckload of fish and the only identifying feature was a water fall visible in the back.
These godly powers and it's just: "He's in a pond! GO FIND HIM!"
To be fair, if you sit there long enough on it, the music changes to indicate the location. While he was on it, it swapped to the Chao Garden music, indicating he was in that region.
Unironically this is a genius idea. The coolest part of the Big levels in SA1 that most people don't get to see is that the levels are HUGELY extended with entirely unique portions for him. The roguelike mode is cool but I also think it'd be neat if there was a "permanent" mode with, like, incentive to catch regular fish and buy upgrades with rings.
games that are made as a joke but have alot of detail put into them and they make you question if this game was actually made a joke is one of my favorite genres of games
Hearing Big talk aggressively is probably the funniest thing to me, as someone who likes the character unironically lmao
(Also watched a friend, who's a fellow Big fan, play this on a Discord call last year, and we were surprised how much detail was put into this game's world, even with the clear mixing of preexisting Sonic game assets; makes me kinda legitimately want a Big or Knuckles game like this but obviously with more substance to the gameplay lol)

Why does this game actually look so sick. Like it has so many neat references like robotnik base from aosth or the unused ufo from marble zone. They did not have to go so hard on a big fan game.

Big casually deadlifts a car in Sonic Adventure to get into the sewer.
The Chaos Emeralds in this game are genuinely how I want it to work in the actual Sonic games, you don't ONLY get power by getting all seven, they're each powerful on their own as well. So you should get different power ups, or something similar, by getting each Chaos Emerald. Getting 6 can be like false super saiyan from DBZ lol

I was expecting 15 more acts where Big keeps dropping froggy due to completely coincidental events beyond his control.
9:58 For those that don't know, that's a reference to the Marble Zone saucers from the Sonic '91 prototype that would just rotate in the background. They would be restored eventually in later modern ports like in Sonic 1 Forever and I believe in the mobile ports at some point too.
You know my favorite thing about salty? It’s that you can never predict what he’s gonna do. Play a sonic game? Yep. Explain bagged milk to his friends? A classic. Travel to Australia to fist fight a kangaroo? Classic salty.

10:05 I hate the fact that I'm such a huge Sonic obsessor, that I just KNOW that the UFO is actually a scrapped asset in the background of Marble Hill Zone, which was shown in early screenshots but never made it into the actual game, and was also recently seen in a development build.

Actually, the weird spherical object seen at 9:56 might not actually be the Saturn logo!
Given that the part of the map is supposed to be Marble Zone, it's actually likely the scrapped UFO element of Marble's background in earlier versions of Sonic 1.
If that's the case then this is a pretty neat thing to reference, since I always thought the ufo's were a really interesting element of Marble that got cut in Sonic 1.

Why do I kinda want a Big the Cat game officially now. Like, open world is a bad idea, but a bunch of Odyssey sized levels with hidden upgrades, fishing spots, and minigames would be fun.
Make it feel silly and stuff, and just like in Sonic Adventure, have Big accidentally save the world, where he just is trying to find Froggy.
This game is actually, unironically really fun looking. I might check it out.

I love the underlying plot of this game. Big the Cat going fishing in the open world can be seen as just a simple video game. But if we look deep enough we can a game about how the Democrats and the president of the United States of America, Joe Biden, are secretly creating an underground militia to overtake the USA and that the only way we can stop this from happening is by creating a super team with members like Sam O Nella, Kevin Hart, and Nutsack Tickler Bear from the Care Bears to take down the militia that is being built by the corrupt government.
