      Tom, I've watched a lot of golf tips on YT and followed a lot of your input over the last 18 months.
      I tried your weight forward tip a year ago and started hitting decent shots but my gammy left knee got sore and I started all sorts of swing theories.
      Three of your key tips I found really helped me... 1. The weight forward, 2. Trail elbow slightly tucked, and 3. Low hands takeaway.
      Trouble is the more YT tips I tried in recent months caused 3 big problems..
      Firstly the more tips I added to my "list" meant that the earlier learned tips drop from my mind.
      Then I found that my form and confidence on course was nowhere near as good as my practice form. Then I tried so hard to perfect my backswing that I couldn't swing thru properly!
      End product is I've fallen apart in recent months and course mentality is killing more, soooo - I'm going back to your basics. (FYI the biggest improvement I get is when I remember to keep my hands "low and in" in the takeaway, somehow I get a better turn and crisper ball strike.?
      Keep up the good advice!!

      Great video as always! You should make a video on the correct address position with the shaft straight with the lead arm instead of pointing at the belt buckle. Incorrect address and consequently the grip is messing up a lot of people

    I keep typing the same thing into the comment box for Tom. #1 I think Tom's approach leads to the fastest improvement of anyone on UA-cam, and it is honestly amazing he offers it to us. #2 We all start thinking too hard and Tom just keeps imploring us to keep it simple and use common sense. Now can we just get back to scoring better and having fun? Thanks again Tom

    Living here in MB much year round golf opportunity. Since joining Tom and his training...........SIMPLE/COMMON SENSE approach to the golf swing..............not so many things going on in the head. KISS is the way. Yes I am still having bad days but due to not doing as I know to do and fighting the head game of golf. Always will be a work in progress too.............but at 73 I am able to shoot low 90's and dip into the 80's and happy for it. I know that with the Stack and Tilt thoughts and what Tom has shown here..........Consistent 80's is coming. Gotta stop the 3 putts LOL

    Saguto your swing methodology is like a reliable Japanese sedan. Efficient, easy to locate parts, low maintenance, and a lifetime warranty. Whereas many other instructors, who insist upon "shifting your weight", "rerouting the club", "releasing the wrists", and so on, are trying to sell you some limited edition Euro coupe with endless upkeep and bad gas mileage. That's why I drive a Honda and swing stack and tilt, it's just common sense!

    Tom, I wasn't sure if you were the right guy to help with my golf swing, but you managed to reference both The Princess Bride AND Robin Hood: Men in Tights in a teaching video, so clearly you are the most qualified instructor on UA-cam.
    With that said, how the heck do you manage to get Stack & Tilt to work for Driver??? I can mostly integrate the concept with irons (shorter the better) but I can't seem to dial in a consistent move with driver.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  3 місяці тому +2

