Hoping my dad will let me buy the bike off of him because he just bought a 2015 Harley. Vtx is 2005. Something about sitting on a bike, I’m not a speed demon on anything but a bike gives u feels, all ur worriers gone in the wind😂. I call it wind therapy. I look forward to years of riding hopefully
2016 VTX 1300 R. Had her since day 1. She's been a champ. Always started (unless the battery was dead). Probably one of the most underrated bikes in history.
I've considered getting one but it doesn't offer anything more than my 35 year old Shadow 1100, which I've owned since new... 78 hp , 50 mpg and still 100% reliable
@@gustwowheeling7337 I fit right in with you fellas. I am close to 57 years old and I have had my 2008 VTX 1300C for 10 years now. Before that I had a 1986 Shadow 1100 for 24 years. I bought it in 1989 with less than 5oookm on it. It was a beautiful bike still when I sold it, because it was always stored indoors even though I was young and renting. While I owned it I bought a new 2000 Nomad to see if it was a better bike. Not even close. POS compared to the Honda. I sold it and bought a 2006 Vstrom. Still a v-twin but I kept the Shadow in the garage and sold the Vstom after two years. I loved the Shadow and it was a great highway bike even without a windshield. It had serious top end power, much more than the 1300cc I'm afraid. The Shadow had things newer cruises just don't. Center stand, dual discs up front, hydraulic clutch, tach, fuel gauge, two carbs, true dual exhaust, self adjusting valves, and chrome that lasts forever. I sold the Shadow because I didn't want to see it abruptly stop running one day. Hopefully it's still on the road. It was all stock by the way. Canadian model with only highway pegs added. The VTX does have a bit more range and is very comfortable with a Mustang seat.
I just bought a 2004 VTX 1300 with less than 20k miles on it. Yes, you read that right, 20 years old, less than 20k miles. Plot twist: I bought it from a guy here in Texas who sadly got flooded in the recent rains. It took on about a foot and a half of water. He's a friend and too old to ride these days so he told me "$500 and it's yours", so clearly I couldn't turn THAT shit down. Clearly I have my work cut out for me, but I'm happy to do it. Here's the thing, I've RIDDEN for 15 years, but I've never ONCE turned a wrench on a motorcycle. Plenty of cars, and I'm an HVAC mechanic by trade, so I likely have the "mechanical knowledge and skill set" to do the work that needs to be done. That said, I'm always happy to take advice. I've found the owners manual online, but CLEARLY I'm gonna need some parts, and what I DON'T see in the manual are PARTS BREAKDOWN AND PARTS NUMBERS. Curious if anyone here knows where I can find what I guess would be called the "SERVICE" manual, with breakdowns and part numbers. This was a great video btw, you made me even more excited to get mine cleaned up and on the road!
Yes...if you get a service manual, that will help. I have a couple of my friends get the info by just doing a Goggle search, and it will bring you to a website where you can look at service manual page by page. I hope that helps you. Thanks for watching and ride safe.

