@@dmcarter1512 In Australia I’ve seen them at the top of the price range for $700. The lower end of the price range is around $500. I bought mine for $550 4 years ago. They exist in that affordable price range, but I wouldn’t pay in the upper range - lots of good amps for that price (as cool as the Excelsior is).

Don't care what people say - I love the Pawnshop series ! These amps (this one and the Vaporizer) have given me what I've looked for in the old Silvertones, Danos and Supros etc, but I don't have to fix them first and they come with a warranty!
$400 and you're in weirdo, off brand, funky heaven.
Haters relax! Love 'em for what they are!

I bought this in Feb. and love it! It does NOT need, a boost pedal, since it is really pretty loud alone. Mine is burnt in now and sounds better than when new. I do use an OCD most of the time for distortion at lower vol. I love the tone of this amp. and prefer it to my Hot Rod Deluxe for just jamming. It's simple and reminds me of a real blues amp tone. With pedals it's amazing & sounds great recorded.Well worth the $299. I spent. Thanks Fender for another classic amp.

I have 2 Excelsiors that I have experimented on with great results. The absolute must do upgrade is the power tubes. Throw the stock 6V6 tubes at a politician and go get new JJ's or anything else. Voila, no more fizz. The preamp tubes will rattle and go microphonic also. Add a reverb or delay pedal and season to taste with a bit of tremelo and these amps come to life. No need to go crazy with speaker and EQ mods unless you want to completely lose the garage band vibe. Lots of potential in these!

Nice amp at a cheap price. But, there is one problem that I would have with this amp. It is the inability to change the speakers for another 15 inch. I have to gut out the amp in order to change the speakers if the speaker stops working properly & buzzes too much. My Les Paul has 57 classics & the bass tone can be powerful that certain speakers can't handle it. For replacement speakers, I would prefer Eminence speakers because they are loud & it can handle my Les Paul. Cheers, Flood!

Since we are in suggestion mode, I've always had problems with different sound levels of speech and music. If I hear speech nicely, music is too loud and vice versa. So I constantly have to turn the volume knob up and down.
Please tell me I'm the only one and that something is wrong with my hearing. :)

Comments about 15 inch speaker are misleading. If one used a 15 inch bass speaker then you would be correct but those aren't the 15s that either Stevie Ray Vaughan or any other guitarist who did their homework would use. Many speaker makers including Weaver, Eminence, Celestion etc. make 15 inch guitar speaker which is not bass heavy or weak in the mid range, just the opposite. The highs are smooth and sweet and the entire sound is punchy to a fault. I have combined one with a 10 inch hemp cone from Eminence both running 4 ohms from a Mesa Boogie Subway Blues - wow - a poor man's kickass '62 Vibroverb.
