As an all-in backer I'm really glad that you've been involved in the design process, very reassuring. The models look amazing too, crazy amount of texture and detail - can't wait to paint them.
These might be the best monster minis I have seen. So happy you and Alex convinced me to back this. If nothing else I am going to have a blast painting these
I really appreciate when the sculpt takes into account we are gonna be looking at minis from a bird's eye angle. Many cool minis out there are chockfull of details that almost never get seen unless you pick it up and bring it close. Dynamic (from up top) poses with interesting details on the sky-facing bits can pull a LOT of personality and aesthetic weight on the table.
100%. While I didn't have much control over the original designs, I mentioned many, many times how things will look on the table. That is, from an angle above and a few feet away. That drive a lot of things around seams/parts and there really shouldn't be any readily able to see from that angle. That's the goal anyway :)
This is my most anticipated game, and I have no problem with the extra time it's taken to get them to this level, and adjusted even more, it shows how much they really care about the end product
Thanks for the detailed analysis. This was one of the first kickstarters I ever signed up to and can’t wait to get it. I’m impressed with how much care and consideration is going into making the models just right, excellent work.
that's a great way to start on crowdfunding games! I hope you really like them once they arrive for you :)
Originally wasn't going to back this but did at the end, we were still new in hobby gaming and assumed we wanted dungeon craw/campaign/story driven games, that is until we played Townsfolk Tussle and a few other boss battlers on the channel and really liked them. So glad to see the minis are such high quality, can't wait to get our copy to paint and play on the channel.
I hope you guys like it as much as I did :)
Very glad you consulted on these. They look amazing
That was super impressive! So glad you are helping out with it and it's looking great!
So beautiful! Admittedly a bit over the top in places for my taste, but can't fault them for having fun with it. And boy are they pushing it!
haha I hear ya. It's an interesting style right? Kind of cartoony at times even.
Looking great!!! Very glad that you could consult on these to make the minis the best they can be for us! Now I can't wait to receive them though lol
Trust me it made a big difference! You get what you pay for in time and money and they've invested both and I think it shows.
Oh, very nice! I can't wait for these guys to arrive at my door!
These look really good. They look better than the renders did. I'm still not a big dumbo or barney fan, but impressed. Completely changed my opinion on them. Might be the most of an unboxing I've watched. Good work.
Ah super glad to hear that! I was actually a bit sad since it's such a light color on the minis I thought about priming them in a darker grey for the video to show better so glad it turned out all right in that regard.
Love your work and coverage on this!
Thanks so much! Happy to do it :)
Amazing! I'm so chuffed you are part of this process.
It's been a lot of work but enjoyable. I'm glad I can help make these as good as they can be :)
@@TheKingofAverage and this is why you are so well respected. Your attitude is true and doing this for all the right reasons. It's great having you as part of the hobby and yt media, very much needed imo.
That was fantastic! Really glad I backed this game, hope it's as good as the hype was!
So excited to get this game!
Really looking forward to painting and playing this game.
I thought about putting the artwork up for each one because it's going to be awesome painted. That beaver dude for instance is a blueish white fur not brown like most would think for instance :)
The monsters are looking pretty darn sweet.
Awesome!
Are some of those "super fine details" like the teeth of the hump whale dragon actually going to translate to visible details when translated to PVC?
Edit: Also, that second last mini I think it's Vyraxen is that actually going to work in final form without drooping forwards? Its center of mass looks a long way forward from where the two legs are attached to the base.
Do you know if the miniatures come in a separate box all together or are they combined with the game components?
I believe mixed in with the game components on top.
I’ve been going back and forth thinking about late pledging primal, and the more updates and content that I see, the more my wallet wants to pull the trigger. Tremendous minis KoA, thanks for showing them!
You are very welcome, glad you like them! Still a bit more work to do on them too! My hope is they are the best they can be for yall :)
Can you still late pledge it? I’ve been on the fence for like 3 years lol
@@billable1861 yes, you still can! I'm still on the fence and am waiting until the very last moment!
Man these primal minis are all so good, i really can't wait for my all-in to come..the story is going to be amazing too :)
I hope you really like them! :)
Thanks for a look into the process and a preview of the minis. Really excited for this. Do they use colored bases for play characters? My worry is if they do the minis no longer fit on the terrain so perfectly. It was a small issue in Nemesis with the escape pods that bugged me.
Might be wrong but if I recall there is no character ring ...