I found your video in perfect timing. I’m looking for my 3rd motorcycle. I’ve looked at new Indian Scouts, pretty much given up on finding a new Honda Rebel 1100 with the manual transmission, and passed on a Yamaha V-Star. I keep coming back to the idea of finding a good used Honda VTX 1300. My 1st ride was a Honda and I loved it. Thanks for the info. New subscriber.
You're welcome glad I could help. All fine motorcycles that you are looking at, especially the new Rebel 1100. They are selling like hotcakes at my local Honda dealer. That is a good idea, plenty of gently used VTX's for sale with great prices. Let me know what you end up buying. Thanks for watching the video, commenting, and subscribing. Have a good rest of the week, and ride safe.
@2_Wheel_Life thanks! I’ll watch. My ex has an 1100 and he likes it. I looked at a 2013 Honda Interstate over the weekend; 1300cc. I think my biggest hurdle is that I really do love my Suzuki Savage. It’s so easy to own, maintain, ride, move around. Thanks for your feedback. I welcome any advice.
Hi love your videos & commentry👍, in lockdown here in Wales UK, hoping to by my first Honda vtx this year sometime & enjoy the riding like you have, love your bike, Stay safe & well.
Sounds like you got a great deal on it, glad it's worked out for you. Just not a cruiser guy myself, don't care for the seating position, grew up on standards before there were so many variants of motorcycle styles. Amazing how time passes, my newest bike is the '02 Bonnie T100 (it's been to PA a couple times, also WV); for road trips I prefer the Daytona (hard to believe it's over 20 years old now), it's been to PA, WV, VA, NC, TN so far, hopefully things work out for the trip to Barber and I'll ride it down there, back up through New Orleans and up the Natchez Trace Pkwy.
Sounds like you have some great memories with your Triumph. I really like the T120 Bonneville, I would like to demo ride one, it’s a beautiful motorcycle. Sorry for responding back late. I hope you and your family are doing well. Take care sir.
Hope you and yours are well also, thanks Gus. Had to scrap the trip to Barber, now I plan to do the 2-day school at VIR in August. Great memories with the Triumphs for sure, and the real adventure of cross-country (and back) solo on the old Yamaha. What's your longest bike trip?
17th anniversary with mine in a couple days. not sure of the total mileage since I always have the trip on as I'm sure you do too, but 34k on it's second speedometer, replaced about 3 years ago. 2004, my first brand new bike. others have come and gone but this one stays hah
I just bought a 2005 Honda Vtx 1300r. Mine is Silver and has a little over 22,000 miles on the odometer. I have to practice and get used to it but I love it already. :)
That's wonderful John! Congrats on the purchase of your gently used VTX 1300R, with the beautiful silver color. Thanks for watching and commenting. Ride safe!
It's a Honda! Really all you need to say. I was wondering how your windshield did in keeping the air off you, how is the buffing with it?? I am looking at a 07 VTX with just under 12K miles on it. Asking 4500.00 Its the cherry color .
For a very first bike I would recommend a standard bike which has a of course a standard riding position. But if you want your first bike to be cruiser style, I would pick the Honda Shadow Aero 750cc or any other manufacturers that offer a cruiser style 750cc or less. Then later on when you are comfortable to graduate to a bigger cruiser like the VTX 1300. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment, take care and be safe.
@@gustwowheeling7337 sorry for bothering you again. I found a Honda Shadow 600cc for a fair price. Do you think 600cc is enough for a short interstate ride? Will the engine be overloaded or not? I have zero experience and asking for a wise advice)
It's no bother, it should do it for short interstate ride, if it's only you, but if you have a passenger, it will struggle a bit. Also after a riding season, you are going to outgrow it and then want something bigger in the 750cc and up.
@@gustwowheeling7337 thanx again! Will follow your advice and try to start with 750. Man, they are big! I tried one yesterday. A little scary to be honest ) But I'm sure I'll make it.

2007 vstar 1300 owner here. I would’ve bought the Honda 1300, but I wanted a belt drive as opposed to shaft, but I have equal respect for the Honda, as my first bike was a 2002 Honda shadow 750 ACE. v star still running fine.
I'm sorry for responding back so late, Ko Ko. The cup holder was given to me, it's brand name is Kruzer Kaddy. Safe trip back to stateside, copy on the new tires. Thanks for watching and commenting, ride safe.
You got a good looking vtx! I just bought a 2004 vtx 1300 red in color c model back in November had 26k on it when I got 30k on it now great machine, previous owner did a few performance mods to it like hypercharger, cobra full exhaust, jetted the carb, also got crash bars and highway pegs.
Thanks for this beautiful video. Please I need your advice. I'm 5.5 tall and I'm a beginner. Do you think this bike is good for me since I'm kinda small in size?
Thank you for your kind words. I'm 5'9" with 32" inseam and it's perfect for me. Best thing would be to find one for sale and have a seat. As long as you stick to the VTX1300R or VTX1300S you should be okay. They also make a VTX1300C, that model your legs are stretched forward to the foot pegs. Also check out the Honda Shadow 750 Aero or Phantom. A lot of people that I know started out with model as a beginner rider. Best of luck in your search and be safe. Thanks for watching.
@@Mostafa.Morgan_ Im 5'2 with 25" inseam and can ride this bike but i recommend a getting a smaller bike you can flat foot on. I'm new to biking also and went from shadow 600 to vtx1300R in one season. Commuting and empty parking lot helped me get good fast. Bike is heavy and as a new rider you want to control your bikes balance. When i first rode the shadow i dropped it couple times cause i didn't know how to balance bike. Turn the steering as i stopped and the bike would start to lay over. My vtx had carb issue and would die sometimes if i didn't gun it when idling. Was in hurry to work and didn't gun it in idle, was turning right and the bike suddenly died on me. Since i knew how to balance the bike i didn't lay it down even with the wheel turned a little right. I'll give you a tip that some random guy who saw me drop the bike said, you can give it some gas at stop signs or light when u taking off. Rather than trying to get correct gas to clutch release ratio u can can control take off with just clutch. Yeah the vtx would be a good second bike for you, it always puts a smile on my face. Riding my shadow after the 1300 feels like im riding a regular bicycle . The weight difference is that crazy noticeable.
I'm 61 yrs.old 5'8" weigh 125 I ride a 2005 vtx 1300 r and love this bike after 350 miles I can ride with confidence little iffy at first but now I'm glad I got it, my friends say I look like a kid who stole a giant cruiser lol.

