  • We are at what appears to be an abandoned church near the village of Furnas, but I was mistaken!
    This video was actually recorded before several others I had already published. It is the first FPV flight. I have to give my brother some instructions on how to film :D.

    Great video as usual Peter. I notice from the screen recording from your phone that you have the auto exposure set to control your aperture. What you need to do is keep your shutter speed set to double your FPS (Frames Per Second). ie: 25FPS should have a fixed shutter speed of 50. If you click the right thumb-wheel, you can change it to control the ISO setting, and this you can use to change the ISO to compensate for exposure changes.

    Most of the time I offer them the footage. I even edit a clip for them to put on social media. Usually they are already happy with the auto edit video that is produced by the DJI GO 4 app... with the shots just a little bit adjusted, of course.

    in time drones will become more familiar and accepted, but its one of those things that will definitely take time. Eventually people wont care as much as they'll be more used to them. Another great video Peter.

    • @NeverMindYourOwn
      @NeverMindYourOwn  7 років тому +4

      Totally agree. Yesterday I was at a place where a helicopter was flying really low, I saw a couple of smaller airplanes and big airplanes up high. The amount of noise all of them make is a lot more than my tiny drone. Nobody complains, because they're all used to it and hardly notice it anymore. The noise of a drone is new and as such draws attention. Most people are just curious and positive about it. After some time, nobody will care that much about it anymore.

    • @thefortressishere
      @thefortressishere 7 років тому +2

      Thats a very fair and accurate point Peter. There is also alot of hypocrisy surrounding yhe whole topic. For example, i use flight radar 24 app on my phone and its shocking how many private aircraft fly over that arnt on flight radar. Plus the police helicopter doesn't appear on it either which in my opinion is wrong. At the end of the day, no one owns our skies so why is it one ŕule for them and another rule for us. Especially when manned aircraft is far more dangerous than our little drones.

    An old video, but you asked the question around 12:40 why "taking photos and walking around is OK and when a drone turns up suddenly it's private property."
    A lot of us are irritated by the buzzing noise they make, so the reactions of a good number of people towards the drone pilot is likely to be hostile. It is as simple as that.

    I like your video's. I've been watching and enjoying them for a while. (You and Ken Heron are my favorites) I don't know about others on here but sometimes it gets old when someone comments about what you should do and what you should not do and quoting laws and guildlines. They watch part of one video and they think they are the drone police. Gosh, it kills me to see others comments telling everyone else how to do it the right way and what they are doing is wrong. Sometimes I just want to say to them, you are not the drone police, aviation authority, or anyone that matters so sit down, shut up and watch the video or click on something else, lol. I wish they would keep their criticism to themselves. They obviously haven't watched your videos and they obviously don't know anything about you. Peace from the USA, bro.

    I have a tip. I recommend that your antennas should be tilted 90 degrees when you are using 5GHZ, but if you are using 2.4GHZ, I recommend tilting it 45 degrees or your usual tilt in your videos. I got this tip from DJI and it helped my Phantom 3 standard, because it uses 5GHZ. Anyways, I subscribed because your videos are great, keep making good videos. Thanks.

      I also forgot that there is a feature that allows the drone to go to narrow places (called "Narrow Sensing). You can find info in DJI's channel. Just search narrow sensing an you will learn how to use it (since I forgot how). I also experience the jello effect in the Phantom 3 Standard. Thanks again.

I want to do a trip to Algarve soon and I would like to make everything as legal as possible. I would appreciate to have some informations because it's great you managed to have permit for even fpv flying. I read that you have to explicitly tell before where you want to fly. abandoned? grass is cut, yard is maintained....you fly your drone in places that upsets people- not good. Also, from your other videos, you make footage over other people, hazardous....emergency landings in farmers fields, trying to fly long distances....asking for trouble. Did you get permission to tromp all over private land, searching for your lost drone? I think not. It does not matter how good of a pilot you think you are, this is an a mechanical device that can fail, and crash. The weight of this drone, falling, can build enough kinetic energy to kill someone. Although this has not happened yet, your carefree, reckless flying will catch up to you, and your luck will run out. You have had enough warnings and signs, (and fines) already, that should have made you a more considerate and safe pilot. Your disregard for public safety, and private property, is blackening the sport of droning for the rest of us. Common courtesy goes a long ways, something you might want to work on. The world does not revolve around you. I see a lawsuit slapping you upside your head....planning your flight is not only about if you can do it, it should include SHOULD I do it, am I disrupting other people's activities? You have a disregard for the latter. Use some common sense, quit pissing people off.

      Admin 1 Make all the snide remarks you wish! I fly for my enjoyment, not to piss people off. It's inconsiderate flying that will put bans on recreational droning, good job

      Admin 1 alright, I was perhaps a tad harsh...but I believe my points are quantified. We have very restrictive rules in Canada, temporary until the permanent ones are in place. I realize every country's laws differ in regards to flying drones. But consideration to others should be a priority, in my books. Fly safe!

      Heh mate. Why do you think I show this stuff? I don't just show my successes, but also my failures. You never make mistakes? I THOUGHT this was an abandoned place, to find out it wasn't and guided tours were given there. You can see me and my brother figuring out what is going on. If I would have known/understand that, before I was flying there, I would not have flown like that. I would have talked to the lady FIRST and ask if she was ok with it. But she was at the end of the road and not at the beginning, so I hadn't noticed.
      So yes, she got annoyed and rightly so. We went up to her, talked to her and I apologised several times as you can see in the video. She accepted that and thus she was ok with it and happily gave us the tour. In my opinion THAT is how you solve problems when they occur. And that is actually what I wanted to show with this video. Sorry you did not completely get that.

      NeverMindYourOwn I don't fly over private property. I respect peoples privacy. If I planned to, I would get explicit permission from the owner first. And yes, I have made plenty of mistakes, but try to learn from them. I pick places that are more remote to fly, no people, no complaints. It was great that you apologized, and that your apology was accepted....after the fact. Having a plan in case of failure is important- doesn't take much height for a falling drone to do alot of damage to property or people. Is getting lots of views for your videos worth endangering others? I get upset seeing people doing silly things like flying over cities....you have captured some fine shots with your drone, but don't put too much trust in your bird, it is prone to failures....hate to see it fall on a ferrari, or worse, a person. Cheers, be safe.

      Admin 1 That is likey not going to happen anytime soon, too much liability....but if and when they do, I won't have any issues with dropping my drone on the ferrari next door, because they will be doing the same.