Nope no rings that I recall either :)
I certainly dont recall there was going to be so many minis. These looked great. I think people are going to be very happy with their purchase.
There's still more! I think partly what makes it seem like so much is the amount of large minis you get. That's not normally the case even in boss battlers :)
Are these coming on sprue or will they be pre-assembled?
Pre assembled no worries :)
Thanks for the detailed video. I'm glad you ended up doing cooperation with Reggie Games. This is THE game I'm waiting for, hopefully production will start soonish.
Working on it! Sorry for the delay, it's mostly my fault but I've put a ton of hours going over all of this and doing lots of back and forth to get it to the best spot I think we can. A few more tweaks on some of these and they are golden I think :)
The dorklord give a second watch on this video. Look at those miniature!!! Big. Huge.. with fine detail.. primal !!!! Primal shall be glorius
Minis look damn good, I wish they was an add-on for some kind of wash. Maybe I'll have to learn :)
Easily done in a single afternoon with a bucket of Army Painter Quickshade ;)
Out of curiosity... do you know if the company doing those minis may do wash on them.... pretty sure a lot of people would pay to enhance the detail without having to paint them... 😅
By the way seriously you and reggie game are doing an awesome work with those minis... hope your proud of your partnership and work on this project !! 😇
Love the chapter names! :D
hah! :P
Just curious if you know they originally said with the rock that you can stand on for the terrain they were going to "Hide" the circle so its wasnt pronouced. Seemed that didnt happen at all. Guess its to late to change it up at this late stage?
I was not involved in that process and they promised that far before I ever joined. By the time they asked for my consultation the circle was already there.
That being said, I am all for games being more "bump proof" so have no personal issue with it, but I can certainly understand the desire.
You could add more texture on the top inside the circle though for sure as well. I'll mention it, but I know they don't want to delay just for that either, and I doubt you guys would want that too. We might be able to squeeze it in though :)
I am soooo excited for this game
It's really fun too, not just pretty minis :D
I keep forgetting I backed this. Damn those look fantastic
Thanks! I hope you like them. Some of my favorites sadly aren't here like the peacock feather guy. He was improved quite a bit even from the render!
Dude, I cannot freaking WAIT to paint these.
Me too! The feather guys in particular are going to be AWESOME painted :)
Now that Oathsworn has been out for a few months now, do you enjoy playing Oathsworn more than Primal?
I wish they offered a painted option as Dragori Games does for the Dragons. I don’t think I will ever get around to painting these.
Extremely excited to get my hands on these. The sculpts look amazing. Glad I backed Primal over MH World: The Board Game. Thanks for being apart of the quality check for the designs. Made it that much better.
Thanks! :) I hope you like them!
Those bases are lacking texture on some of the minis, especially the main characters and also on some random minis there are patches of just blank areas with no texture. I know its shipping soon. Curious if the bases ever got more focus during production or not.
I agree
As I said I can im.after they were sculptors so could just adjust what is already there really. It was their initial design choice to have them that way.
Are these still pre-production or is this actually what we will get?
Pre-production but what you'll get will look this good in the end. 2 things lead to that:
There's still more improvements to be made (though not much), and the plastic won't be this bright, which hides a lot of detail. The grey minis you'll get will show their details very well.
And lastly, these are larger minis. It's much easier to make big minis where your details can remain crisp. :)
@@TheKingofAverage I kind of like the lighter plastic over the grey plastic, although I could see that potentially being an issue with any kind of wash or sundrop application.
Wow! These miniatures look SO much better than the blocky renders shown in the campaign. Kudos for your efforts! I couldn't understand the point of huge minis with what looked like no fine details. That was a huge turnoff to me and a major reason that I hadn't upped my $1 pledge. The other reason that I held back was not being a fan of the cards. If you're asking me to pay $200 dollars for (what is ultimately) a card game, those cards better look damn good and from what I've seen, they just don't. They're not colorful and lack variety. I'm baffled by their choice of not putting more effort into them. Not sure if that has also been changed/fixed. I'm still on the fence on whether to back this.
All hail to the king !! .. well I did my late pledge for eaons trespass. Got my oathsworn.... hoo well of course full pledge on primal . Primal !!!! Primal look at those miniature look at them they ssssccrrreeaaam of pure metal power ... thanks for awesome job cant wait to paint them all
haha you are in it deep like me :D
Backed this
Where is the one that looks like a tyrannosaur?