      LOL! Two classics indeed, and obviously a valid qualifier for any PGA instructor.... 😆😆
      It is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some practice range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: ua-cam.com/video/o0xscMyN3v8/v-deo.html Beyond that, if you search the word "drive" on this channel you'll see some related content.
      Oftentimes when golfers are hitting everything well except for the driver it can be attributed to one of the following:
      1) Their hips are not continuing their lateral slide through impact. This is common with the driver as the wider stance means that the hips have a greater distance to travel. If the hips stop moving laterally towards the target on the downswing then their rotation takes over, inhibiting any further necessary forward weight loading (we should be 80/20 forward halfway down, 90/10 at impact, and 95/5 in the finish), changing the low point and rerouting the club into a steeper angle of attack (AoA). This can produce a variety of undesirable results including fat and thin contact, topped shots and popups, straight pulls, and “banana” slices.
      Of great importance is keeping your upper torso/head in place (in other words, not moving towards the target from a face-on view) while the hips execute the lateral slide action. This preserves the swing center and the desired shallow AoA.
      2) They are not allowing the length of the club to dictate the backswing path and are getting too steep as a result. The shaft of the driver is considerably longer than the other clubs and thus requires more of an around the body backswing as established by the shaft plane at address. It may "feel" flat as they take it back along the shaft plane for the first few feet, but as long as they maintain the "weight forward, shoulder down, and hands in" components while allowing the club to work around them, it should put them in the proper position at the top so they can attack the ball from the inside. (A good feel for that lead shoulder is "down and in, under the chin".)
      3) Many believe - and some even teach - that we must try to "hit up on the ball" with the driver. However, consider that in our stock setup with the driver the hands are even with the inside of the lead thigh (as they are with all clubs when playing a standard shot) and our ball position is even with the inside of the heel of the lead foot. This presets a very slight degree of forward shaft lean with the driver. Beyond that, the ball is behind the zero-point of the swing (which is even with the lead shoulder), meaning that without any contrived manipulations the club will still be on its descent - albeit very close to flat - at impact. So, perhaps with the exception of folks with slower swing speeds - or those Long Drive participants teeing it extra high and hitting maybe 1-2 balls out of 10 onto a 60-yard wide "fairway" - in general the path is still ever so slightly down. In fact, the PGA Tour average with the driver is actually minus (e.g.: downward) 1.5 degrees - nearly level - and it should feel level - but slightly down nonetheless. (Here is an article on Ping’s website addressing this topic - ping.com/en-us/blogs/proving-grounds/optimal-launch-and-spin#:~:text=According%20to%20Trackman%2C%20PGA%20Tour,85%25%20ball%2Dflight%20laws )

    Thanks Tom, instant results. I been back playing for a month now after a 5 yr lay off. My ball striking was terrible and it's not something I ever struggled with. But I hit the range yesterday after watching your videos for 3 or 4 days. I took the sway out, weight onto the front leg, straight left arm, tucked right arm. And I hit the ball so well, not only my ball striking was good but I could actually hit the target over and over again. if I played a round, I would of been 15 shots better off, it was just a night and day difference. I'm excited to play golf again and return to single digits , thanks you so much.

      I'm thrilled for your improvement and I appreciate your interest in getting together for a lesson!!
      I had phased out private lessons (both in-person and virtual) awhile back so I could dedicate more time to my online school. I've not yet set a specific date for when I will resume them (it should be fairly soon), but when I do the virtual lessons and swing video analysis service will be reserved exclusively for my online school members. In-person lessons at my South Carolina location will be open to members and non-members.
      If you are in my online school please send me a message through the "chat" feature and I will add you to my list to be notified when slots open up. If you are not in the school yet, that would be a great starting point if you are interested in any form of personal instruction. Beyond that, the school is designed to get you on the fast track towards properly learning this swing system in a comprehensive, structured, sequential platform. That is where you will find very detailed lessons and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish, along with diagnostic and corrective tools for resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues, and much more. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. Stay warm up there and keep up the great work!

    Always enjoy your video lessons Tom, very informative yet simple to understand. Once one has this method of swinging firmly down pat, what is the best way to "ramp it up" and gain more acceleration and distance with this swing? What are your thoughts on "speed training" and the best (or worst) ways to achieve more speed (acceleration) and distance?

