I bought my 2023 Outlander PHEV (SEL Premium) 2 weeks ago - local dealer had 7 Outlander PHEVs on the lot. I got it for $1,200 UNDER MSRP. I have driven 550 miles and still have half a tank of gas. I am plugging it in every night for my daily commute and weekend errands. It feels "luxurious" inside -- premium leather, panoramic roof, 360 camera, power folding side mirrors, heated, steering wheel, heated seats, hands-free tailgate, head up display AND massaging seats! If I take a longer drive, I will have no "range anxiety." Plus, the Outlander has a 10-YEAR WARRANTY. ONE BIG NOTE: the owner's manual clearly states that the 3rd row is ONLY for people under 5' 3" -- I am frustrated by all the UA-cam videos that do not share this critical information. I do not need a 3rd row, so I partially "fold" it. This opens up a HUGE, DEEP storage well. And, I can stack items on the folded 3rd row! The RAV4 Prime may have better overall mpg, but the 18-month wait and $12,000 "dealer adjustment" are outrageous. One local dealer wanted $65k for loaded Prime with MSRP of $52k. I did not consider Kia or Hyundai brands -- "Kia boys" have stolen 3,000 of them in my area (and assaulted drivers in the process). Lastly, my home solar panels will be installed in 6 weeks. The Outlander PHEV is the PERFECT choice for me in 2023. Totally agree with your review & there are a dozen of these on lots in Las Vegas. The problem I have is that third row~~ I wish that Mitsubishi had brought in the Aspire trim to the US that is two row. That third row, even folded down, takes up most of your cargo space. Can the 3rd row be removed? Thank you Rich
@jmsmikey folding the 3rd row flat provides the same cargo space as Rav4 Prime for about $15k less. Not sure about 3rd row removal. Maybe after market shop?
The only phev for me is the mitsubishi.. I live in South Africa. We have planned blackouts 6-8 hours per day. The mitsubishi is the only car I can fast charge then use it as a generator to run my home or shop.. well done.. apart from being born in the rally field 8 years ago.. this phev is power
Extremely amateurish presentation. The distance it can travel on a battery is one of the fundamental pieces of information that consumers would like to know but are sadly lacking.
Lots of incorrect information. It also blows my mind that any vehicle with less than a 30 mile range would be included. The Wrangler/Crosstrek/Aviator are terrible PHEVs. Their range just isn't usable, and they aren't very efficient when the battery is low. In all three cases the ICE version may be good value, but you'd be a fool to shell out extra for their PHEVs.
I have solar. Mitsubishi just got a heads up for dual use energy storage that can be integrated into a complete solar/battery/transportation system that includes my house. Thanks for the information. The future is coming.
You can't get the RAV 4 Prime unless you wait 3-4 years plus a 10K mark up. I bought the 2024 PHEV Outlander GT last week....MSRP plus they gave me deals on everything I wanted added on. SHOP AROUND for this vehicle. If you try to buy it in a large city they'll try to take you to the cleaners.
Might want to look up the difference between and HEV and a PHEV. Only one gets a $7,500 tax credit, and only those built in the U.S. That drops your list to one.
Subaru PHEV Crosstrex as number 1? Really? You guys lost all credibility with this ranking. The Subaru has an EV range of a mere 17 miles. Useless! Any PHEV with a range of less than 30 miles should not be on anyone's list in my opinion. With such a low EV range, it would make more sense to buy a hybrid vehicle for better efficiency, cost, and reliability. Let's not kid ourselves here, the Toyota Rav4 Prime is number 1 and it's not even close.