Ugh...These look so darn cool. I dont think the game is for me (coop etc.) and Its pricey so I did not back it but man o man this makes me feel sad I didnt. I kinda wanna paint these guys bad.
haha that's the struggle right? I can't answer because I don't know how much you have to spend or how much you enjoy painting minis, but unless it's a no brainer I normally say never back for just the minis :)
@@TheKingofAverage yah I have no space to "display" them so I would paint, put back in box and hope to play the game. Now If I loved the game and planned to play a lot, it may be worthwhile but I suspect I wouldnt play it much more than 2-3 times. Ill have to wait and see if I can try it elsewhere to decide i suppose hehe.
Oh man great point, I never really thought about all my painted minis that are just sitting inside of a box :(
now i wanna know when i lll get my all in pledge!? 🤔
you and me both!
I apologize for such a delay btw. They have been very accommodating of all of my comments on the minis - they will be really good!
@@TheKingofAverage thanks for the info! and it gets here when it gets here, all good! 😁👊🏻
Hype a 1000
PRIMAL- TIME!
This looks really good also it’s on the same scale that of oathsworn.
I can use this terrain to further expand oathsworn when It comes up in the quo ready to play.
oh yeah for sure! That terrain is perfect for that I think from the rocks to the plants.
I'm considering late pledging. This game looks much better than Monster Hunter, IMHO.
The crafting is better in Monster Hunter, the fights are better in Primal.
IMO (granted bias though I said this well before they contacted me as well) the minis are better here too.
I have contacted primal awakening on multiple occasions. They have never replied, not even once. Makes me suspect that the KS might never ship and getting your money back will be impossible. The KS is 6 months behind it's projected delivery date and is still accepting "late pledges". Another red flag. Yes the mini's look good but the company has yet to face the most expensive part of the process - shipping and handling. So many companies have gone belly up at that stage.
Aw man sorry about that. They are taking late pledges until mass production starts, which is waiting on me to finally be okay with all of these (and a few other things). I apologize for my part in it, but I hope when all is said and done you guys love it. They have come a LONG way and many of these IMO look BETTER than the render did.
@@TheKingofAverage i do appreciate your content and opinions. Maybe I'll give them another chance.
I reached out to them twice this year and it was fairly simple and quick. Sorry for your experience, but I can tell it's not typical.
Thanks for the video, models look reasonably good, some even better, but my problem with these minis is that they are small, very small. Compare that to Oathsworn minis. Also the bases are very poor, look at Thoreg´s base, it´s so so poor, compare that to any of the oathsworn bases...I agree that there are some nice designs and that some of them are cool, but I feel dissapointed, it´s going to have a poor presence on the table, it was supposed to be a huge boss battler and the awakened is the only huge mini here, I would like to see a comparison with the bigger bosses from oathsworn, to see how they look confronted. I suppose shipping cost and another considerations took them to this sizes. If bigger, more production cost, bigger box, more money for shipping etc All that is left now is hoping that the game itself is ggod enough when it finally arrives, and we all know it would not be this year nor early next year, maybe early summer and with a huge cost in shipping.
I like the size and hope they keep it. If a game does not fit in one Kallax square, it is too big/bloated as far as I´m concerned.
It's hard right? As a creator you have to balance many things from storage/shipping concerns to scale of enemies versus your characters. Joan of Arc for instance went all the way to 15mm scale and wile that's a bummer to paint and look at normally, when fighting that giant dragon it's INSANE and epic so pros and cons to that.
Oathsworn has AWESOME scale for their heroes, but their enemies never feel as big as that dragon I showed here will because the size difference isn't that much.
Personally, I'm okay losing some scale for larger minis. How much that is I don't have a defined line for - but I'm just here to try and help ensure the minis, as they are, are they best version they can be :)
oh, and gameplay is great, if you play it I think you'll really enjoy it :)
@@TheKingofAverage I really hope so! That´s why I backed it after all
I late pledged but happy I did. My and the woman will have another game to play drunk while blasting metal!!
that. sounds. awesome! :D
Even if my wife is wary because this is another big game, I know she'll be super excited when it arrives!
I wish I was a painter.. my copy of the game is going to look rather bland. Perhaps I can at least do a wash.. that seems simple enough.
They will look awesome and have a lot of color. But even with out painting do note that they won't be this bright tan (which doesn't show detail well as it is) - it'll be the normal grey that shows more so that's nice at least :)
@@TheKingofAverage Sounds like I need to learn to at least to a simple wash. I absolutely know I couldn't do these justice by painting them.. my dumb ass would just ruin them. 😂