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  3 місяці тому

      I sincerely appreciate your kind words, Ken, and I'm very glad to know that my instruction content and teaching style are resonating with you!!
      With regard to ramping it up, if we pre-establish the connections properly in the setup and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct actions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. The "power accumulators" - including the proper arm, wrist, and hand action - will then naturally load and fire in sequence with no contrived manipulations or precise timing necessary, thereby returning the face to the position pre-established at address. It's called "giving up control to gain control", and it's the formula for consistently blissful ball striking and seemingly effortless power.
      Having said that, some of my students have done speed training and achieved favorable results, and I would say that as long as one does not depart from the boundaries of this swing system there is no harm in giving it a shot. However, if you really wish to take your learning - and your game - to the next level and have not yet enrolled, then my best suggestion for getting on the fast track towards properly learning this swing system in a comprehensive, sequential platform is my online school. It will make for a far more efficient, superior, and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through these channel videos that jump around randomly from topic to topic. The school is where you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish, along with diagnostic and corrective tools for resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues, and much more. Tom- you’re right. Makes so much common sense. I must admit that I fall victim to watching other great golfers on other UA-cam channels who focus on shifting the upper torso to the right, “dropping,” and many other things. They make it look easy, and what they say sounds wonderful, so I end up convincing myself that I can emulate them. But finding consistency when golf isn’t the center of your universe is difficult, which is why I love your common sense approach. I find that when I follow your advice and keep my weight forward and just focus on bringing the club back to the same spot every tim I can at least make contact with the ball with much greater consistency. And amazingly, even when I’m not taking a big backswing, I sometimes hit the ball crispy clean. Bottom line- I’m doubling down with the crispy KFC approach; meaning I’m going to focus on keeping my weight forward, my left arm straight, and bringing the club back to the same spot every time. If I can build in some other stuff as I progress, that’ll be great. But in the meantime I’m going to keep my focus on the common sense approach. Thanks, Tom, for all of your great videos and advice. You’re the man! Long live KFC!😊

      The golf swing is indeed overly complicated in particular by one part of the human body: the brain and all the swing nonsense and misguided instruction it has been fed. Garbage in, garbage out; and countless golf swings have sadly been trashed as a result. This is not saying that golf is "easy" as it most certainly is anything but. However, the complexities of the swing - both real and perceived - can indeed be greatly simplified and easily repeated if we ingrain the motion through proper drilling and keep our brain out of the way!

    Great video, as always! I have to disagree that knowing we need to strike the ball first and make a divot after is common sense. I have been paired with SO many beginners who after a bad shot say: "I couldn't get under the ball." They sincerely believe the club is supposed to get under the ball and scoop it. I'm not surprised they think that way because I did too for many years.

    I lost my way in the past months trying different things and while my scores have improved a lot from more awareness on the course and better strategy, I feel like am hitting the ball worse than when I was shooting in the 140's last summer. I noted during my range trip this weekend I was hitting fat often and was experiencing both unplanned fades, draws, a handful of flat out hooks and even a slice or two. Got home and went back to the divot board and a short iron. Weight forward, hands forward, head locked in space and straight lead arm and instantly the ground strike and face strike is back where it should be, swing path is back to the usual slight in to out.
    Sometimes we stray, but we always come back... it's just common sense.

      If your face angle is square at address but then presenting itself open at impact, then it seems as though there is either a faulty grip and/or some unwanted handsy manipulation occurring somewhere in the motion. If we pre-establish the connections properly in the setup and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct actions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. We're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that connects effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. However, no matter the variety of suggested feels/thoughts offered for a particular element of the swing, they are all directed at getting different golfers to achieve the desired positions, motions, and results. This is why I routinely recommend the online school - saguto.golf - to anyone who truly wishes to experience the joys of consistent, powerful, body-friendly ball striking bliss. The sequential lessons and drills provide the guidelines and set the boundaries, while allowing ample leeway for each individual golfer to infuse and exercise their own uniqueness.

      The golf swing is indeed overly complicated in particular by one part of the human body, Jeff: the brain and all the swing nonsense and misguided instruction it has been fed. Garbage in, garbage out; and countless golf swings have sadly been trashed as a result. This is not saying that golf is "easy" as it most certainly is anything but. However, the complexities of the swing - both real and perceived - can indeed be greatly simplified, for example as demonstrated here in this "set it and keep it" lesson: ua-cam.com/video/tIf0GO8w0XQ/v-deo.html
      Now, if you'd really like to get on the fast track towards properly learning this swing system in a comprehensive, sequential platform, please consider my online school. I can answer that with the fact that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. *_It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion._* Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built.

      Thanks for the great progress update, John - well done!!

      I like a lot of what Charley has going on in his swing and I was really pulling for him yesterday.
      The only issue I have is in the the trail side loading that he has going on in the backswing. I really think that if he kept himself centered or even favored his lead side it would take the strain off of his lower back without sacrificing any of the great power in his move.

