  • I decided to make a video of repairs I made to some hand tools I had in my shed. Although my repair was of a Milwaukee 75th year model, this video can be used as inspiration for repairing tools rather than tossing them.

    I know this video is 9yrs old but I just want to thank you for posting it. Had a stuck blade- took apart but had trouble getting back together. Mine is a little different but I got it, thanks to your help!

    Amen Sir ! Your video helped me out on a job site. Where I had two blades broke off inside the clamp. Was able to re-use the existing clamp, Milwaukee electrical Saw - Zal got back in 2005. Keep up the knowledge from you to others. As I received from you in this video. Saw - Zal ON !!!

    A blade was stuck in my Hackzall, so I used the same blade for as long as I could until the teeth were almost gone. This video finally showed me how to remove the first part to begin disassembly. Thank you!

      Actually I bought this at a pawn shop it was on the " as is table " for $15.00 took it home and the blade was droopy so spent another $12.99 for the kit.
      took the rest of it apart and cleaned the electrical section out and put some new grease in the gear section. Works great!

    Thank you for doing this video. Been having problems with mine holding the blade... like the pin wont pop back out. Use oil from time to time to get it moving, figured it was rusty (used primarily in plumbing....). Think I'll take it apart now that I know how and clean it up. I wonder, what really fails on this, what should I be checking for wear vs just wire brushing clean?

    Gods job sir working with one hand tied behind your back nice that people like yourself and others show yes you can do it your self and for the most part should be able to do so youth of today don't have the common sense or will to do repair just throw it away buy new really not economical you and others like I said show yes it can be done even with one hand tied behind your back good job sir

      Good evening Kyle. Thanks for the compliment. I agree. I have spent more money than I care to think about replacing tools rather than figuring out why the darn thing failed. Hopefully, I can inspire a few youngsters to pick up a wrench and a screwdriver to repair/improve upon a tool. Anyway. God's speed and thanks again.

    Thanks for the video, I was wondering how to get the chuck off; this is probably also the best way to replace the felt washer that keeps the grease in the reciprocating mechanism.

  • @plongkie224
    @plongkie224 7 років тому

    Hi sir, I have a hackzall reciprocating saw and often times the chuck stuck up the blade so I have to twist it back and fort many times to luckily unlock the blade, is this why you are changing the chuck? If so, does the chuck of the hackzall and sawzall the same? I Really appreciate if you'll answer me, thank you.. (sorry for the bad English)

    • @ebrazil67
      @ebrazil67  7 років тому

      I'm sorry it took me so long to reply. The answer to your question is yes. First you have to google the model number of your hackzall and purchase the part from one of the parts suppliers. Once you receive your parts, the repair is basically the same as described in my video. You may have to split the unit. Just be careful not to separate it to quickly and the inside mechanisms fall out. if they do, they are pretty simple to replace. Make sure the amperature and bushings seat well and that you do not force and bind parts.
      Good luck on your rebuild.

      @@ebrazil67 Thanks, the repair was a piece of cake thanks to your video. The only issue, non-issue really, was my pin was on the opposite side, so I just spun everything around 180° and it worked perfectly. And my comment was not intended as a criticism, it was entirely a joke. I too have tried to film things I do while holding my camera/phone at the same time, and it's a pain in the butt. You did a great job and showed everything important.

      One of the good things about youtube and the internet in general is that if you don't like the page you are on, you can change it and in the process keep your negative comments to yourself. Changing the channel is simple. But maybe you don't know how to do that. Peace.
