I think in the upcoming months we'll finally start getting a bunch of gaming news and reveals. It's always like this around this time of the year - May hopefully will be the start of 'game reveals' season.
BG is right about the dances on Socom, I mostly played Socom 3 but it was the same on there a prompt to dance would appear on your enemy, I thought it was hilarious when I first saw it and yeah dudes took that as massive disrespect also going prone and teabagging on them was done too.

I love when games are harder to play when you don’t have anything fully unlocked. You wanna feel the progression and power from having all the skills. Plus when you do the NG+ it feels great coming out the door with every skills and weapon.

Well to be fair box did get the first Bayonetta on the 360 😂 Also it is important to point out that Stellar Cakes is running on UE4 which is obviously way less demanding on current gen consoles versus UE5 (which is what Hellblade II is being built off of) which is much more demanding and require a lot of work to keep perofrmance at something like 60fps while not sacrifising the fidelity greatly. That game immortals of aveum didn't have performance/ quality modes and just opt to target 60fps. The game dipped in frames quite regualrly, while it stayed in the 50's typically, it did drop to the 40's a good amount of the times, anf the visuals took a huge hit. Not even joking, look up the game if you havent seen full gameplay of it, and Digital Foundry had a video on it.
And just oging to put it out there, the mjaority of xbox's output are 60 fps or having quality/ performance modes. the last 10 or so games they released all have 60 fps standards or options besides Redfall, Starfield, and now Hellblade II. Redfall was just a complete mess and garbage of a game... but surprsingly they did put out a 60 fps mode months later lmao.

Huge Gears fan and the MP, but I most defintely agree that the MP, pvp specifically , is not welcoming to fresh new players and its honestly a niche pvp game, especially since the newer series with 4 and 5. They could try to lean even more into the PVE content they always have at launch with horde mode and then with hive busters. Its honestly low key kinda like a smaller scaled helldivers. They could further flesh out all of it and make it feel like their even more of their own multiplayer/ co op game and not just a mode, but then also still have their normal pvp stuff.
One thing I will say is, while the pvp MP can be hard to get into, they always had dope af pvp modes like "guardian". Which funny enough there was a game that recntly added a new mode/ game type in their MP that is literally the Gears guardian mode which is each team has a captain/ leader and the whole point is ech team is trying to kill the other's captain. Once the captain from a team is killed, you don't get asny respawns and basically you just have to kill the remaining players. But if the captain is alive, you can contiue to respawn when you die. I forget what recent game hd an update with a similar mode lol.
The latest Gears (5) had a total of 41 million players as of 2024 with a roughly 5600+ ative monthly players. The monthly players is obviously pretty bad, but for a game that came out 4.5 years ago and doesn't really get updates anymore ...and its a niche pvp game, that's not so bad all things considered. I wonder if they go full live service ... or at least "live service/ regular or semi-regular updates until the team puts out whatever their next project is.

I also play on 60, I also have a $2k tv. I understand game mode quite well. EVERY new tv game mode is REQUIRED for it to be no lag, actually, most tvs AUTO DEFAULT to game mode.
Disc games have the game on the disc I'm 90 percent physical and the games are on the disc 95 percent of the time. Resident evil remake immortal of aveum all on the disc

My prediction for trash PlayStation is: Showcase in mid to late May, where they'll finally show first-party games for NEXT year and maybe a 1 or 2 for this year, and where they'll show the not needed PS5 Pro which will probably be $600 - if it's more than that they're crazy; but people will still buy it at the end of the day.🤔

With gears absolutely not with the rpg elements the hub areas killed gears 5's replay value as the open parts were chores to play through. hivebusters has a more positive reception in the gears community as it feels more like gears.

Gotta disagree with BG, Stellar Blade basically is a Souls-like. Just because you don’t lose anything when you die or cause it has difficulty settings doesn’t disqualify it from that label. It’s so easy to see in the level-design and lack of emphasis in air combat and flashy combos. It’s definitely not a DMC/Ninja Gaiden/Bayonetta style game like most people expected it to be. Hate to admit it, but Blandrew was right.

It's definitely more closer to a Soulslike game than a, DMC/Bayonetta/Ninja Gaiden style character action game. It plays nothing like a character action game, in terms of, combat/mechanics/combos/fluidity/techniques. I still think it's a pretty decent game. It's mostly weak point is it's somewhat janky slow feeling combat. Which I'm not sure why it's getting a pass or people making an excuses by saying you have to unlock skills for the game to feel natural or better. Jack is right that is bad game design.