    I can't keep my lead arm as straight as yours thus limiting the range of my backswing. This presumably results in a lower swing speed and distance. Is it Ok to bend my arm slightly while still keeping the right elbow tucked in and down close to my side? My turn around the waist is very good.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  3 місяці тому

      Hi Ralph,
      If your lead arm hangs straight at address, then you should be able to keep it straight for the entirety of the swing. A very slight bend is okay, but the key here is get to - and not go beyond - your body's natural stopping point in the backswing. This is the point where if we were to try to go any further any or all of the following will occur:
      1) the lead arm will bend and/or lift
      2) the wrists will break down
      3) the lead knee will kick inward towards the trail side
      4) the lead shoulder will level out and lose its orientation towards the ball
      5) weight will shift into the trail side and bring the low point back with it, resulting in inconsistent contact and unpredictable ball flight.
      6) you'll "chicken wing" and/or flip through impact
      7) pain, discomfort, and/or possible injury
      We don't need to try to get to "parallel" with this swing, and fighting your body in an attempt to do so will result in some combination of the above issues. If you execute this swing properly you will have created width and plenty of distance for that club to travel by taking it in deep, and that will enable you to harness the tremendous power source known as "angular momentum".
      By the way, regardless of your age you may be interested to know that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. *_It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion._* Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  29 днів тому +1

      Correct. With regard to this erroneous notion that we need to affect some type of active hand-rolling “release", given the inability of most folks to spend sufficient time at the range to lock in the required exactness of such an action this misguided thought has led countless golfers astray. It's not something that even the vast majority of pros are trying to consciously manufacture during the split second that the clubhead is traveling a distance of approximately 6' from parallel to parallel at speeds in excess of 100 mph. The forearms will naturally "trade places" from pre- to post-impact, but this should not be construed as a contrived move (although many a casual observer has gone down that rabbit hole). There really ought not be any active manipulation of the hands through the zone and attempts to precisely time any such rolling or flipping - which does nothing for swing speed - have relegated many an amateur to the vast abyss of inconsistency and frustration.
      Stick with the position-by-position school curriculum. It will make for a far more efficient, superior, and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through these channel videos that jump around randomly from topic to topic.

    Hi Tom-another great video! OK, I have a question. This does make common sense, and I went out today and hit some incredibly good shots employing what I’ve been learning from you. Here’s the thing. When I let my arms hang naturally and keep my left arm straight, and keep the weight on my lead leg and foot about 60/40,, I end up with the club brushing the ground near the inside of my lead foot, which means that I’m placing the ball about 4 inches behind that, which ends up being about in the middle of my stance. Trying to figure out whether there’s something wrong with me and whether I should try harder to move the low point of my swing even further forward. However, that doesn’t feel very natural, and it doesn’t seem to make common sense. It makes more sense to me that I would just let my arms swing naturally, and wherever I can make that divot happen repeatedly and then place the ball about 4 inches behind that. Like I said, I did that today, and I was hitting some really nice strikes. But again, that ended up with the ball near the middle of my stance, not just behind my left ankle. I just watched this video again, and it seems like your ball is also sort of in the middle of your stands. Can you please share your thoughts with me? Should I just leave the ball in the middle of my stance because that’s the way my body is naturally working? I’m hoping you’re going to say “yes, Matt, that’s what you should do,” because again, trying to artificially push the low point of my swing further in front does not feel natural, or comfortable to me, and doesn’t seem to make common sense. Thank you Tom. All of your videos are great, I’ve learned so much from you. Cheers.

