How does the Skydio 2 avoid obstacles at boosted speed?

- Since the Skydio 2 has a boost button with which it will increase speed a lot, I wonder how it will avoid obstacles at this speed. So we test it.

Nice video love your reaction to it flying backwards on its return to home it brightens up my day from lockdown boredom !!
Cool !! Try max distance with full battery, it maxed out because it was calculating battery to return safely. Enjoy your videos Peter, keep em coming !!

Good video. Its now January 28, 2021 and I'm still waiting patiently for my ordered Skydio 2 for at least another 4 weeks. I console myself by flying my new DJI Mini 2 but even though it is an excellent machine, it doesn't have as good a camera and no obstacle avoidance. Keep up the good work.

Nice video sir however I really miss seeing you fly the Phantom 4 as I believe it suited you better for the video you have done. I would love to see you fly the Autel EVO also. I just bought one and it is quite the drone for long range and camera is excellent too. Keep up the great videos!

Sounds like you like this drone but in the tone of your voice your bit disappointed but so want it to be perfect but it's not quite ther anyway another great video peter, did you ever do a review on the dji spark ?? Hi Peter, could you pls test the following scenario: The Skydio2 is flying in air surrounded by most sides by trees, like in the middle of the pathway of the trees. Then you for example run out of battery and the Return To Home is initiated. how will the drone solve that, in the case the starting point has branches on top of the drone...? I wonder how the drone will solve that issue?
You should still be able to control it when it's returning. That seems to be a be a bit of an oversight. And you should be able to steer when landing.
The connection.... well it really wasn't meant to be a long range flyer and more of a follow me drone. So that's ok I guess although I'd like to have a better transmission system so I know I could fly through trees. What if it's following you at some set distance and it loses connection because of poor signal through trees?
You seem to be liking the Skydio 2. You still have the Phantom 4 Pro right? Has the Skydio taken over for it ?

Aye, it returns backwards, but then, WHY NOT? The Skydio doesn't have a compass, and with 4 rotors, "any direction could be forward." The only part of the drone that would be sensitive to direction is the CAMERA that is RECORDING. And maybe you want to have a REVEAL, which would be very cinematic whilst flying "backwards." That's perfect for a REVEAL.
I guess I don't get it. If you want to fly in (not really very) close proximity to objects and at speed, why not learn to fly an FPV drone? It's so much more fun actually flying the aircraft and improving your flying skills, than just pushing a stick forward and letting the drone do everything.