I just bought a 2006 VTX 1300S. What kind of windshield do you have on yours? On mine, the previous owner had an aftermarket one but the brackets hit the tank when you turn hard in each direction. Yours doesn't look like you have that issue
Congrats on your new VTX 1300! My windshield is Memphis Shade, if I remember the model name of the windshield is Memphis Fats. Thank you for watching, commenting and subscribing. Enjoy your VTX 1300, and ride safe.
I just got a 05 Harley Heritage and I am loving this Iron Horse, nice and comfortable, easy to ride in the saddle all day, with this one. Very nice, glad that you are happy with your purchase. Enjoy the ride, be safe, and have a good weekend.
3 years later, any issues with it? I got my eye on one with 30k miles, but unsure.
Yeah just bought one 2007 1300s I am a little intimidated with it but haven’t ridden in years hope I can do like you
Congratulations! You’ll be fine, take it easy in the beginning and as you ride more and more it will come back to you. Thanks for watching and ride safe Kenneth.
What a nice bike. 💯👍🏼
Thank you Xavier, ride safe.
I just bought mine a couple months ago. 2006 with 6k miles on it
That's awesome, Zachery! What color is it?
@@gustwowheeling7337 blue
Just picked up a 2006 vtx 1300 c with under 6k miles. First bike I've had in a decade and first cruiser. Absolutely love it
Love the video! I'm looking in to buying a vtx 1300 at the moment. If the sale goes through I'm going to have to get a buddy to bring it home though, as I don't actually have my license yet haha.
That's great, best of luck on the sale going through, and getting your license. Thank you for watching and commenting. Have a good weekend and ride safe.
vtx 1300 is a great bike.
@@mikewhite7462 it sure is! Been having a lot of fun with it since I got it!!!
@@ajdegroot1980 I love mine and am go8ng on the road in a few months
@@mikewhite7462 yeah, I bought it a few months ago and have been enjoying the ever loving life out of it!!!
2007 vstar 1300 owner here. I would’ve bought the Honda 1300, but I wanted a belt drive as opposed to shaft, but I have equal respect for the Honda, as my first bike was a 2002 Honda shadow 750 ACE.
v star still running fine.
The Vstar 1300 is an excellent cruiser as well, I’m sure it is still running fine. Thanks for watching and ride safe.
Getting ready to be back stateside to put new tires on my 2007 vtx1300 and ride. What brand is your cup holder?
I'm sorry for responding back so late, Ko Ko. The cup holder was given to me, it's brand name is Kruzer Kaddy. Safe trip back to stateside, copy on the new tires. Thanks for watching and commenting, ride safe.
Good looking motorcycle! I currently have a 03 VTXR. What type of windshield is on your bike?
Thank you. The brand of the windshield is called Memphis Shades, the model is called Memphis Fats. Thanks for watching and ride safe.
Thank you sir. Sounds like you got a good deal. Thanks for watching and ride safe.
I own a 2004 1300C... Best bike ever!
That's awesome Jay! Thanks for watching, ride safe.
Best bike ever.
It is very nice. Thank you for watching, and have a good weekend.
Brilliant love the video Rep Ireland 👍👍
Thank you so much. I'm sorry for responding back to you so late. Thanks for watching and be safe, sir.
Are you out of the winchester area? There is one for sale right now on cycle trader that looks identical to yours. Cup holder and everything
I'm not in the Winchester area, and no mine is not for sale. Thanks for watching, and ride safe.
@@gustwowheeling7337 gotcha, I figured it was a long shot. I'm out of VA myself. I'm in the Fburg area. Mostly a dual sport rider though.
Wonderful video 👍👍
Thank you Vijay! Ride safe!

Thanks Gus for your advise.
Please stay safe too.
I very much appreciate your time sir :)
You're welcome, take care
Beautiful bike!
Thank you Mackandal! It has given me many years of joy, with no problems. Thanks for watching and be safe.
I'm looking for a bike just like yours but I found there're hard to find. Let me know if you want to sell it lol. She's a beauty. 👍
I'll let you know, Scott. I just checked on Facebook Marketplace, a lot for sale on there. Check it out. Thanks for watching, good luck in your search, and ride safe.
@@gustwowheeling7337 ok thanks for the info.
Do you have a go pro or use your phone, linking auditory commentary though your helmet mic?
I have a GoPro Hero 7 Black, GoPro external mic adapter (which required for GoPro Hero 5 and up), and a Giant Squid Audio Lab Omnidirectional Microphone. Thanks for watching.
I bought mine new in 04 and I won’t part with it 😊

I just got a 05 Harley Heritage and I am loving this Iron Horse, nice and comfortable, easy to ride in the saddle all day, with this one. Still have to stop and fuel too often though, only have a 4.5 gal. tank on it I think. It only has 24,000 miles on it. Pictures on my Facebook page. facebook.com/garylordsway/posts/2700261146873979