      Hi Matt,
      Without any manipulations the physiological low point of our swing ought to be where our lead hand is closest to the ground while it naturally hangs straight down, thereby placing it even with the shoulder/armpit area. Makes "common sense", right? 😎 As for ball position, we first need to be aware that camera angles can greatly skew the viewer's perspective in this regard. That aside, while this system affords you some leeway, in general once my students and members show some level of proficiency with the swing I suggest that they migrate to a stock ball position that is in the middle of the stance for short irons, two balls inside the lead heel for middle irons, and creeping more forward for the longer clubs - the farthest forward being even with the inside of the lead heel for the driver (with the stance width increasing as we move from shorter to longer clubs). From there they can make incremental tweaks to see how different positions affect impact quality and shot shape.
      Having said that, you are venturing into the realm of detail that is well beyond the scope of this free forum but which you will find readily available on-demand in the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of my online school. I personally deploy more of a neutral attachment, James. If left unchecked a strong grip can result in a flip through the zone, so while I do not have a problem if that is a golfer's preference, one ought to remain cognizant of the tendencies. Our impact quality and ball flight are quite adept at telling us if our grip starts leaking too much to the strong side.

    Is it just me, or do have a slightly wider stance than most people recommend? It does make sense to not release the hands, but it also means most of us who have been releasing to keep the face square through the whole swing, as the release is meant to close the face after opening it up in the backswing.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  3 місяці тому +1

      Camera angles can greatly skew a viewer's perspective with regard to both ball position and stance width. My widest stance is with the driver, where the insides of the heels are shoulder-width apart. This is quite standard. The stance gets incrementally narrower as the clubs get shorter.
      Rolling the face open in the takeaway and then trying to square it up with the hands introduces variables that must be precisely replicated and perfectly timed from one swing to the next if there is to be any hope of consistency. It also does nothing for power except to reduce it. Here is a lesson video on this topic: ua-cam.com/video/4uxcuKSJUGQ/v-deo.html
      Instead, if we pre-establish the connections properly in the setup and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct actions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. The power accumulators - including the proper arm, wrist, and hand action - will then naturally load and fire with no contrived manipulations or precise timing necessary, thereby returning the face to the position pre-established at address. It's called "giving up control to gain control", and it's the formula for consistently blissful ball striking and seemingly effortless power.
      While there are certainly other videos on my channel that address this, a better option for you would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Have you worked through it yet? This body-friendly, powerful, consistent, low-maintenance swing system is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology, and it is modeled on empirical observations of the game's most prolific ball strikers. As such it does not discriminate by age or ability - from kids to seniors and everyone in between, inclusive of the best players in the world. Watch any Tour event on TV and you'll see a significant number of golfers executing these motions, a fact corroborated by just how many of them have a very centered swing with the lead knee flexing and the trail leg straightening during the backswing, their lead arms on or very close to their tilted shoulder planes, and their hands deep behind their trail shoulder at the top. So, despite the ridiculous "stigma" attached to S&T by those who either don't understand it or who are otherwise inconvenienced by truth, those indisputable laws of physics and geometry cannot be held back, regardless of whether or not the "forbidden label" is attached to any particular elite player's swing.
      Thousands of folks across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result of learning this swing system through my online school, and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. Compare and contrast that with the sad reality that despite all the advances in equipment, technology, golf course grooming, etc. the average golfer still struggles to break 100. Epic failures within the realm of “conventional” instruction, perhaps??? So many misconstrued and/or misguided teachings - such as taking the club straight back, turning the shoulders level while independently lifting the arms, shifting into and torquing against a firm trail side, firing the hips, actively rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of inconsistency and chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well).

      @SagutoGolf  3 місяці тому +1

      We first need to be mindful that camera angles can greatly skew the viewer's perspective. Having said that, the widest stance is with the driver, where the insides of the heels are shoulder-width apart. The stance gets incrementally narrower as the clubs get shorter.
      And no, our setup absolutely does not impede - and in fact encourages - the proper hip action. Weight forward 55/45 (up to 60/40 with the longer clubs), both feet flared out approximately 20 degrees with the knees similarly angled outward, arms hanging naturally from the shoulders (except for the driver, for which we push them out an inch or so to encourage more of the around-the-body motion needed for that lengthy shaft), and hands even with the inside of the lead thigh are prescribed setup features of the swing system I teach. This orientation provides for an unrestricted 45 degrees of tilted hip turn, at which point we only need to add another 45 degrees of shoulder turn for a full 90 degrees. The result is a centered, stress-free, flowing motion back and through, and a very body-friendly, consistent, powerful swing.
      Would you like to learn some key aspects of the swing I teach in a more structured manner? If so, then here is a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  3 місяці тому +1

      Actually, David, this body-friendly, powerful, consistent, low-maintenance swing system is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology, and it is modeled on empirical observations of the game's most prolific ball strikers. As such it does not discriminate by age or ability - from kids to seniors and everyone in between, inclusive of the best players in the world. Contrary to what you are saying, watch any Tour event on TV and you'll see a significant number of golfers executing these motions, a fact corroborated by just how many of them have a very centered swing with the lead knee flexing and the trail leg straightening during the backswing, their lead arms on or very close to their tilted shoulder planes, and their hands deep behind their trail shoulder at the top. As for those who take it up higher with a disconnected lifting motion, it took them years and years to hone their craft and get their respective swings dialed in to the extent that they have. That's a testimony to their hard work, determination, and perseverance.
      This is by no means a "flat" swing as some might misinterpret it to be. It is a one-plane motion, meaning that there is no independent lifting of the arms and hands as you would see in a two-plane move. In other words, there's no need to "drop it in the slot" if you've already put it there. Instead, by properly maintaining our connections the arms, hands, and club are "elevated" as a result of the tilting, turning, and extending motions while the lead arm crosses the chest 45 degrees and the trail arm folds to 90 degrees. Beyond the repeatability of this motion without the need for precise timing and coordination of variables, by creating depth and swing on a tilted arc we are fully harnessing the tremendous force known as "angular momentum", where physics and geometry collide.
So many misconstrued and/or misguided teachings - such as taking the club straight back, turning the shoulders level while lifting the arms, shifting into and torquing against a firm trail side, firing the hips, actively rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of inconsistency and chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well).
      I hope that is a sufficient explanation. If so then here's a link to my FREE mini-course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” in case you’re interested in learning some key aspects of the swing system I teach in a more structured manner: go.saguto.golf/ If not, well - my job is to inform, not to convince, and as such I thank you for visiting and wish you all the best in your golfing pursuits.

      @@SagutoGolf really interesting thanks for the response. I stand corrected then. Will look out for this on TV. Can already think of a few players who finish their back swing in the slot. This is probably why Ive always had more compression with my half swing. Can't say this will totally stop me trying to emulate McIlroy etc's BS length though . Cheers

    Well Tom, I have a dilemma. I now outdrive my golfing buddies thanks to your excellent instruction but how can I tell them the secret?
    I want to spread the word on your behalf but not if it leads to me losing again.
    I know-I'll tell everyone except my golf buddies. 😂😂

      I can appreciate your situation and your desire to practice "cautious charity", David......😆😆
      At some point you'll just have to trust that you have enough of a head start that they'll never be able to catch up to you. To help "insulate" you, if you've not already done so have you considered enrolling in the online school and taking your learning - and your game - to the next level? That's where - in addition to detailed lessons and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish - you'll find diagnostic tools for identifying/resolving swing and ball flight issues when they arise, plus advanced level instruction, and much more. At just $14.99/month or $149.99 per year the value in terms of what you get for that price point is beyond comprehension, and based on proven results it represents by far the best golf instruction deal on the planet.
      Thanks for the message and support, and keep up the great work!! 💪💪

    Just about everyone says to put the ball just off the left heel. I notice you put it in the middle of your stance.

      Hi Mike,
      I'm not sure I agree that it's "just about everyone" LOL....
      Anyway, we first need to be aware that camera angles can greatly skew the viewer's perspective on ball position.

      Based on statements he has made about his golf journey, sub 10 hcp for sure. I have been following him for at least three years. Tom's strength is teaching how to be consistent with irons through the driver. My game has benefited immensely from his teaching, going from a 30 hcp to a 17.

      I really don't get to play enough on a regular basis to bother with maintaining a handicap, plus it wouldn't do me much good as a pro since I'm not eligible for any amateur tournaments at my club. I did get out the other day and was +3 with a rusty short game lol.
